David gives Jo food for thought. Cash tries to bridge the gap. Kerrie’s in Harper’s ear.
Extended Summary
Cash is going for a run on the beach. He finds Lacey outside the beach house and wonders how she is. Lacey admits she’s wondering where her life is going: She’s been surviving second by second and wonders what’s next. Cash says you can’t rush moving on but running helps him clear his head. Lacey says this is how she does that. Cash smiles and runs on.
Cash finds Tane and Archie back at the house. Eden says there’s a situation with Harper. Tane explains that Kerrie’s in town and Harper said she wasn’t staying but instead she’s waiting to meet Archie. He rejects a call from Harper. Cash is frustrated that Tane has learnt nothing from last time. Tane insists he’s not letting Kerrie near Archie.
Harper is frustrated at the lack of answer from Tane but plays it down with Kerrie, saying he’s probably just distracted with Archie. Kerrie says that Harper sees the good in people but Tane’s taking advantage of it, like her father did, and she shouldn’t be a doormat. Back at the Newman house, Cash tries to argue that Harper won’t hurt Archie and Tane hasn’t given her any opportunity to explain. Eden tries to calm things. Cash doesn’t believe Kerrie is living with Harper. He goes to call her and Tane goes to leave. Eden stops him and suggests Cash see Harper in person while Tane stays there.
At Salt, David asks Jo if Eddie’s work was fine with him taking time off and wonders if there’ll be time to catch up before the festival. Lacey has come up just beforehand and she and Jo tease David about his “bromance” with Eddie. Jo says she hasn’t seen Eddie lately but will see him at the festival soon. She invites Lacey to come but Lacey says it’s not her thing. Later, as they go down to the surf club, Jo encourages Lacey, saying she can go back stage. David agrees with her at first but eventually says the peer pressure should stop. Lacey says she can’t leave Tane. Jo accepts it but thinks she should have fun.
Kerrie encourages Harper to call her solicitor about what Tane’s doing. She says Harper’s father was controlling and stopped them having a relationship. Harper is unconvinced, having seen ugliness from both sides. Kerrie says Tane is trying to stop both of them seeing Archie. Cash turns up and is introduced to Kerrie. Harper explains he’s the friend that helped find her. Kerrie leaves them alone and Cash admits he’s spoken to Tane who’s worried.
Eden gently chides Tane for trying to run away again. Tane argues it was just until he worked out what to do. He gets a text from the gym, saying there’s stuff there for him to do. He wants to put it off until later but Eden encourages him to go, saying she’ll look after Archie. After Tane’s gone, she picks Archie up and cradles him.
Cash questions Harper about Kerrie being there. Harper says she was going to explain to Tane when she saw him. She says Kerrie just turned up unannounced but she wants Archie to have a grandparent. Cash suggests she explain this to Tane. Harper says she would if he returned her calls. Meanwhile, Lacey and David approach the beach house. David checks Jo didn’t go too far pressuring her to go to the festival. Lacey asks about Jo and Eddie breaking up. David says he told Eddie to give her more time but didn’t see him again until now. Lacey isn’t keen on the fact he gave up and thinks David giving him a green light isn’t helping. She says Theo fought for her and suggests Jo deserves someone like that.
Tane and Jo run into each other near the beach. They make polite chit-chat about the beach and work before Jo comments on being reduced to small talk. Tane asks how she feels about the sentencing. Kerrie comes past and comments on Tane being there without Archie, also telling him to pick up the phone to Harper. Tane explains that she’s Harper’s mum. Back at the Newman house, Cash and Eden are comparing notes. Tane returns and mentions meeting Kerrie. Cash says Tane and Harper have the same concerns and Tane needs to talk to her instead of keeping Archie away from her.
Cash and Eden accompany Tane as he brings Archie to the lookout spot, leaving before he approaches Harper. Harper is pleased to see Archie again. Tane apologises and asks if she still wants Archie to meet Kerrie. Harper thinks it’s time. Tane accepts her decision but asks her to promise not to leave Archie alone with Kerrie and to keep him in the loop. Harper heads back to the motel where Kerrie is delighted to see Archie. Before handing him over, Harper says there’s ground rules, including her not being alone with him. Kerrie agrees before taking Archie and doting on him.
Lacey announces she’s going to bed and says David will help Jo with the dishes. Jo says David shouldn’t let Lacey do that. David asks Jo if she’s happy being back with Eddie and checks she doesn’t feel pressured by him to do it. Later, Jo asks David if he ever had any doubts about Kristina. David says he knew he wanted to spend his life with her from the moment he saw her and even turned down a promotion to stay in town with her. Jo is surprised and David says he did have a life before her and wants her to feel the same.
Next morning, Jo goes to where Tane is taking a class. She starts to walk away but he calls out to her. She asks if they can meet for a coffee afterwards to have a chat. Later, while they’re up in Salt, Jo says she’s thinking about how things ended up with them. Tane says there is no them and Jo’s made her choice. He asks what they’re doing there.
