Extended Summary

Remi and Sonny are walking along the beach. Sonny recalls that Remi was against the idea of moving out at one point but Remi notes everything’s changing and he’s busy setting up the studio. Sonny says he’ll get married if it means getting a year’s rent. They see Lacey sitting on her own and note they’ve both left her messages. Sonny goes and silently sits with her, putting his arm round her.

Remi goes to see Eden and briefly encounters Cash who is on his way out to work. Remi asks her about the honeymoon and says she doesn’t need a housemate. Eden says he’s the best housemate she’s ever had. Remi asks if she’s going to offer her guest a coffee. Meanwhile, Leah emerges from the bedroom and Justin asks if she got back to sleep. She doesn’t answer and gets a text from her mum saying the funeral’s today. Justin is sorry she can’t be with her family. He suggests they can say goodbye to Theo on their own but Leah isn’t keen on the idea.

Sonny has taken Lacey to Salt. He’s glad her family have been looking after her but Lacey doesn’t think she deserves it. David turns up and Sonny gives them some space. David says he didn’t know where Lacey was. Lacey says she didn’t know he was keeping tabs on her and she’ll leave a note next time. She asks about Wendell. David says he’s working on it.

Alf and Marilyn turn up at the Morgan house with a large amount of food which they admit is a bit much for afternoon tea. Justin tells them the funeral’s today. Leah appears and they tell her they’re her family too and want to spend time with her. Leah admits she’d like that and goes to get changed. Meanwhile, Cash and David are waiting in plain clothes near the cemetery: There’s only one road in and out. Cash checks David is going to be okay, saying this isn’t a normal stake-out. David says he’s not going to risk not getting Wendell by losing his temper.

Alf, Marilyn, Leah and Justin are putting the food out. Alf wonders if there’s been any news above the driver. Justin says David’s looking for him, which gets an angry door slam from Leah. Justin mentions he got a text from Remi saying he and Eden are sat remembering Theo. Leah agrees to inviting Theo’s friends over, noting they’ve got food. At Salt, Sonny gets a text telling him about the get-together. He suggests Lacey come but Lacey knows she won’t be welcome given the way Leah blew up at her. She tells Sonny to go.

Remi and Eden greet Sonny at the Morgan house and he quietly tells them not to mention Lacey to Leah. Marilyn welcomes Eden back and she tells Leah that Cash is helping with the investigation. Leah says she’s glad someone she can trust is on it. Justin sits everyone down. Eden and Remi reminisce about Theo being nervous before gigs. Alf recalls when he and Ryder were doing online pranks and Leah recalls Cash pulling him over for speeding when they first met.

Cash and David observe the funeral procession, before seeing Wendell join the back of it. They turn on sirens and he speeds off, eventually pulling off the road and running into the trees. David sends Cash after him while he drives on. Cash brings Wendell down but Wendell kicks him in the head and runs off again. David tackles him to the ground and puts his arm over his neck. Cash rushes over and repeatedly says he’s got him until David lets Cash haul Wendell to his feet, arresting him for murder.

Remi recalls how he and Theo used to chat over games of pool. Justin says they used to chat while surfing and Theo told him all his plans, then stops, upset. Leah tells him she likes hearing it. Eden tells her that Theo thought she was the reason he turned his life around. She feels bad about having fun at the wedding but Leah says not to let it spoil her memories and tells Sonny he was a good friend to Theo. Meanwhile, David leaves an officer to watch Wendell in the interview room. Cash tells him they found Wendell’s damaged car in the storage space. David says they’ll get a conviction for Theo’s family but Jo’s recovered memories aren’t enough to charge Wendell over Kristina without a confession.

Eden meets Cash at Salt and tells him about going round Leah and Justin’s. Cash sees Lacey at the bar and goes to talk to her, telling her they caught Wendell. At the station, David is interviewing Wendell, asking him about the witness who says he drove at her and killed her companion, him being placed at the scene of a fatal accident before and whether his wife was still breathing when he left her. Wendell says “No comment” to everything. David suspends the interview and goes and punches a locker repeatedly in frustration. Wendell winces at the sound.

Leah and Justin chat about hearing everyone’s stories. (The others minus Eden are still sat at the table.) They hear a knock at the door and Leah goes to get it but Lacey comes in first. Both Leah and Justin tell her to go as Lacey explains Wendell’s been arrested and he’s going to jail. Leah shouts at her to get out, saying she’ll never be welcome there and she’ll never forgive her. Lacey apologises and Sonny leads her away as Justin hugs Leah.
