The honeymoon’s over for Cash and Eden. Levi worries for his relationship.

Extended Summary

Abigail brings Justin a coffee at Salt. They chat about Theo and how everyone’s coping. Justin sees David and asks if he saw Leah at the station. David says he did and advises Justin to find her, explaining she had an argument with Theo’s mum and it got heated. Meanwhile, at the farm house, Mali and Levi discuss Mackenzie going. Levi wants to book himself onto the same flight as her but Mali doesn’t think gatecrashing her trip is a good idea and says she’ll come back. Levi decides to call Dean to tell him about the miscarriage. Mali is worried about how Mack will feel about him going behind her back but Levi won’t back down on that one. Mali checks his watch and says he has to take a board to a customer, asking if Levi’s okay.

Justin arrives home to find Leah pouring herself a large glass of wine. She says Cassandra blamed her for Theo’s death and wouldn’t listen to her saying Lacey was the reason. Justin says she’s lost her son and suggests they can talk it through calmly at the funeral. Leah tells him Cassandra doesn’t want her there. Meanwhile, Cash and Eden look at Remi’s old room with Eden admitting she misses him. However, they also acknowledge that it’s no longer a share house but theirs.

At the surf club, Mali fills Abigail in on Mackenzie leaving and suggests some distance between her and Levi might help. Abigail decides to go and check on him. Alf comes in and Mali asks if he’s heard about Theo’s funeral. Alf tells him it’s probably going to be in the city where his family is and he’ll let him know if he hears anything.

Leah and Justin walk through a park area. Leah says it’s probably a good thing she’s not going to the funeral since she’s not sure she’d cope. Justin thinks he won’t be welcome if she isn’t and says he’d rather spend time with her. He suggests they book a session with a counsellor. Leah doesn’t want to and, when he pushes the idea, snaps that it’s not going to replace her nephew’s funeral.

Cash and Eden are walking near the surf club. Cash asks if she feels different and Eden admits that, while she didn’t think marriage would change anything, she does. Cash says he doesn’t feel any different and Eden quips that he was always obsessed with her. They run into Alf who asks about their honeymoon and says he hopes the terrible news didn’t spoil it. Both of them are confused.

Abigail arrives back at the farm house and finds Levi relaxed on the sofa. He says he spoke to Dean and he’s going to keep an eye on Mackenzie. Abigail checks that he’s okay. Levi claims that he is and that he’s okay with Mackenzie needing space. When Abigail presses the point though, he admits he’s been better.

Marilyn greets Leah and Justin at the Diner, wondering why they’re there. Leah snappily says she’s allowed to check in on it before adding that Marilyn shouldn’t be dealing with it on her own. Marilyn asks about the funeral. Leah says they’re not invited and walks out. Justin explains she had a run-in with Theo’s mum before going after her.

Eden and Cash arrive home, somewhat shattered that all this was going on while they were on their honeymoon. Cash says people didn’t want to ruin it by telling them. Eden wonders why Remi hasn’t told her while they’ve been exchanging messages and worries how he is. She tells Cash to go into the station and catch the guy responsible, before calling Remi and getting his voice mail.

At Salt, Abigail has updated Mali. They note Levi seems to have calmed down but wonder if he was covering. Eden comes in and says she heard about Theo. Abigail confirms they didn’t want to ruin the honeymoon. She wants to go and see Levi, saying she has a bone to pick with him. Abigail first claims he’s looking after a tired Mackenzie, then that they’re loved up. Mali changes the subject by asking about Cash.

Cash arrives in David’s office and finds him on the phone. He explains he just got back and heard about Theo and offers to help out. David says it’s all hands on deck. Cash asks if they have any leads and David says it was the same driver that killed his wife. Cash wonders what connection Wendell has to Theo. David is silent and Cash realises it was Lacey.

Justin finds Leah sitting on a park bench overlooking the beach. Leah says Cassandra was right and she should have done more to keep Theo away from Lacey. Justin says she tried but he loved her. Leah says she had other opportunities and tells Justin about finding Lacey about to leave town and stopping her because she knew Theo would be heartbroken. She says if she’d let her go, Theo would still be alive.

David gives an officer instructions. Cash gets off the phone and tells David that the tech boys have flagged up a transaction; Wendell rented a storage unit in Reefton Lakes the day after the accident. He suggests applying for a search warrant. Eden turns up with pizza. David says he’ll organise the search warrant and Cash can have dinner with his wife. Eden gives one of the pizzas to the other officer. Cash says he can’t tell her anything.

At the farm house, Mali and Abigail tell Levi about Cash and Eden being back and how they know about Theo but not the miscarriage. Levi says he’ll tell Eden. He gets a text from Dean saying he’s picked up Mackenzie and is upset she didn’t reach out herself. He says they’ll be okay and Abigail asks if he’s convincing them or himself. He admits they seem far apart.

Cash is saying goodbye to Eden, saying he’ll be back tomorrow morning. Eden says she’ll call Leah and Justin tomorrow to ask about the funeral. Cash looks thoughtful and, after Eden’s gone, reminds David about Wendell going to his wife’s funeral. David says he did it because he’s a sociopath, before admitting he might have been guilty and seeking forgiveness. Cash wonders what if he feels the same about Theo and suggests staking out the funeral. David says Theo’s mum has arranged it for tomorrow.

Leah is in bed with Justin lying next to her. Leah says she keeps going over in her head what she could have said to Theo to stop him going. Justin says he loved her but Leah recalls the last thing she had to him was that she wouldn’t clean up after him when things went wrong, and he looked at her disappointed. Justin tries to coax her into getting some sleep. After he leaves her, he goes into the living room and breaks down in tears.
