Extended Summary
Leah and Justin are walking by the beach. Leah doesn’t think looking at the water will help her but Justn suggests a change of scene might be good. Alf comes over and asks if the police have had any luck finding the driver. Justin says not as far as they know. Leah decides to go and check on the Diner, reminding Justin that he wanted her to go out.
At the police station, David is chasing up a warrant for Wendell’s office. Justin turns up and concludes that they haven’t found him. He wonders if Wendell could have left the country. David says they’ve put a block on his passport. Justin points out he could have still left the state. He and David ask each other about Leah and Lacey respectively before Justin asks what Lacey was thinking. David just says he’ll let Justin know if there’s any news.
Cash collects a trolley from room service and tries to get Eden to get out of bed. She isn’t keen on the fact they’ll have to go home soon. Cash says he has champagne but it’s not down to him. There’s a card with it from Jimmy, thanking her for including him in the day. Eden notes she’s glad he came in the end. Cash says he’s got them tickets for the Police and Justice Museum, then assures her he’s kidding.
Mackenzie is packing her case when she hears Mali in the corridor telling Levi she’s booked a ticket to Queensland. She joins them, saying it’s non-refundable. She accuses Mali of dobbing her in but he says he won’t apologise for worrying about her and heads out the back. Levi thinks that going to see Dean, Ziggy and the baby is the last thing Mackenzie needs and wonders if she was going to tell him or just disappear. Mackenzie simply says she’s going.
Leah is with Alf and Marilyn at the Diner and apologises for snapping at them when they visited. She says she fell asleep last night and had a dream where Theo was calling out to her and she couldn’t help him. Justin arrives and says there’s no news from the police before suggesting they go home. Meanwhile, Cash and Eden are walking around the zoo again. Cash is going for a run and suggests Eden come with him or they buy her some clothes and she start tomorrow. Eden says that wasn’t in their vows. Cash jogs off and Eden tell a giraffe to keep eyes off him.
Leah and Justin arrive home. Justin offers to heat up one of the meals Marilyn brought round but Leah can’t face it. There’s a knock at the door which turns out to be Cassandra. Both Leah and Justin give her a hug. Cassandra says she’s come to pick up Theo’s things. They tell her that Theo hasn’t lived there for months.
Levi asks Mackenzie if Dean and Ziggy know about the miscarriage or even the IVF. Mackenzie says she wants to get away from pity eyes. She laments telling everyone she was pregnant. Levi says he’ll look after telling people and she won’t need to. Mackenzie says that she’ll be in Queensland, far away from it all.
Cash and Eden pack their things. Eden wants to stay there. Cash says they have a job and friends but are sticking together. He wonders where they’re going to live, since she isn’t keen on living with Tane, Harper and Archie and he isn’t keen on living with Remi. Later, they arrive back at the Lyrik house but find no-one there. Cash finds a letter to Eden from Remi. He says he’s moved out and paid up the rent for the rest of the year. Eden wonders where he is.
Cassandra says she knew about Lacey but not that it was this serious. Leah says it was complicated when Theo and Lacey got together. She reminds Cassandra of the car falling on Theo and says that was Lacey’s fault. Justin interjects that she and her then boyfriend were into illegal street racing. Leah says they dragged Theo into it and goes on to say that Lacey dragging Theo into something was how he died. Cassandra is confused and Leah decides to take her to David to explain.
At the Diner, Alf and Marilyn discuss how they wish they could help Leah. Justin arrives and says they don’t have to stop talking. He tells them about Cassandra turning up and Leah taking her to see David. He doesn’t know details of the funeral but assumes it will be in the city.
David sits down with Leah and Cassandra at the station. He explains that Lacey was confronting an alleged criminal and asked Theo to go with her for safety. He adds that it’s the same driver that killed his wife. Leah insists Lacey got Theo killed. David says he was a fine young man and saved his daughter’s life, dying a hero. Leah says he shouldn’t have died at all. Cassandra asks to speak with David alone. Meanwhile, Eden has got a message from Remi saying he’s fine and not to worry but hasn’t told her where he is. She is worried about him but Cash suggests they take him at his word and move in.
Mackenzie is about to leave with her cases. Levi says trying to pretend she doesn’t care will be torture and they should be dealing with this as a team. Mackenzie pauses for a moment, then hears her taxi outside and leaves. Mali comes back through to find Levi sitting alone. He says he isn’t sure if Mackenzie’s coming back.
David shows Cassandra out of his office. Cassandra tells Leah that she trusted her to look after Theo. Leah is aghast that Cassandra’s blaming her and thinks David’s lied to her to get Lacey off the hook. Cassandra says David is trying to bring her son’s murderer to justice and Leah is just attacking him. She says Leah isn’t welcome at the funeral and to stay away from her family. Leah looks back at an oblivious David in shock.
