Extended Summary

Levi brings Mackenzie breakfast in bed, noting he’s been up for hours. They are looking forward to having a day off together before the wedding but Levi gets a text calling him in to work. Mackenzie gets a phone call from her mum and says she has news for her. At the beach house, Lacey and Jo continue to press that Wendell going to the funeral must be out of guilt. David insists it’s circumstantial. Lacey admits to taking photos of his white board and says he shouldn’t have kept them in the dark. Jo cuts in to stop the argument.

Sonny comments that it’s a shame that Dana won’t come to the wedding. Dana snaps that he seems cut up about it before walking out. Sonny wonders what he’s missing. Bree says quite a bit. Meanwhile, Alf greets Mackenzie at the surf club, saying that with Roo away and John off to Paris, someone has to organise the committee meeting. He tries to talk to her about it but she has to rush off to be sick.

Dana arrives back at the house, complaining to Harper about Sonny going to the wedding. Harper doesn’t want her to stay if it’s an issue and doesn’t think Sonny going to a friend’s wedding is a big deal, saying she can’t be angry with him over something she hasn’t told him. Meanwhile, Sonny again asks Bree what he’s missing, since he thought he and Dana worked through what happened with Harper. Bree suggests she’s upset he’s going to the wedding without her. Sonny says she didn’t say anything. Bree suggests she didn’t think she had to.

Jo tries to sit everyone down for a calm chat. Lacey wants David to be honest. David admits he was on Wendell’s trail but was told to stand down by his superintendent after Wendell’s lawyer complained of a conflict of interests. Lacey refuses to give up and tells them about calling Wendell and threatening to go to the media if he doesn’t come clean. Both David and Jo are shocked.

Dana meets Sonny on the balcony at Salt and apologises for her attitude at the house. Sonny says he misses signals so wants to know if there’s anything else. Dana says she doesn’t have any right to ask him to stay but, when pushed, admits that she’d rather he didn’t go. Dana returns home and tells Harper she apologised but also told Sonny she didn’t want him to go. Harper says that wasn’t the plan. Dana says he asked her straight out and wonders if she should have lied, since now he’ll think she’s selfish.

David berates Lacey, saying it’s blackmail and it might result in Wendell fleeing to another country and never being brought to justice. Lacey says she used a fake name but also says she watched his house. David is worried Wendell knows what she looks like, since he went to the funeral. Lacey admits he hasn’t responded yet but is convinced she did the right thing. She ends up walking out. David stops Jo going after her.

Levi welcomes Bree back to the hospital. He gets a text from John reminding him of the wedding rehearsal; the bridal party are travelling down this afternoon but he’s been there several hours. He expresses disappointment that Bree won’t be joining them. He is bewildered that Eden’s getting married tomorrow and he’s walking her down the aisle after everything that’s happened. Meanwhile, Mackenzie accepts a delivery from a courier. She experiences a momentary pain before opening it and finding a pregnancy journal with a note from her mum.

Harper is resting on the couch as Dana is telling Archie she won’t miss the drunk bridesmaids and boring best man speech. Sonny turns up with a bag and asks if he can stay there for a couple of days. Harper sleepily says it works for her. Sonny jokes that he didn’t want to outshine the groom before saying he wants to be there for her. Dana gives him Archie to change his nappy.

Mackenzie is writing a note to “tadpole baby” in the journal. She rings Levi, who is glad it’s not John. She tells him about telling her mum and being sent the journal. Levi notes that’ll keep her busy for the next nine months. As he hangs up, he realises Bree heard and has worked out what’s going on. She congratulates him. Mackenzie experiences another twinge before continuing to write.

Lacey is back at the Diner flat, still hoping for a reply from Wendell. David turns up and insists he hasn’t given up on the investigation and has continued to look into it at home. He says she can’t go rogue and not has to tell him what she’s going on. Lacey agrees on condition he tells her what he’s doing too. David agrees.

Later, Jo meets the two of them outside the surf club. They explain Lacey’s agreed not to go near Wendell and David’s going to investigate on the quiet. David leaves but Lacey asks Jo to stay; she wants her to have another hypnotherapy session. Jo says she’s booked in for another one in a few weeks but Lacey wants her to go as soon as possible to get more information.

Mackenzie is sat looking shell-shocked. Levi arrives back from work and asks about the journal, then notices her mood. Mackenzie says she’s bleeding.
