Extended Summary

Theo stands on the beach, looking out to sea. Justin comes back from the surf and tries to say that it was terrible and Theo would hate it. Theo is about to have his first sesion with Tane. He asks about Leah and if she’s still smashing Justin at PlayStation. At the Diner flat, Sonny tells Dana that Harper asked what his intentions were and tries to convince her to have lunch. Theo comes in and Dana jumps with fright before seeing it’s him. Sonny explains that, statistically speaking, it was more likely to be Harper.

At the coffee cart, Harper complains to Irene and Marilyn about asking a reasonable question and not gettig a straight answer. Marilyn suggests that asking about plans takes the romance out of it. Harper says Marilyn doesn’t know Sonny. Marilyn says she does but Irene shuts down her commentary and convinces Harper to take a seat.

Remi arrives home on the phone to Avalon, saying it was a good session and he’ll meet her later. He goes to lie down on his bed but then Justin knocks on the door and asks about the session with Kirby. Remi says it went well but he has to be back at the studio later. Justin notes Remi looks tired and says he’ll leave him to get some sleep. Remi ends up inviting him to stay and listen to some tracks, realising he’s at a loose end now Theo’s moved out.

Levi invites Mackenzie to join him for lunch. He realies something is up. Mackenzie says technically the phone call was good news but she’s frustrated: Instead of a problem she could find a solution for, everything’s fine and she’s still not pregnant. She adds that if he says it’s early days she’ll find someone else to have a baby with. Levi suggests they celebrate the good news.

Justin listens to the track on headphones while Remi sits nearby half asleep, and tells him that track three is great. He suggests he clears things at the garage and accompanies them into studio. Remi admits the session tonight isn’t to do with Kirby and asks if Justin’s heard of Avalon Bracken. Justin says Kirby’s been messaging him saying she’s stealing her songs. Remi explains about being invited to be a featured artist…but he hasn’t told Kirby.

Levi finds Mackenzie looking at a fertility clinic website, saying they sell ovulation kits. She says Levi might be a doctor but he doesn’t know when she’s ovulating. Levi doesn’t think the kits are very accurate and doesn’t think they’re at that point yet. Mackenzie says she is and she hoped he cared as much as her. At the coffee cart, Irene points out to Harper that the danger with Sonny is over and suggests this is because she’s been through the mill herself. She suggests Harper arrange to meet Dana instead of just turning up.

Theo is doing reps with the small dumbbells Tane gave him. Sonny catches Dana muttering and realises it’s about Harper. Dana says she supported Harper over Tane even though she knew it was a mistake and doesn’t get why she won’t do the same. She decides to go home and get some clean clothes. After she’s gone, Theo says they’re cute and Sonny tells him to do more reps.

Mackenzie comes back and apologises to Levi. He comments that she’s used to being in control but this is one big mystery to her. He thinks the ovulation kits and tests won’t give her that control and being stressed will just make it harder to conceive…plus there’s a more fun way of doing it. Mackenzie agrees.

Justin has looked up Avalon and notes she’s a big deal. Remi says her debut album’s still in the charts. He says Kirby would be pleased for him if it was anyone else, but he needs to focus her on finishing the album. He’s working with Kirby during the day and Avalon at night and needs Justin to keep quiet. Meanwhile, Irene and Harper arrive back at the Diner. Sonny is there and orders two flat whites and a long black. Harper says if one of them’s for Dana then she likes blueberry muffins. She starts off apologising for earlier, then says he never answered her and asks him to promise that he won’t hurt Dana or make promises he can’t keep. Sonny says he likes to underpromise and overdeliver. Irene gives him the muffin and says the coffees will follow without the interrogation.

Harper runs into Dana and asks if she got her text. Dana says she already told Harper to stay out of her life. Harper suggests they talk tonight if Dana’s coming home. Dana says she’ll be with Sonny and her intentions aren’t pure. Harper notes at least she can give her a straight answer. Dana realises she’s harassed Sonny again and accuses her of being weird. Dana ends up walking off with them continuing to shout at each other.

At the flat, Sonny asks Theo what happened between Harper and Tane. Theo doesn’t know the details but tells him that they called off their wedding on the morning of the service. Dana turns up and apologises about Harper. Sonny presents her with the muffin and says Harper told him it was her favourite at the same time as having a go. He wonders if it’s more than her being protective.

Remi brings Justin a beer at Salt, saying they’re making him a coffee before he heads back to the studio. Justin reluctantly agrees to keep it from Kirby. Remi then gets a text from Kirby wanting to talk about chord progressions and asks Justin to go see her and tell her to trust her instincts. Levi and Mackenzie come in. Levi has to get to work and Mackenzie suggests they do the fun part when he gets back. After he’s gone, she goes back to the website and selects multiple items to buy.

Dana and Sonny are relaxing at the flat without Theo but Sonny thinks she needs to address things with Harper. He thinks maybe she needs to be supportive of her again and finally says he’s kicking her out. He gently steers her to the door, telling her to go see Harper and she’s got it.

Sonny goes to Salt and meets up with Theo, who says Lacey’s got a night shift at a bar in Reefton Lakes. Sonny explains about sending Dana to sort things with Harper. Theo says he’s spent the whole day comforting her, got her a special treat from the Diner and is sorting out her family stuff: It sounds like she’s his girlfriend.

At the Diner, Irene checks on Dana. Harper turns up, having got a message from Dana to meet her there. Harper says that Dana needs to be sure Sonny feels the same way or she’ll get hurt. Dana realises that Sonny was right: Harper is worried he’ll hurt Dana the way Tane hurt Harper.
