Extended Summary
Tane, Harper and Dana are still at Salt with Archie, with Dana worrying about the lack of updates from Cash. Harper asks Dana why she sneaked out. Dana tries to deny she did, then says she wanted to support Sonny in court. Harper calls it ridiculous, saying she barely knows Sonny. Dana asks if Harper can stop hassling her until they know Sonny and Theo are safe. Harper gives her a withering look and Dana walks out. Tane stops Harper going after her, saying Dana needs support. Meanwhile, Eden arrives home and leaves a message for Remi saying to call her back. She starts to take the banner down but then gets a text from her dad saying he’s heard her news and is happy for her.
Cash and Lacey arrive back at the police station. Lacey has just given her evidence and notes how angry Gage looked. Cash says he won’t get out of prison for a long time but Lacey worries that the River Boys will kill Theo and Sonny if they aren’t found before Gage is convicted. Leah and Justin arrive and Leah asks if Lacey is under arrest, calling her the reason Theo was taken. Cash tells them to sit down and wait for an update. Out in the bush, Theo complains about Sonny pacing while Sonny reminds Theo to ration the water. Theo has started bleeding and Sonny goes to get a jacket to stem the bleed. In the process, he finds Lacey’s phone but it has no signal. Theo tells him to go and find some reception.
While Cash is on the phone, Leah continues to complain about Lacey, despite Justin trying to argue that they’re on the same team. Lacey insists she didn’t tell the River Boys where Theo was. Cash arrives with the news Gage has been convicted and will be held on remand. Leah tells Lacey she should have stayed away and Cash tells her to leave and he’ll call her if there’s an update. Meanwhile, Tane rejoins Harper and Archie at the surf club and says Dana’s with Irene. Harper thanks him for going after her, saying she’s used to it just being the two of them and it’s nice to have someone in their corner.
Sonny stumbles through the bush, trying to get a signal. Nearby, Diesel and his men are speeding along a road, saying “the clowns” don’t send Gage to prison and get away with it. Sonny finally gets a signal and makes a call. Down on the beach, Eden approaches Levi who says it’s good to see her back and comments on her missing Debra meeting Mali. Eden asks if he told their father about her engagement. Levi denies it but Eden remains furious.
Leah and Justin pull up near the coffee cart with Leah still furious about being sent away. They run into Irene and Dana and share the news that Gage has been convicted. Leah says Cash threw them out and Justin explains that things got tense with Lacey. Meanwhile, Cash drops off Lacey, worried about leaving her in public and her not having a phone for updates. Lacey says she’ll find a way to call him. Tane approaches looking for an update. Cash gets a call saying Sonny called 000 and the call’s been traced. He says he’ll call for back-up but Tane gets in the car, refusing to let Cash go alone, and Cash doesn’t have time to argue.
The River Boys haul Theo to his feet. Diesel wonders where Sonny is and Theo says he just left him there. Sonny is nearby and Diesel says he has five seconds to come out, punching Theo on two. Sonny emerges and Diesel says Gage is in prison. Sonny suggests they all walk away but Diesel says it doesn’t work like that. They hear sirens and the police car pulls up with Cash and Tane jumping out. The two men holding Theo immediately surrender and Cash grabs the one by the car. Diesel tries to put up a fight and Tane overpowers him.
At the coffee cart, Irene thanks Dana for helping. Dana gets a call from Tane and tells Leah, Justin and a newly-arrived Harper that everyone’s safe and at the station. Leah and Justin head off. Dana wants to go and see Sonny. Harper says she can do what she wants, but the way Dana’s been worrying about Sonny all day is how Harper worries about her, so she needs to think it through.
Levi approaches Eden at Salt, insisting he hasn’t spoken to their dad in months and knows not to talk to him about Eden. Eden accepts it but doesn’t want him back in her life. Levi wonders why that would be bad. Eden says he destroyed the most important marriage she knew, and she doesn’t want a reminder of how it could go wrong when she’s marrying Cash. Later, the two of them head outside, wondering who did tell their dad. Levi suggests Abigail but Eden thinks she doesn’t talk to him. Levi convinces her to forget about it and enjoy the engagement, saying he’s happy for her.
Cash has the River Boys marched into cells and orders Diesel taken into the interview room. Diesel tries to get Tane charged with assault and Tane says Diesel should be careful who he picks a fight with. Theo adds that Diesel should tell Gage that Lacey is with him when he sees him in prison. Sonny thanks Cash and Tane, and Cash says Reefton Lakes officers have picked up the bodyguards. Leah and Justin turn up and Leah wants to get Theo home but Theo says he needs to see Lacey. Leah starts talking about everything she’s done and Theo asks how she still doesn’t get it. Cash lets him and Sonny go, saying they can give their statements tomorrow.
A police car drops Theo and Sonny off in town and they take a breath before Sonny goes to see Dana on the beach, saying he got away with a bruised ego. He goes to hold her but Dana says she can’t see him any more: She likes him but doesn’t really know him. Sonny suggests they can get to know each other and says it’s safe now. Dana doesn’t think he can guarantee that and walks away. Meanwhile, Lacey is in the flat when Theo appears. They kiss softly and he assures her he’s okay.
At the Lyrik house, Eden welcomes Sonny back. He asks if Remi’s around and Eden admits he and Kirby have been in the studio the whole time. Sonny says he’s fine and comments on Eden’s engagement ring, with them noting Cash didn’t invite him to the party. Sonny comments on what a traditonal guy Cash is, picturing a church, a big white dress and her father walking her down the aisle…then he remembers that won’t be happening and apologises.
Across the road, Tane heads out to see Harper, and Cash jokingly suggests he could join the police force. Eden turns up and asks Cash if he told her father they were engaged and asked his permission.
