Levi makes roads to closing a chapter. Leah worries for Theo’s future. An old friend comes to visit Remi.
Extended Summary
Kirby and Mali are finishing off a lesson on the beach. Mali comments on Kirby getting back into the swing of things after receiving her apology from Contract Advertising. Kirby asks how Abigail is doing. Mali admits he hasn’t spoken to her since she went to her counselling session yesterday. At the farm house, Abigail is still trying to convince Levi to talk to Imogen about a divorce. She wonders what Mackenzie thinks and Levi says it’s never come up. Abigail suggests he doesn’t bury his head in the sand like their dad did.
At the garage, Leah expresses concern about Theo’s loan, which he notes is $20,000. Theo thinks the bank wouldn’t have lent it to him if they didn’t think he could repay it. He shows Leah the contract but she thinks he’s just replaced one problem with another. Theo thinks it’s none of her or Justin’s business. Leah decides to go to work and Justin goes with her.
Abigail is surprised that Levi is actually looking up divorce on the computer. She wonders if Imogen doesn’t know his address in order to serve him and Levi says she does, recalling how she sent him his stuff and sent Mackenzie her wedding rings (which Abigail quietly approves of). She encourages Levi to call Imogen but asks for a lift to the surf club first.
Kirby comes home and finds Remi playing guitar, which she notes is what he’s always doing. Remi says he thought she went to work. Kirby says she did, hours ago, and he hasn’t moved. Remi asks where Eden is and Kirby says she went away with Cash. Remi tries to get her to agree with him that them getting back together is a bad idea.
Leah and Justin arrive at the Diner. Leah thinks Theo has taken on too much with the loan. Justin is more on the fence, suggesting that the car makes him happy and having to handle the loan might be good for him. Leah says he could be in debt for years. Justin accepts her arguments and agrees to talk to Theo.
Abigail meets up with Mali near the beach and comments on not having heard from him. Mali explains about giving her space. Their kiss is interrupted by Levi, who bemuses them by inviting them for coffee. They decide to go for a walk instead. Levi calls Imogen and gets through to her voicemail, leaving a rambling voice message in which he hopes she’s kicking goals before asking her to call him back if she can.
Later, Abigail and Mali are walking on the beach. Mali asks how her counselling’s going. Abigail says it helps, which disappoints her because it shows she needs it. Mali assures her he thinks of her as a survivor. Kirby appears and reminds Mali he has a class starting soon. Abigail “reminds” Levi that he has an appointment that will last the rest of the day. Kirby agrees to cover the class.
Justin meets up with Theo in a park. Theo thinks Justin is going to tell him that he’s talked Leah round. Instead, Justin tries to talk Theo into cancelling the loan, saying they’ll cover the penalty payments. Theo however insists on going ahead, saying it’s his decision. Later, Remi meets up with Theo at the surf club. Remi wonders how you can tell someone they’re making a mistake, admitting he’s worried about Eden. Theo tells him about Leah and Justin not wanting him to take out the loan. Remi says he can lend Theo the money but Theo doesn’t want handouts.
Theo and Remi part outside the surf club and Remi runs into Levi, who is checking to see if he’s got a phone call. Remi asks Levi if he’s worried about Eden. Levi says it’s none of his business and that Eden’s working it out and taking it slow, and they have to trust her. Meanwhile, Theo approaches Leah and Justin at the coffee cart. They both make attempts to talk to him but Theo says it’s his decision and he’s not interested in their opinion: He doesn’t have a uni debt or a credit card and he has job security.
Abigail and Mali arrive back in the living area of the farm house (Mali shirtless) but they are disturbed by Levi. Mali tries to claim he was shaping some boards before Abigail sends him to put a shirt on. Levi says he rang Imogen and left a message. Mali heads off to relieve Kirby at work, with Abigail following after telling Levi to call again. Levi calls Imogen and is surprised when she answers.
Leah tells Justin that she’s angry on the inside but doesn’t want to fall out with Theo. Justin suggests the car could be good for him and Leah admits to being impressed by what he said. Justin promises to support him. At the garage, Theo is working on the car when Justin turns up. Justin holds out a hand, Theo passes him a tool and they work on the car together.
Remi tries to get Kirby to abandon work and have a drink with him but she says Mali’s on his way back and she’d rather be in the quiet empty house. Remi heads upstairs, saying he’s not too proud to drink alone. Mali and Abigail arrive and Kirby asks about the “appointment”. Abigail notices one of the posters with the unaltered photo of them and compliments them on it. Kirby heads home and hears someone in the shower and a man whistling. She grabs a bowling pin and swings it as the door opens, stopping when she recognises the intruder as Sonny, who asks what sort of welcome that is.
At Salt, Remi considers texting Eden but keeps changing his mind. Mali turns up to collect a takeaway and they exchange brief words. Remi gets a call from Kirby and asks if she’s changed her mind, cancelling the order and rushing out when he hears her news. At the house, Kirby is chiding a now-dressed Sonny for breaking in. Sonny says it’s not breaking and entering if the back door’s always unlocked. Remi arrives home and warmly greets Sonny, who says he heard Remi had come into some money and wants to help spend it.
