Extended Summary

Mackenzie and Levi are arguing outside the farm house. Levi says he wasn’t expecting Mackenzie back so soon. Mackenzie is worried about what Abigail being there might mean for them, wondering if a drug dealer might turn up looking for her. Abigail comes out, asking if it’s all sorted. Mackenzie heads back inside and Levi warns Abigail not to.

At the Newman house, Tane loiters awkwardly as Perri unpacks in his new room. Perri offers to swap rooms then wonders if he can put some posters up. He dreams of getting a TV. Tane says he’ll have to pay board as well. Perri starts to argue, then accepts it. Tane explains that he used to share the room with Felicity and encourages Perri to put up an All Blacks poster.

Eden is collecting glasses at Salt while Cash shoots her looks. She tells him he can’t take his eyes off her, explaining to a pair of customers that they were engaged until two weeks ago. Cash doesn’t want to do this in front of the customers but Eden points out he won’t do it in private so he escorts her into the store room for a chat. She gets him to look at her and tells him he’s being irrational, the universe isn’t out to get them and they were good together. Cash says it’s over and she needs to leave it.

At the farm house, Levi notes they didn’t get off on the best foot and he’d like them to get on. Mackenzie says she has questions. Abigail bluntly says she owes money to a drug dealer who tried to sell her. Mackenzie says she wants to know who’s under her roof. Abigail says it’s also Levi’s roof and Mackenzie retorts that it’s her name on the lease. Abigail says she’s stopped using and doesn’t intends to start again. Mackenzie asks if she’ll say if that changes. Abigail retorts that she will if Mackenzie says next time she sleeps with a married man. She asks to see the lease and Mackenzie offers to show her the door instead. Levi steps in and Abigail storms out.

Arriving at the gym, Perri asks Tane if he could give him some extra shifts, saying the decent TVs are expensive. Tane suggests he could help out with the 6am classes and Perri says he’ll get a cheaper one. They find a hand-delivered letter for Perri, which surprises him. Tane opens it: It tells him to keep his mouth shut. Perri realises it’s from Carl and goes into a panic, saying his bail conditions were supposed to keep him away. Tane tries to calm him.

Mackenzie asks Levi if he can guarantee that Abigail won’t steal from them or bring drugs into the house. Levi can’t, but says he’ll try to keep them all safe. Abigail enters and Mackenzie heads off to Salt. Levi tells Abigail the situation isn’t ideal. Abigail agrees: She’s wearing Eden’s clothes, Mackenzie hates her and she still feels sick.

Eden is back clearing tables with Cash working nearby. She tries to tell him her life has been upended too. Cash insists nothing is going to change. Eden takes off her engagement ring and puts it on the table, telling him she’d better get back to work. Later, Cash tries to convince her to take the ring back, saying he bought it for her and she can keep it or sell it. Eden is unimpressed and announces she’d finished for the day.

Tane is outside the surf club on the phone to Rose, saying none of the gym workers saw who delivered the letter but something has to be done. Mackenzie comes along and says this doesn’t seem like a good time to give him a serve, reminding him he moved out with just a text. Tane says the opportunity came up and it’s best for Perri and Cash. Mackenzie accepts that. Tane asks for her advice.

Levi tells Abigail he’s made her her favourite from when she was a kid: Cheese toastie. Abigail says she’s not a kid anymore but accepts it anyway. She says she’s not going to rob the place: She stole from her brother once. Levi reminds her about the surf club money. He offers to have her stuff brought there but asks her to try and get on with Mackenzie, with them reflecting there’s a reason he walked out on his marriage and he expects to spend the rest of his life with her. Abigail notes he never used to be this corny.

In the gym office, Tane has shown the note to Mackenzie. She tries to tell him that Perri’s safe. Tane says that Perri’s spooked and he has to make sure he testifies after everything they’ve gone through. Meanwhile, Eden arrives home and calls out for Remi or Kirby without getting an answer. She sits down, looking at her now ringless finger, and cries. Across the road, Cash looks at the ring before putting it in his pocket. He gets a beer from the fridge, pausing to look at the photo of Felicity pinned on it as he does so.

Mackenzie pulls up outside the farm house and is greeted by Levi. She reminds him that they’ve had trouble come to the house in the past and he nearly died in her arms as a result. Abigail listens in from inside as Levi tries to reassure Mackenzie. Mackenzie suggests that he’s trying to fix things with Abigail because he didn’t manage it with Eden. Abigail walks away before Levi says that she’s his sister as well and he wants to help her.

Cash gets up to find Tane making breakfast. Tane asks how things are going at Salt, noting it’s different from catching crims. Perri comes in and picks up on the fact Cash used to be a cop, asking for his advice on the court case. He asks if Carl will definitely go away if he testifies against him. Cash shoots a look at Tane, who suggests they talk to the prosecutor. Perri presses the point and Cash says there’s no guarantee, but if he doesn’t testify, Carl will definitely get away with it. Later, Cash is looking at the ring and puts it away in a drawer. Eden turns up and tells Cash she’s resigning from Salt: He doesn’t want her around and neither does she.

Mackenzie tells Levi she’s making breakfast for them all. Levi is pleased and goes to get Abigail, but ends up coming outside on his own, saying she wasn’t in her room. Mackenzie suggests she might be out there. Levi looks around and realises his car is missing. He drives around in Mackenzie’s car and finds his parked near the beach, with Abigail standing at the railing. She says she was going to leave the keys at Salt and can’t stay. Levi says she can’t cope on her own. Abigail says she’s not Eden and thinks Levi only wants her there because of a guilt complex. Levi tries to deny it.
