Extended Summary

Levi is walking down the beach on the phone to Eden, telling her to get things done while Abigail’s sleeping. He runs into Mackenzie, who has just finished a surf. She notes she’s missed him the last couple of days and his patients are lucky he’s so dedicated. At the surf club, Rose is filling Perri in on the details of his court appearance. Perri is still nervous about seeing Carl, and Rose tells him he’ll only need to be there while giving evidence. She says she’ll let the magistrate know his decision and they can meet later. She suggests it might be an idea to have Tane there for support next time they meet and Perri agrees that would be good.

Alf and Mali are walking near the beach. Alf suggests making the final is still an achievement and Mali accepts he got carried away. However, when they see Kirby coming, he asks Alf not to tell her anything even though Alf points out she’ll find out soon enough. Kirby asks why they look so serious and Alf says the snapper aren’t biting.

Harper is walking Cash home. She tries to ask how he’s going but he isn’t in a talkative mood. Harper suggests it might have been strange seeing her and Tane together and insists she’s going to talk to Cash. Meanwhile, Tane arrives at the surf club. Perri isn’t happy that Tane wasn’t there for the meeting and didn’t answer his call. Tane says he was with Harper and Perri says Tane’s ditched him before the baby’s even there. Tane says he’s doing his best but there’s more than one person that needs him at the moment.

Cash and Harper arrive back at the Newman house, which is in a bit of a state. Harper suggests Cash has questions about the pregnancy. Cash wonders how she and Tane went from being just friends to having a baby. Harper says they thought Tane was going to prison and it just happened. Cash recalls it was Tane wanting a baby that wrecked his and Felicity’s marriage. Harper says they’re just co-parents but she’s happy about being a mum. She asks for his blessing and he hugs her. She notices the packed bags and he says he was thinking of going away but is too busy with Salt. Harper notes he’s moving on without moving.

Mackenzie is giving Levi coffee at Salt. He gets a text from Eden saying Abigail’s awake and tells Mackenzie he has to check on a patient. As he’s leaving, Kirby appears and says she heard Abigail was back. Levi says he can’t talk now and Kirby says she’ll check in with Eden later. Mackenzie is confused, since last she heard Abigail was missing. She realises she’s Levi’s patient.

Kirby wonders why Mali isn’t checking his phone for announcements. Mali says a new rule is that they don’t use phones at work. Alf overhears and asks if there’s still no word. Mali leaves for a lesson and Alf avoids Kirby’s comments about the nerves getting to him. Tane and Perri emerge from the gym. Perri talks about what Rose said and says at least he’ll have Tane there. Tane says they need to talk about that but they’re interrupted by Harper, and Perri says Tane’s all hers. Tane tells Harper that he’s trying to sort Thursday out. Harper comments on Cash being all alone in the house.

Levi admits to finding Abigail and getting her off the drugs with Eden. He says Mackenzie was judgemental about her. Mackenzie says she just gave her opinion and that not only has Levi lied to her, he’s made her look a fool for praising him for looking after his patients. Levi says he’s not leaving until he’s made things right.

Alf calls Mali into the office: A courier has dropped off his painting and an envelope that turns out to contain a certificate of commendation. Alf encourages him to tell Kirby. He goes over to her and tells her that he heard back about the competition. Kirby wonders if he’s psyching her out before telling her he won. Mali tells her he didn’t win and shows her the certificate. To his surprise, Kirby is delighted and hugs him.

Tane finds Cash out the back of the Newman house cleaning the pool. He notes Harper’s worried about him and indicates he misses Felicity too. He suggests he could move back in if it’s something Cash wants, since he and Perri need a place. Cash agree. Meanwhile, Harper finds Perri cleaning up after a class on the beach. He tells her about testifying against Carl. Harper suggests she could go over his statement with him and wonders how long they have to prepare. Perri tells her it’s next Thursday.

Mackenzie serves Rose at Salt. She tells Levi tables are for paying customers and isn’t amused when he orders a water. Rose runs into Cash and asks if he’s returning to Mangrove River station. He says he’s busy with Salt. He approaches Mackenzie and says he has ideas to save money with suppliers. Mackenzie says she’s busy so Cash makes various offers to help out (she reminds him he doesn’t have an RSA) before she eventually consents to him putting the contents of some delivery boxes lying nearby on the shelves.

Tane, Harper and Perri arrive at the Newman house with Tane and Perri’s things. Tane assigns himself Nikau’s old room, giving his and Felicity’s old room to Perri. Perri heads out the back. Harper wonders why Tane didn’t tell her about the court date and says she can move her appointment. Tane says he was trying to make her the priority. Harper says she’ll give him the benefit of the doubt if he communicates better. Perri calls them outside and says Tane never said there was a pool, suggesting they get in. Tane points out he’s in his clothes. Perri isn’t too bothered and they wrestle by the pool.

Cash finishes the shelving and Mackenzie suggests he clear some tables. He and Levi briefly chat about Eden. Mackenzie tries telling Cash it’s illegal to be behind the bar and Cash says that isn’t the case if he’s not serving alcohol. Levi tries to intervene as Mackenzie snaps that Cash doesn’t know the first thing about running a restaurant and she doesn’t want him there.

Levi follows Mackenzie onto the balcony. Mackenzie says she’ll apologise to Cash but also thinks he’s trying to find a problem to fix. Levi says he himself was trying to fix things between them but will go back to the motel. Mackenzie apologises to Cash, saying it wasn’t professional, nice or fair, but also says he’d make an excellent silent partner and should leave running the restaurant to her. Cash says the restaurant was what Felicity was most proud of and he’s not going to be pushed away.
