Rose meets up with Iluka near the surf club. He asks if she’s seen Mali and she notes last she heard he was headed home. She comments on Iluka being involved with Kirby. Iluka wonders what Mali has told her about him. Rose says he told her there’s nothing to worry about and she’s choosing to believe that. At the farm house, Mackenzie tends to Levi while Mali tries to convince Nat he’ll give her the money if she lets him call an ambulance. Nat takes his phone and Mackenzie urges him to call Iluka, as Levi says there’s air in his chest cavity deflating his lungs.
Iluka tells Rose he needs something to go his way now he’s given up on footie. He answers a call from Mali who tells him about the Allens being at the house. He dismisses it to Rose before running to his car. Mali tells Nat Iluka’s on his way but doesn’t know how long he’ll be. Mackenzie tries to get them to call an ambulance,. Levi suggest they get his medical kit but Campbell stops Mali going. Mackenzie makes to go herself but Levi tells her to improvise with cling wrap.
At the Morgan house, Leah and Justin discuss Ava being on her own and Justin says Nina’s fractured pelvis won’t heal overnight. Theo comes home mid-conversation and gets filled in. Justin decides to call Nina while Leah heads into work. Once there, Leah wonders why Irene didn’t respond to her calls and why she’s encouraging people to sue them. Irene says she’s getting a sick woman the treatment she needs. Leah says she’s putting their business at risk. Irene thinks the insurance company won’t find out and says she’s not taking money from the till. Marilyn, who has been listening awkwardly, says a box needs taking to the coffee cart and Leah decides to do it.
Levi directs Mackenzie to cover the wound. The others see it for the first time and Nat shoots Campbell a filthy look, telling him he messed up. Mali helps Mackenzie tape the covering closed on three sides. Levi starts breathing better but says it won’t last for long. Iluka joins them. Meanwhile, Justin and Theo turn up at the coffee cart. Justin explains that Nina thought Ava was staying with a friend. He wants her to come and stay with them but knows it caused trouble last time. Theo says he and Ava are all good now and Leah also agrees.
Irene complains to Marilyn that she’s getting attitude from Dana at home and now from Leah at work and no-one can see what she’s doing. Marilyn serves Rose, who is dressed up for her date with Mali and notes that she hasn’t seen much of him since Iluka’s been in town. Irene decides to go for a walk and Rose offers to go with her. Irene asks about Iluka and Rose says he’s nothing like Mali.
At the farm house, Iluka has handed over the money but Nat insists Gordie count it. She rubs Iluka’s chest intimately, noting they had fun and he broke her heart. Iluka looks uncomfortable. Mackenzie and Mali want to call an ambulance but Nat insists on making sure all the money’s there. As they continue to protest, Gordie mockingly says he’s lost count and will have to start again, counting it out in 50s and noting it’ll take time to get up to 8000.
Leah and Theo arrive home. Theo wonders if Leah’s worried about Ava but Leah says she’s the last of her worries. Justin appears and says Ava pointed out that making her move and change schools so close to the HSC would be even worse. Leah realises he’s saying he needs to go to her and agrees, saying she can look after the Diner on her own. Theo says he’ll look after the garage.
Levi is deteriorating but pleas to Nat continue to fall on deaf ears. Levi says they need to use a large needle cannular from his bag to let the air out. Campbell stops Mackenzie going and Mali protests that the Allens aren’t murderers. Nat agrees to let Mackenzie get the bag, telling Campbell to go with her.
Irene and Rose are at the coffee cart, with Irene in a flustered mood over all the objections she’s getting. Rose isn’t sure where Mali is and decides to give him a call. At the farm house, Mackenzie rushes back in with the bag. Nat notes Mali’s phone is ringing and goes to reject the call from Rose. Iluka says she’s a cop and Mali says she’ll come round if he doesn’t answer. Nat lets him take the call and he tells Rose that he can’t make it, saying he has a lot of board orders to get through and Iluka needs him. Levi directs Mackenzie where to put the needle. She isn’t comfortable with it and Mali ends up supporting her through it.
Theo looks over the jobs at the garage and tells Justin there’s nothing there he can’t handle. Leah comes back in with some clothes for Justin, and Theo leaves them alone to say goodbye. Justin asks Leah to come with him, saying she can visit her family. Leah says she’ll come and visit on her days off. After Justin has gone, she looks at an e-mail from the insurance company.
Iluka says he told them the money was all there. Nat says it was never about the money but about teaching him the consequences of his actions. Mali asks her to take him and Iluka and let Mackenzie and Levi go. Nat says Iluka’s the one they have a problem with and they’re taking him with them. Mali tries to object but Iluka goes along with it. As the Allens leave, Mackenzie tells Mali to phone an ambulance.
Leah heads to the Diner and tells Irene they need to talk. Irene protests that she’s sick of being interrogated and continues to insist that the insurance will cover it and she’s not taking money from the till. Leah replies that their claim’s been rejected and asks what Irene’s plan is now.
Levi is rushed into hospital with Mackenzie at his side. A paramedic tells her she’ll have to wait there. Mali appears and asks her if Levi’s okay. Mackenzie says she let Mali and Iluka into her home and he never told her the danger they were in, telling him to get the hell away from her.
