Extended Summary
Harper and Dana are having another race on the beach. Dana warns Harper she won’t be able to do this when she’s got a job, before asking how Harper’s getting on with her own job search. Harper is vague and they are interrupted by Tane, who offers them a place in his class, calling it a free trial. Harper declines, telling Dana they don’t have the money to join the gym. Dana just wants to take part and admire the scenery (ie Tane) so Harper goes along with it.
Irene tries to get Alf to head off to Merimbula but he says Martha is sleeping off the flu. Irene says her lawyer can get the hearing put back but she’s not sure what it would achieve. She gets a call from John but doesn’t take it and tells Alf to get off. At the hospital, Justin reminds Leah they’ve been told to get on with their lives, which includes planning the wedding. Alf turns up to check on Justin and also asks Leah to look in on Irene, explaining about the hearing. He offers to keep an eye on Justin until she gets back.
Harper and Dana, both somewhat tired out, help Tane carry his things back to the gym. Felicity joins them as Harper insists they take the things to the desk. Felicity and Tane kiss, which is seen by Mackenzie from the balcony. Felicity’s face falls when she sees Mackenzie, who seems to quickly realise the reason for it. Felicity hurries inside.
Leah turns up at the Diner, where Irene quickly realises Alf sent her. Leah tells her they’re all here for her. Later, as they sit and talk, Irene admits she’s been ignoring how serious the hearing is. Leah warns Irene not to shut people out. Harper and Dana turn up and Leah offers to look after the Diner while Irene goes and talks to them.
Felicity has followed Tane to the gym where she tries to convince him they should have the day off together. Tane wonders if this is anything to do with her reaction to Mackenzie. Felicity bemuses him by deciding to go into work after all. Upstairs, she notes she didn’t know Mackenzie was in today. Mackenzie thinks Felicity has been ignoring her, which she denies. Mackenzie asks if Felicity has told Tane the truth, Felicity tells her to mind her own business.
Later, Mackenzie says she thinks Felicity is still lying to Tane. Felicity admits that she’s still taking the pill. Mackenzie tries to convince her to come clean. At that moment, Tane comes up and asks what they’re arguing about. Felicity doesn’t answer and Mackenzie says it’s nothing. After Mackenzie’s gone, Felicity calls it a work issue. Tane follows Mackenzie downstairs and she gives the same answer. Tane thinks the problem is that Mackenzie is worried about Felicity going on maternity leave. Mackenzie denies it as Tane tells her to go easy on Flick.
Irene, Harper and Dana are walking on the beach. Irene reiterates that she made her own choices and the girls shouldn’t blame themselves. She admits her lawyer thinks she should delay but doesn’t think there’s a point. Dana notes she’s talking as if she’s going to prison. Irene says she might and decides to call Greta and tell her to go ahead. After Irene’s gone, Dana wonders what this means for Harper and Harper decides to call her lawyer. Some time later, Harper gets off the phone and says her lawyer has no date but still wants her to distance herself from Irene, which she still refuses to do. Dana asks what happened to her plan to get a job. Harper says she could get one and then go to prison.
Mackenzie comes back up and tells Felicity that Tane is asking questions. Felicity accuses Mackenzie of sticking her nose in, prompting Mackenzie to point out that she didn’t mean to stumble across Felicity’s secret. Mackenzie says either Felicity tells Tane or she does. Felicity goes to see Tane in the gym and tells him he shouldn’t have spoken to Mackenzie and she can look after herself. However, she can’t bring herself to say more and ends up burying her face in Tane’s shoulder, in tears.
Irene finishes a phone conversation with Greta, having told her they’ll go to court tomorrow, and tells Leah to go back to her fiance. As Leah leaves, Dana turns up, saying she knows she has no right to ask this, but Harper is still ignoring her lawyer’s advice about moving out and not accompanying Irene to court. She wants Irene to tell Harper to move out. Later, Dana is hovering nearby as Harper turns up in answer to Irene’s summons. Irene says that she’ll probably be going to jail soon so, despite Harper’s protests, she wants the girls to find somewhere else to live.
Tane takes Felicity home. Felicity asks if he’ll still love her if she never gets pregnant. Tane thinks she’s putting too much pressure on herself. He says he’ll tell Mackenzie she’s not coming back to work. Felicity still doesn’t want him to talk to her and says she’ll call her herself. Later, Tane encounters Mackenzie at the surf club and learns Felicity hasn’t called her. He asks her what’s going on. Mackenzie says it’s not her place. Tane replies that he’s going to find out eventually so she might as well tell him.
