Kirby clashes with Forrest. Cash steps up for Harper and Dana. Alf wants Roo back in the Bay.
Extended Summary
Bree and Cash run into each other near the surf club and Bree comments on their other halves going away. Cash says Eden texted him from the car after leaving. He notices Harper nearby and goes over to her. She queries him not getting in touch and he explains about Felicity doing the restorative justice. He says there’s no news but he has an idea.
Up in Salt, Kirby continues to berate Forrest for withdrawing the copyright without telling her, saying he manipulated the situation so he couldn’t talk to her friends about it. Forrest insists he acted in her best interests, saying she’d already compromised herself for her friends and that she might become frustrated when she wants to use one of the songs but Lyrik’s playing it. He says it’s simpler this way.
Cash and Harper walk in a park area. He says he’s printed off witness statements and reports and taken them home. Harper says that’s a risk and Cash points out so’s harbouring a fugitive. He wants to go over them with Dana to fill in the blanks. Soon after, the three of them are at the beach house and Cash explains he wants to establish a timeline for when the drugs were stolen. Dana says it was her day off: She slept in, did some housework, then met Harper for lunch. This catches Cash’s attention and he asks what time. Harper says they normally met around one. Cash says that detail’s not in the statement, even though Dana told Madden, while Harper was never interviewed and didn’t know she was Dana’s alibi. Cash says Dana’s hospital tag was used at 1.15. Harper finds texts showing them arranging to meet.
Justin returns keys to Alf at the Diner, saying it just needed a new air filter and apologising for how long it took. He still has a lot to do at work. Alf says Roo wants to come home and he’s not sure what’s stopping her. At the surf club, Bree asks Kirby how it went with Forrest. Kirby isn’t sure she trusts him anymore but also doesn’t know how to make it up with Remi and Eden. Alf arrives and asks Bree for another favour: Roo seems to be making progress but the city hospital won’t let her move closer to home.
Kirby arrives home to find it decked out with a banner and balloons. She looks amused but is uncomfortable when reading a congratulatory note. Forrest turns up and notes at least someone’s pleased for her. Kirby says it was her housemates but she feels a bit yuck now. Forrest says he can take her places but it’s up to her. Kirby goes to see Justin at the garage, where he’s just finished a phone conversation with Theo about being back at TAFE. He is amused to see her there without a car and she says she took a cab. She says she needs his advice.
Cash notes that they’d need more evidence than the text messages. Harper says she paid by credit card, but that doesn’t prove Dana was with her. She suggests CCTV and Cash realises the restaurant might have some. He leaves them a message. Dana flicks through the file and discovers Olly’s statement. At the garage, Justin tries to be objective as he advises Kirby, who has explained she didn’t know about the copyright. He says Forrest has a good reputation and knows what he’s doing, so suggests she lays down some ground rules for going forward.
Dana is aghast that Olly’s statement paints her as an addict, saying she’d stolen from the hospital before and he tried to get her to stop. Harper’s phone goes off and Cash hands it to her: It’s Madden, wanting her to go to Yabbie Creek police station for an interview. Cash accompanies her there, telling her to stick to short answers. Madden emerges from the interview room and mockingly comments on Cash’s presence. Harper says she wants him present and Madden agrees. As soon as they get into the room, he asks her where Dana is.
Kirby meets Forrest on the balcony at Salt. She tells him she doesn’t like how it played out and not to make decisions that affect her and her friends without discussing it. Forrest says he understands and hands her the itinerary. Kirby comments on him bringing it assuming she’d agreed. Forrest says he hoped she would. Kirby admits Justin swung it and Forrest says that’s another beer he owes him. Meanwhile, Leah arrives at the garage where Justin is struggling with the backlog, especially after Kirby’s visit. Leah turns the radio on and asks him to dance with her. After a bit of reluctance, Justin complies, lifting her up.
Harper asks Madden how he knew she was in town and he says he worked it out from her asking Cash for help. Harper continues to insist she doesn’t know where Dana is and would tell her to stay hidden. Madde calls that a criminal offence and Cash calls an end to things. Madden asks if he’s Harper’s lawyer and Cash says if she needs one, Madden needs to say so. Madden ends the interview but tells Cash he knows they’re both lying. Meanwhile, Bree goes to see Alf at the surf club. She confirms that Roo’s doing fine and the hospital’s just going through the process and being cautious. Alf still worries about how she’s feeling.
Harper and Cash rejoin Dana at the beach house. Cash gets a call from the restaurant confirming they have CCTV footage and says he’ll go down and get it. Harper puts her phone on charge. Later, Cash has just got changed into his uniform at home when Harper turns up and says she wants to go and get the footage instead of him. Cash says they’ll only give it to him as a police officer. Harper worries he’s going to get into trouble but Cash says he can’t stand by and let police corruption happen.
Dana looks at Olly’s statement again, then gets Harper’s phone and calls his number, saying she knows he lied about her and there’s CCTV to prove she was having lunch with her sister.
