Cash wants to protect his sister. Alf’s great mood rings alarm bells. Xander avoids Kirby.

Extended Summary

Cash is on the phone to Felicity as Leah serves him at the coffee cart, saying he saw he had a missed call from her but didn’t listen to her voice message. John and Marilyn approach, with John still insisting Alf can’t hear. Leah agrees that his behaviour after the meeting was odd but suggests he’s simply happy about Roo improving.

Cash arrives home where Felicity asks him if he ever saw the footage of her attack. Cash says he hasn’t. Felicity wants to watch it, saying the restorative justice idea has made her realise she has questions about what happened. Cash is dead against the idea, having seen the footage of some of the other women, and refuses.

Mackenzie is bemused to arrive at Salt and find Xander stocking up, since he isn’t rostered on. He says he needed something to do. Mackenzie says the place is her life and she dreams about it, and even she had to drag herself in there after her late night. Xander offers for her to take the morning off. Later, Mackenzie brings him a coffee having got herself a triple shot. She asks him about Rose meeting her father. Xander says he hopes she’ll feel able to talk to him about it one day but for now she’s got Mali. Mackenzie guesses that he’s there to give them space and Xander quickly jumps at the explanation.

John tells Leah to watch as he approaches Alf at the Diner. Alf is initially as abrupt as usual, but when John says he was surprised that Alf passed his idea without debate or criticism, Alf says it was a very productive meeting, before heading to the bait shop. Leah agrees that was weird. Later, Leah, Marilyn and John are discussing it at the coffee cart. Marilyn doesn’t want to tell Alf his hearing aid isn’t working and John says it’d been nice not to have Alf having a go at him. Leah says she’ll talk to Alf when he comes in for lunch. John agrees and says he’s getting out of the firing line.

Felicity asks Cash to let her see a report on the videos or to tell her what he saw with the other women. Cash says that would be an invasion of their privacy, which causes her to pull up short. Cash encourages her to use the restorative justice but Felicity says she feels sick at the idea of being in the room with him. Cash refuses to show her the footage, saying she could be traumatised. Felicity replies that she’s already traumatised. Later, Felicity prepares to exit the house, saying she’s going to go to the police station and ask someone else to show her the footage. Realising she’s not going to back down, Cash says he’ll take her.

At the Diner, Marilyn gives Alf his sandwich, then gives the floor to Leah. She stands behind him and asks if he wants a top-up and is baffled when he hears her. Sitting with him, she asks about the meeting, saying he usually comes back from them annoyed with John. Alf says the committee can waste their time all they want on team-bonding if John arranges it and cheerily says that it was a perfect meeting.

Mackenzie has begun to get suspicious of Xander, saying Rose and Mali could always go to her place to talk. Xander tells her about Kirby swapping rooms with Bree. He says Bree is quiet and organised and hardly ever there, whereas Kirby has taken over the whole flat, having her keyboard there and working on songs all the time. He admits he thought it was easier to avoid her than to confront her.

Leah and Marilyn comment on Alf’s odd behaviour, prompting him to call over that he can hear people talking behind his back now. They join him and he explains that now he can turn his hearing aids off and John doesn’t sound so bad on mute. Later, John comes in and Leah and Marilyn tell him there’s nothing wrong with Alf’s hearing and he must have just liked John’s idea. John goes over to Alf and says he wants to talk about the budget for the team-building. As he talks, Alf uses an app on his phone to turn his hearing aid right down, to Leah and Marilyn’s amusement.

Cash sets Felicity up with a laptop in a room at the police station. He suggests waiting for Tane but Felicity says then she’d just have to worry about him. Cash says she just needs to press the button to start and he’ll be outside. After he’s gone, Felicity’s hand hovers over the button. Later, she closes the laptop. Cash comes back in and she tells him she couldn’t watch it, saying Jeremy drugged her so she couldn’t fight back and she hates him.

Xander checks on a couple dining at Salt. Mackenzie calls him over, saying the couple are on a date and don’t need him interrupting. She tells him to go but also says he can hang out at hers to avoid Kirby. Meanwhile, Cash and Felicity walk by the beach. Felicity now wants to go for the restorative justice. Cash isn’t as keen now she’s told him how she feels about it but she says she wants to look him in the eye and tell him he didn’t win.

Felicity goes into Salt and Mackenzie immediately realises she’s made a decision. Felicity tells her about going to watch the footage and not being able to go through with it, saying she’s agreed to the meeting. She then gets a text from Cash wanting to speak with her. She finds him outside and he says he’s organised everything with the facilitator and can go with her if she likes. He says it’s set for tomorrow but she can change her mind. Felicity says she won’t.
