Ziggy chases her dreams. Justin cautions Leah against her overbearing Aunt act. How far will Theo go to keep Kirby a secret?

Extended Summary

Dean arrives at Salt. Mackenzie asks about the trip and whether Ziggy’s feeling better about things. Dean admits he doesn’t think so. Meanwhile, Ziggy is working at the garage when Remi, Theo and Kirby turn up and show off the van to her. They also reveal they’ve been booked for three more shows with Grassweeds and that Eden has stayed in the city to see friends. Theo asks if Justin’s there and Ziggy assures him Justin’s been following them. Theo gets a text from Justin and decides he needs to check in at home. After they’ve gone, Ziggy looks at the surfing leaflet.

Leah continues to try and get Justin’s opinion on inviting Lyrik over. Justin thinks it should be up to Theo. Theo arrives, talking about how big the gig was compared to Salt and how the other band gave him tips, thanking Justin and Leah for their support. He grabs some leftovers from the fridge, since he didn’t get to eat in the city, and is happy to eat it cold. Leah asks him about the band, saying she’s never got a chance to talk to them when they’re there. She notes Remi seems fun and Eden seems confident but she doesn’t really know much about Kirby. Theo tries to avoid the conversation.

At Salt, Dean tells Mackenzie that he thinks Ziggy’s just convinced herself she’s fine with not doing surfing comps. Remi and Kirby arrive; Eden had already messaged Mackenzie to check it’s fine for her to stay in the city. They say the gig was a success but they appreciate the bread-and-butter of their Salt gig. Kirby drags Remi away from flirting with Mackenzie. Mackenzie notes success seems to make them happy. Dean thinks she’s dropping hints about Ziggy. Mackenzie says she wasn’t but it’s a good point.

Theo wolfs down his meal and says he’s meeting Kirby and Remi at Salt. Leah suggests inviting the band over for dinner, wanting them to feel supported. Theo tries to put her off the idea and Justin suggests Leah go for a walk with him, letting Theo rush off. Leah isn’t sure whether they said yes or no. Theo meets Remi and Kirby and Remi goes to buy another round. Theo tells Kirby that he misses spending time alone with her and puts a hand on her leg but she removes it, telling him not to blow things. At the bar, Mackenzie advises Dean to encourage Ziggy to pursue her dream but he doesn’t seem convinced. Remi asks if he’s all right, then quickly leaves when he gets death glared.

Ziggy goes for a surf down on the beach, looking like she’s in her element. Dean watches her. When she comes back, she says Dean should have joined her but he says he was happy watching. Ziggy says it was exactly what she needed after a day’s work at the garage. Dean suggests she’d feel like that whether she’d been at work or not.

Leah and Justin arrive at the Diner. Leah wonders what the band would want for dinner and starts grabbing stuff from the larder. Justin suggests they might not be into it and that going to their gigs might be a better way of supporting them. Leah takes the point and starts putting things back. At Salt, Remi asks Mackenzie what the deal is with Dean and Ziggy. Mackenzie responds by asking what the deal is with Kirby and Theo. Remi doesn’t think there’s anything going on, saying Kirby promised. Mackenzie thinks forbidding something makes it more attractive. Remi bets her $50 that nothing’s going on. He rejoins the pair and notices an attractive young woman, Jane, come in.

Later, Remi asks Kirby if she’s heard from Bob or has any regrets about the break-up. He then tells Theo that Jane is checking him out and convinces him to go and talk to her, with Kirby telling him to go and get her number. Theo goes over and Jane tells him she recognises him from the gig. Kirby texts him to kiss her. Theo looks at her, bewildered, but carries on chatting, prompting Remi to make a money sign to Mackenzie.

Down in the surf club, Dean points to the newspaper clipping of him and Ziggy winning the surf carnival and tells her she could do it again. Ziggy doesn’t want a life separate from him but Dean says it’s not a choice: She can go to the comps and he’ll be waiting when she comes home. He suggests they work out when the next comp is. Ziggy produces the flyer and Dean says she can still make it if she leaves first thing.

On the balcony at Salt, Theo admits to Jane that he’s seeing someone, although he doesn’t say who. Jane is grateful for his honesty and gives him her number, in case either things change or he can send her free tickets. Kirby joins him and Theo blasts her for wanting him to kiss another girl. Kirby argues she only did it so they can be together. At the bar, Remi asks Mackenzie for his winnings. She gives him $2.25, saying she’s taken the rest off his tab. Kirby joins them but Theo leaves, saying he has TAFE stuff to do.

Leah is half-asleep cuddled up to Justin under a blanket. Justin convinces her to go to bed. Theo arrives back and tells Justin about Kirby wanting him to kiss another girl. He says it felt wrong to him. Justin says that it probably is then. Next morning, Dean and Ziggy pack up her car outside the surf club, including two extra boards. She notes Justin is fine with her taking time off work because she played the living-the-dream card. She thanks Dean for giving her a push.

Theo goes round to Lyrik’s house. Kirby bounds over to greet him, saying they have the place to themselves, but Theo stops her. Theo isn’t happy that she didn’t care about him kissing someone else, saying she’s the only person he wants to kiss and to let him know if it’s just a game to her.
