Extended Summary

Bella snaps some shots of Nikau on the beach, with him posing for her as requested. She notes she has a meeting with Emmett. Although Nikau wants to go to the gym, Bella asks him to come with her as moral support or cheer squad. Later, Emmett reviews the photos for a long time before declaring them amazing. Bella says she wanted to show a muscly guy powerless in the face of nature. Nikau gets a text from Allegra saying she and Sienna are in town and goes to meet them. Emmett says he’s going to call his mate at the gallery to lock in a date for the exhibition.

Dean tells Jasmine his worry about Mackenzie leaving her phone behind. Jasmine suggests it’s a digital detox or spa day. Dean says Mackenzie was down on herself last night but Jasmine thinks this is no different to other days recently and suggests he give it time. Nearby, Nikau meets with Sienna and Allegra and wonders if he missed a message other than the text five minutes ago. Sienna tells him to check his socials and he finds that he has thousands more followers. They give him some designer sunglasses, explaining they’re free in return for him wearing them on his socials.

Marilyn asks Roo what Kieran wants as Roo worries about Martha being put back. Roo admits she didn’t ask and decides to call back. As she talks, Marilyn makes a number of attempts to alert her to the fact Alf and Martha have come back. Martha explains they were waiting for Roo to join them. Alf decides to check on the bait shop while Martha goes to get a bottle of water. Later, they meet up outside. Roo convinces Alf and Martha to go for their walk without her. She tells Marilyn that Kieran’s finished his court-ordered rehab and counselling and is talking about coming home, otherwise he might have to stay where he is until the end of his sentence.

At the Parata house, Sienna and Allegra help Nikau try on an expensive watch. Bella and Emmett arrive; Bella says she didn’t know they’d be here but Nikau is fine with them staying. He show off his new wares. Bella says she’d be worried about losing something that expensive and Allegra says that’s why she doesn’t pay for it. Sienna notes the shirt Emmett is wearing was a freebie. Bella gives Nikau a glare. Later, she tries to get him to take the “dress-up” to the beach but he insists it’s important. She suggests she and Emmett go to her place but Emmett doesn’t want to see Mackenzie or Dean. He says he’ll look over the photos tonight and talk to her in the morning, also agreeing to call his mate again.

Jasmine joins Dean at the flat. Dean confirms he hasn’t heard from Mackenzie and she hasn’t come home. Jasmine suggests doing a ring-round. Dean is reluctant to call Mackenzie’s mum Tanya, since he’s the son of the woman her husband had an affair with. Jasmine agrees to do it. Bella comes in and says she hasn’t seen Mackenzie since the party but isn’t worried. Jasmine says Tanya hasn’t heard from Mackenzie in two weeks but didn’t seem worried either. Back at the Parata house, Sienna takes snaps of Nikau in a hat but notices he’s lost his spark. Nikau explains he wants to talk to Bella. Sienna and Allegra advise him not to bother with relationships: People outside the industry don’t understand and the ones inside are usually crazy. Nikau insists that he and Bella are solid.

Bella complains to Dean about Sienna controlling Nikau, although she doesn’t have a problem with Allegra. Nikau turns up asking to talk and Dean gives them space. Nikau says he was talking with Sienna about the future and can’t believe he and Bella had a fight. He says he wants to make something of the modelling and Bella says she didn’t mean to sound stuck-up. They hug. Next morning, Dean runs into Jasmine outside the surf club and says Mackenzie didn’t come home last night. Jasmine says if he’s worried he should go to the police since it’s been 24 hours, and adds that she’ll check at the hospital to see if Mackenzie’s there. Nearby, Emmett is meeting with Bella and gets a call from his mate at the gallery. He tells Bella the exhibition’s in a month.

Dean goes to the police station and is greeted by Murray, who says he hasn’t seen him in a while. Dean explains about Mackenzie being missing and Murray says he’ll file a missing persons report. Dean admits he was hoping Murray would tell him he was being an idiot. Outside the Diner, Alf and Martha are about to set up on the pier for Martha’s art but Marilyn takes Martha inside for a feed. Roo approaches Alf and rambles about how he’s seen people get second chances, before explaining she got a call from Kieran’s lawyer. Alf cuts her off immediately and walks away.

Nikau has asked Sienna to meet him and says he’s been thinking about what she said about relationships being hard. Sienna wonders if he’s broken up with Bella but Nikau says he wants to help her and asks if he can advertise the exhibition on his social media, since he’ll be in a lot of the photos. Sienna says she’ll think about it. At Salt, Emmett and Bella look over their shots and Emmett notes he’s proud of her taking his advice on board. Sienna arrives and notes she thought Bella would only be good for getting coffees but she has talent. However, they can’t use the photos of Nikau: He’s signed with the agency and they’d have to pay his fee.
