Extended Summary

Bella and Nikau mess about in the water before going to lie down on the beach together. Nikau notes he’s still not used to seeing her smiling and Bella notes it’s because she’s been spending her time at his rather than in the mess that’s her home. Nikau comments on them not going much sleep and suggests they go back to his to practise “not sleeping”. Bella reminds him he has to help Alf with a delivery, while she has to go home to get stuff for TAFE. She hopefully suggests things might be sorted now. At the Diner flat, Taylor comments to Colby that it seemed like Dean was about to spill the beans to Angelo last night. Colby admits that not only does Dean know about them but so do Willow and Bella, but assures her none of them will say anything. Bella comes through and doesn’t look happy to see Taylor there. Taylor hastily leaves.

In the Diner, Leah fills Irene, Marilyn and Roo in on the fact Justin’s making good progress. She notes that she’s lucky to have another chance at love at her age. The others think she’s rambling and needs to go home and sleep, restricting her to decaf coffee. Outside, Alf thanks Nikau for coming in for just half an hour’s work, saying he’d have asked Ryder but he’s off surfing with Owen. Roo appears in time to overhear this and Alf comments on her dinner with Owen. Roo says she hasn’t seen him since and says it’s because she’s busy and has a lot of essays to mark. Alf asks why she’s there then.

Bella emerges from her room with her bag. She reminds Colby of who Taylor’s married to and asks if she and Dean just have to get used to him bringing her back there. Colby fills her in on the fact that Willow took Dean away, that he and Ziggy broke up and that Ziggy knows what happened to Ross. Bella blames Colby for all the risks he’s taking. Colby insists he’s protecting the family but Bella says he’s the one tearing them apart. Nikau sees Bella emerge from the flat and sit on the steps, looking upset. Alf looks between them and tells Nikau he can go see her. Bella tells Nikau she doesn’t know who Colby is anymore.

Taylor is going back to her car and checks Angelo’s contact details. Moments later, she gets a call from Colby. She tells him they have to end things before Angelo finds out. Colby says he’s never felt this way about anyone and asks if she really wants to give up what they have. Meanwhile, Bella has gone with Nikau back to his place and tells him that Colby’s having an affair with Angelo’s wife in order to get information. Nikau is as aghast as she is.

Colby is walking near the surf club and sees Taylor up on the balcony of Salt. A moment later, Angelo joins her, wondering why she called. Taylor says she just wanted to see him. Angelo says they saw each other at dinner and breakfast but Taylor says she wanted him to focus on her, not on his phone. Angelo says she’s important to him but he can’t drop everything in the middle of a case. He promises to spend time with her once it’s over, kisses her on the cheek and leaves. Taylor also leaves without looking back at Colby. Meanwhile, Alf and Marilyn find Roo sat outside the caravan park house, staring into space instead of marking essays. She says she’s been thinking about Leah and how it’s easier to find love at her age than when you’re old. Both Alf and Marilyn suspect she’s thinking of someone in particular. Alf leaves Marilyn to handle it.

Colby is about to leave the flat when Nikau turns up. He says that Bella’s at his place upset and claims not to know what it’s about but says Colby has to stop pushing his luck. Colby warns Nikau that it isn’t a good time to push him. Nikau leaves and heads back to his with a takeaway for Bella, making no mention of seeing Colby. He is disturbed when Bella wants to go and see him herself. Bella thinks Colby’s behaviour is down to Ross and reminds Nikau that he was the one that said you don’t give up on family.

At the Diner, Irene gives Leah a takeaway for Justin. Marilyn comments on where Leah would be if she hadn’t taken a chance with Justin. Roo tells her she’s made her point, which leaves Leah and Irene confused. Leah goes to the hospital and is surprised to find Justin sitting up in bed and drinking water. Justin says the nurse said he could and he’s going for a walk later: He’s had no symptoms. Leah hugs him in relief.

Bella asks Alf if he knows where Colby is. Alf says he left the flat half an hour ago and wasn’t in uniform. As Bella is leaving, she bumps into Angelo, who asks how she is after their chat. He suggests he’s getting warmer with finding the killer and she can call him if she remembers anything. He also wonders if she knows about Colby and Dean’s argument. Nearby, Taylor gets in a car with Colby. She says she loves Angelo but doesn’t want to give up seeing Colby. They kiss, unaware Bella can see them.

Roo and Marilyn are walking through the caravan park. Roo asks Marilyn not to drop so many hints about Owen. Marilyn suggests she go to his van to see him. Roo tries to but gets no answer so calls him and arranges to meet. Meanwhile, Bella finds Nikau at the surf club. She tells him about running into Angelo and Colby kissing Taylor just round the corner, saying she can’t be around him. Nikau tells her to come back to his. Bella says she can’t stay there forever but Nikau thinks she can and asks her to move in with him.
