Extended Summary

Irene and Jasmine are walking through a park area. Irene checks how Jasmine’s feeling about her first counselling session and Jasmine admits she’s a bit anxious. They run into Tori with Grace, who also wishes Jasmine luck. Jasmine is hopeful she’ll be fine after a few sessions. Irene and Jasmine go to the Diner and Irene offers to go with Jasmine, even though she’d have to stay in the waiting room. Jasmine wonders if Irene wants to make sure she goes. Irene insists that’s not it. Alf and Roo come in looking for Marilyn. Irene says she’s not working today.

Leah and Marilyn are at Salt, where Marilyn ignores Alf’s call. Leah points out Marilyn used to love living with him. Marilyn says it’s different now: Martha and Ryder live there and it’s a family home, not a shared one. She says Leah moved out to give them space but Leah says that’s because she wanted to live with Justin. Marilyn thinks she should be able to stand on her own two feet. Leah tries to convince her it’s okay to need help. Downstairs, Tori leaves Grace with Justin while she goes to do yoga at the gym. Leah and Marilyn come down and Marilyn quickly checks on Grace before going out. Leah admits the talk didn’t go so well and skips out on her plans with Justin, who tells Grace it’s just them.

Alf and Roo are outside the Diner when they encounter Marilyn coming the other way. She claims she is busy and has to get to work but they tell her that they know she wasn’t rostered on yesterday and isn’t working today. Roo tries to get her to talk but Marilyn says there’s nothing to talk about and hurries away. Alf gets a call from Leah. Soon after, Alf, Leah and Roo are all meeting at the caravan park house. Roo suggests a party might make Marilyn feel welcome and Alf sarcastically suggests they put up balloons and invite Palmer, also being unimpressed with the idea of a nice dinner, since that would require Marilyn to actually be there. He walks out.

Jasmine is in a session with the counsellor, Peta, who notes she came for counselling eighteen months ago for panic attacks. Jasmine says she’s there because she needs to see her stepdaughter, Grace, awkwardly explaining about Tori thinking she was too attached and the AVO. Peta asks if she thinks the attachment is unhealthy. Jasmine says Grace is her last link to Robbo. Peta asks her about Robbo. Jasmine says he was a good man and relates how the two of them looked after Grace for the first two months. She admits that Tori is a good mum with a support network and it doesn’t make sense that she’s critical, but then a lot of things about her don’t make sense. Peta brings up her abandonment issues, saying she was already fragile before her trauma.

Alf finds Marilyn at the end of the pier and says she can’t get away now, unless she swims. He tells her he and Roo spoke to Leah and asks if she really wanted to stay at the motel. Marilyn admits she didn’t but doesn’t feel like she belongs with them. Alf insists that she’s family and is like a daughter to him. He takes Marilyn home where she tells Roo that she’s stuck: She doesn’t want to be on her own but doesn’t want to impose. Roo enlists her to help with dinner, saying they’ll have a veggie curry and Alf has steak. Alf heads out and Marilyn tells Roo what he said about her being like a daughter. Roo says that makes them sisters.

Peta asks Jasmine how she feels about Robbo leaving her. Jasmine says it wasn’t his fault but admits she feels angry and all their plans for the future have gone. Peta asks when she last visited Robbo’s grave and she admits she’s never been. Meanwhile, Tori collects Grace from Justin at the surf club and wonders what’s happened with Jasmine, saying she’ll call Irene, which Justin isn’t in favour of. Leah arrives as Tori and Grace are leaving. Justin mentions he has a headache and didn’t tell Tori. Leah jokingly suggests he needs glasses.

Jasmine meets Irene down the beach and comments on the fact they didn’t spend much time talking about Grace and the AVO but what led to it: She realises she has a lot to go through still. Tori approaches with Grace. Jasmine decides to go for a walk and declines company. Later, Leah, Tori, Irene and Justin are all talking it over at the Diner. Justin doesn’t think one session fixes everything but the others are optimistic. Irene gets an alert on her phone and realises it’s a year to the day since Robbo and Jasmine married.

Tori finds Jasmine out on the pier. Jasmine says her head’s clear and Tori was right about her needing therapy. Tori says she and Grace are proud of her and suggests she spend the afternoon with them. Outside the bait shop, Alf is working when a car pulls up and its occupant notes some things never change: It’s Angelo. He tells Alf he’s looking for Colby and explains he’s back in the police and investigating Ross’ murder. Alf points him towards the Diner flat but looks concerned.
