Extended Summary

Ziggy is sitting on the beach, looking out to sea. Willow comes along and asks why she isn’t out there. Ziggy says she can’t get wet at the moment. Dean joins them from a surf and gives Ziggy a long enough kiss to have Willow feeling like a third wheel. Dean says he has to get going since Ben wants him to open up the board shop. Ziggy comments on the fact that her parents are in lockdown. After the others have gone, Willow gets a call from Mackenzie.

At the gym, Jasmine is insisting to Mackenzie that Tori can’t protect Grace as Willow turns up. Jasmine tells her about Grace being kidnapped and that Tori’s neglectful. She says neither the lawyer nor Colby would do anything. Willow is astonished she even spoke to them. Jasmine goes into the office and Mackenzie heads back to work. Jasmine types on the forum asking for ways to prove a mother is mistreating her baby.

At the farm house, Maggie and Ben comment on how they’ve missed being together. She suggests they go on another drive up the coast but Ben thinks he should show his face at work. Maggie notes she’d better call the Department to unquit. Ben suggests they rejoin the real world by going for a coffee at the Diner. Maggie is a bit reluctant but agrees after Ben says it’s going well.

Alf finds Ryder on the pier. Ryder says he can’t stop thinking about how much pain Evan is in. Alf says Evan went away to protect him from that and he’s being cared for and has Roo with him. He offers to take Ryder out on the boat fishing to take his mind off it. Ryder decides to see Mackenzie about shifts. Alf says to come back to him if she hasn’t got any, since Nikau has asked for time off.

At Salt, Mackenzie is on the phone trying to arrange cover for Gemma. Ryder arrives and asks about coming back to work. Mackenzie says she’s down staff and hands him an apron, also suggesting he adds a new cocktail to the drinks menu. Ryder says she’s only trying to make him feel better. Mackenzie asks if it’s working.

Leah and Justin are in the Diner when Ben and Maggie turn up to a warm greeting. Maggie says they’re taking it slow and Ben says it’s going great. Justin and Leah fill them in on Grace going missing. Ben decides to head to work and Justin goes with him. Leah tells Maggie that they were the perfect couple and doesn’t think anything’s in the way.

Jasmine looks at the responses on the forum, which include outrage and someone wondering if she has photos and videos. She seems to pick up on a suggestion to write everything down. Willow sticks her head round the door and Jasmine quickly changes to an accounting page, saying she’s been focusing on spreadsheets. After an awkward pause, she leaves to get some food. Willow looks at the laptop and finds the forum threads.

Justin and Ben approach the surf club with Justin saying it’s a beautiful thing to see him and Maggie back together and they’re soul mates. Ben admits being back together is a reminder of that. Justin suggests having dinner with him and Leah. Willow appears and asks to talk to Justin, asking about Grace before saying Jasmine was worried. Justin says Jasmine is overprotective and making accusations about Tori, who he thinks is too kind.

Jasmine arrives at the Diner and asks Leah about Grace. She wants to head over and help Tori. Leah hastily says that Tori’s taken Grace out for the day. Jasmine, without much humour, says she hopes she doesn’t leave her in the car this time. She considers calling Tori but Leah convinces her to leave it for another day.

Outside the Diner, Jasmine runs into Willow, who says she saw her posting lies about Tori on the forum. Jasmine says she needed to get her feelings out and the people on there don’t judge her. Willow says that’s because she’s lying and she needs to get her feelings out less publicly or she could hurt Justin and Tori and damage her relationship with them. Jasmine agrees.

Dean and Ziggy are in Salt. Dean cheerily greets Ryder; when he doesn’t respond, he asks him how he is. Mackenzie comes out and says she is officially out of debt with Rick. She says the car’s compensation for all the birthday and Christmas presents she won’t get and she’s glad to never have to see him again. Ryder, upset, says he’s taking his break. Mackenzie follows and finds him watching the video of Evan singing about him. She apologises for being insensitive and gives him a cuddle.

Mackenzie heads back towards the surf club where she and Willow see Jasmine sat writing nearby. They think it’s a good sign, not realising she’s starting her list with Tori putting Grace in danger and the family denying her access. Nearby, Maggie gets off the phone and tells Ben the Department have given her job to someone else. Ziggy comes over, pleased to see them, and suggests they have dinner with her and Dean at Salt tonight. Ben says Justin suggested the same. Maggie is reluctant but Ziggy asks her to spare a few hours for her.

That evening, Alf and Ryder are at the Diner, with Ryder staring at his phone. Alf points out they’ll hear if it rings and reminds him Evan isn’t on his own. Ryder isn’t sure if he’ll be able to answer when Roo calls. Alf says he’ll answer and Evan would want him to live his life. At Salt, Mackenzie gives a round to Dean, which she suspects he’ll never pay for. They go to the table where Dean, Ben, Maggie and Justin are waiting (Leah is running late). Ziggy gets up and makes a speech about how pleased she is to see them back together. Maggie says she’s feeling a bit sick and quickly leaves, with Ben following.

Later, Dean and Ziggy are on their own. Ziggy isn’t convinced Maggie had a stomach bug. They kiss as Willow walks in, with her noting that’s how she left them. Ziggy explains they’ve just had their one month anniversary and shows her the tattoo, explaining that’s why she can’t get wet. Dean goes to get Willow a beer.

Back at the farm house, Maggie apologises to Ben, saying she couldn’t pretend everything was okay and their friends think they can click their fingers and go back to how things were. Ben thinks they have to try but Maggie thinks they can’t undo what’s been done. Ben asks what she wants to do.
