Extended Summary

Ben and Justin run into each other on the beach and comment on being able to go surfing during the day. Justin asks how Ben is after his hospital visit. Ziggy appears as they’re discussing her progress and says she’s just finished her final TAFE assignment: Justin should be getting a call to say if she’s completed the course. Ziggy asks Ben about Maggie but he simply says she’s busy and hurries away. Near the surf club, Tori chases after Jasmine with Grace, protesting that it’s hard to run when pushing a stroller. Jasmine says Justin made it clear she didn’t want her around. Tori says she didn’t tell him to say that but admits Jasmine has been getting in the way of her time with Grace. She says she’s grateful for what Jasmine’s done and wants them to sit down and sort it out. After looking at Grace for a moment, Jasmine agrees.

At the Diner flat, Ziggy tells a delighted Dean about finishing her course. Dean thinks she’ll have more free time now she’s not studying but Ziggy points out she’ll be able to do more work at the garage. She feels bad about not spending time with Ben and Maggie recently. Later, at the surf club, she approaches Ben and asks what’s going on. After initially trying to put her off, Ben admits he and Maggie have decided to separate. Ziggy doesn’t think it’s what anyone wants and is bewildered that they’re still living together but with separate lives. She tells him to try harder and leaves. Dean, who has been nearby, tells Ben to give her time.

At the Diner, Irene comments on the amount of time Maggie’s spending there and Maggie says she gets more work done there. Leah arrives and apologises for being late, saying she fell out with Justin after trying to referee him and Tori. Marilyn is still worried what happened with Jasmine will come between her and Tori but Leah says Tori’s had time off work and will call Marilyn when she needs a babysitter again. Irene mentions Jasmine’s plans to leave town which Marilyn thinks isn’t good. Leah hopes Tori will talk her round. Justin arrives and asks to talk to Leah. They head out onto the pier where Justin says it won’t happen again, then admits it probably will. They acknowledge they’re both stubborn and Leah says she’s glad she can voice an opinion after what happened with Douglas. Justin says he sympathises with Jasmine but thinks her leaving town would be best for everyone. Leah invites him in for a coffee.

Tori and Jasmine have retired to Salt. Tori insists she’s not having a go but wants to know why Jasmine took Grace from Marilyn. Jasmine says Tori can trust her but Tori says you can’t base trust on dishonesty and Jasmine lied. Grace starts fussing and Jasmine suggests she’s hungry and doesn’t want to be there. Tori insists on continuing the conversation and Jasmine says she was looking out for Grace like Robbo would want. After settling Grace, Tori acknowledges that Jasmine loves Grace and Grace loves her, but says Jasmine can’t override her decisions. Jasmine repeats what she heard about Tane and Tori says she spoke to Marilyn about it and knew he wasn’t there. Jasmine still thinks it was too much of a risk and Robbo would have got Grace out of there. Tori says that ideally Robbo would be part of decisions but now it’s up to her, not Jasmine or Justin. Jasmine says she’ll always react if Grace is in danger.

Ziggy tracks Maggie down at the Diner and asks about the separation. Maggie says they didn’t want to worry her. Ziggy thinks that neither of them wants it and encourages Maggie to try and talk to Ben. Maggie says last time she pushed it Ben ended up in hospital. Ziggy thinks she’ll regret not fighting for it. The two of them head to the surf club. Maggie says she’s going to the supermarket after her workout and asks Ben if he wants anything but Ben says he’s okay. Maggie heads off to the gym. Dean tells Ziggy that Ben told him about the separation. Ziggy thinks it might have been different if she’d been there but Dean doubts it.

Back at the Morgan house, Justin points out to Tori that Jasmine said she’d do it again. Tori says at least she was honest. Justin is unimpressed and continues to think they should keep Jasmine away from Grace. Tori points out it’s up to her. Justin accepts that but thinks she’s wrong. At the Diner, Jasmine complains to Irene about not being allowed an opinion over Grace. Irene reflects on fostering children and then having them go back to their parents. Jasmine thinks it’s a sign she should move on but Irene asks if she really wants to leave all her friends behind. She says Robbo may have had rights but Jasmine doesn’t so she needs to learn to work with Tori.

Ziggy gets up in the middle of the night and gets herself a drink. Dean joins her and she explains she keeps thinking about Ben and Maggie lying awake in separate rooms thinking about each other. She tries to send him back to bed but he says he’d just be lying awake thinking about her. Next morning, Leah tells Justin that she had to raise VJ without his father and needed Vinnie’s family around. Justin agrees Grace needs to know about Robbo and declines to say more. Tori appears with Grace and Justin offers her eggs on toast. Jasmine arrives and says she respects that Tori makes the decisions and has someone else she needs to talk to.

Marilyn is arriving at the Diner when she gets a phone call from Jasmine calling her away. Ben and Maggie both arrive and tell each other to go first, which turns into an argument. Ziggy arrives and quickly gives her order to Irene, who tells them to take a seat. Ben and Maggie sit at different tables and Ziggy asks if they’re actually going to make her choose who she sits with. Back at the Morgan house, Jasmine apologises to Marilyn, saying it won’t happen again, and Tori says all decisions will come through her. Jasmine also says she’s decided not to leave. Grace starts crying and Tori sends Jasmine to get her for her bottle. Justin and Leah go to get dressed and overhear Jasmine telling Grace nothing will keep her away. Leah tries to downplay it but Justin thinks Tori is making a mistake letting Jasmine back in, saying he was right about it being a risk to have Robbo as the father and he’s right about this.

Ben and Maggie both follow Ziggy as she storms down the beach. They say they’ll try and keep away from each other but Ziggy says that’s not what she wants and tells them to either separate properly or be together. At the surf club, she regrets her words, telling Dean she’s basically given them permission to separate. Dean thinks it had to be said. Ziggy hopes it’s a wake-up call. Back on the beach, Ben and Maggie acknowledge that the situation isn’t working: One of them needs to move out.
