Extended Summary

Tori finds Jasmine near the beach looking sad and tries to talk to her but Jasmine says it’s none of her business and reminds her Grace isn’t meant to be around her. Tori points out that Jasmine took Grace without telling her but Jasmine says Tori and Justin told her to stay away so Tori can’t claim to be her friend now. Meanwhile, Roo arrives home and finds Ryder working on an assignment on silver service. She tells Ryder about running into Evan and reminds him she took a risk with Martha when she turned up and things turned out okay. Ryder accepts that but says it’s his choice. Roo gives him Evan’s number but Ryder rips it up, saying Roo and Alf are all the family he needs. He leaves for Salt.

At the Diner, while Leah serves tables, Irene gives Colby a muffin. Willow arrives and reminds him they have a physio session that afternoon but Colby says he has to cancel: He’s got his first shift back, even though it’s only desk duty. He leaves and Willow and Irene comment on how both he and Jasmine seem chirpier since their chat. At the Morgan house, Justin tells Tori that he just told Jasmine to give her some space to have one-on-one time with Grace. Tori feels bad about how Jasmine’s feeling. Justin also does a bit but reminds her Jasmine lied to Marilyn to take Grace. Tori thinks they went too far telling her to stay away. Justin thinks she can’t fix Jasmine’s problems but Tori says she has Grace and Jasmine has nothing.

Willow arrives at the gym to find Jasmine punching a bag and quickly realises it’s not exercise but working out her frustrations. Jasmine says it’s one rejection after another and she doesn’t know why she’s still there when she has no friends or family. The two of them go for a walk on the beach with Willow wondering about the fact Jasmine seemed in a better place after her chat with Colby. Jasmine explains what Colby said that morning, that he couldn’t spend time with her while he’s sorting himself out. She says Tori and Colby both rejected her, she doesn’t have Robbo or the child she thought she’d have, and she’s beginning to think she should leave the Bay.

Ryder finds Evan waiting at the bus stop. Evan notes he gave Roo his number and Ryder didn’t call so he respects his choice. Ryder notes the bus comes every hour and Evan accepts he’s just missed it. Ryder suggests they go for a coffee. They head for Salt and Evan asks Ryder how long he’s worked there. Ryder says he started working at the juice bar downstairs. Evan jokes about going up in the world, calling it a “dad joke”. He asks Ryder about his interests. After listing a few, Ryder notes he never learned an instrument, just got dragged along on Quinn’s gigs. Evan says it must have been tough with just the two of them and Ryder sarcastically asks if he’s only just thought of that. Evan says he was selfish when Ryder was born and Ryder has every right to call him out on it.

Willow goes to see Colby at the flat and asks what happened between him and Jasmine. Colby says that Willow was right: He’s been using Bella’s problems as an excuse not to deal with his own and needs space to sort it out. Willow tells him that he’s left Jasmine feeling rejected and wants him to talk to her but Colby refuses, saying he needs to sort out his own problems first. Willow heads down to the Diner and tells Irene and Leah that Jasmine is considering leaving town, having lost Robbo, Colby, Tori and Justin. Leah doesn’t think Justin wanted her to stay away forever and Irene wonders where Jasmine would go. Willow points out she has an open invite from Robbo’s parents. None of them think she’s in the right place to make decisions but Irene worries that it can be hard to change her mind.

Ryder and Evan walk away from the surf club with Evan reminiscing that the best gig he ever did was on a yacht bigger than some houses in the Whitsundays. He notes he doesn’t tour much anymore because it’s too tiring and says he never married so Ryder doesn’t have to wonder about brothers and sisters turning up. Ryder wonders why Evan looked him up now. Evan says it seemed like time plus the internet makes it easier. They shake hands and Evan heads off to his bus. Later, back at the house, Ryder chats to Roo about it, saying he’s glad they got to have a proper conversation. Evan suddenly appears and says he’s decided to stick around a few more days. Ryder agrees, but doesn’t seem too happy about it, and heads off to a wine tasting at TAFE. Evan asks Roo if there are any spare vans. Roo gives him some keys but she looks worried as well.

Willow goes to the gym and finds Jasmine in the office, making preparations to sell the place. Willow tries to tell her that Colby didn’t mean to reject her and the Grace thing isn’t permanent. She also says that she’s still there but Jasmine retorts that Willow was planning to leave town with Alex not so long ago. Willow says she’d miss Jasmine and isn’t the only one. In his flat, Colby has got dressed in his uniform. He picks up his keys and heads out.

Leah has filled in Tori and Justin on Jasmine leaving. Tori is horrified and thinks it must be because of them pushing her away. Justin however thinks that a fresh start might be good for her. At the caravan park house, Roo gives Evan some clean towels since Ryder forgot to restock. Evan thanks her for whatever she said to Ryder. Ryder reappears, wine tasting having been cancelled. Evan explains that he’s staying in a van and invites Ryder over any time. After he’s gone, Ryder makes it clear to Roo that he’s not happy about another decision being made without him, despite Roo protesting that she couldn’t turn him away.

Tori is flabbergasted that Justin thinks Jasmine should go. Justin reminds her of what Jasmine did but Leah points out she was trying to protect Grace. Justin thinks Jasmine’s having a hard time respecting boundaries but Tori doesn’t think they should push her away and reminds him Jasmine looked after Grace when she couldn’t. She hears Grace crying and decides to take her to see Jasmine. Later, Justin expresses disappointment that Leah didn’t back him up. He thinks Tori is being ruled by emotions and needs to use her head. Leah says that Tori is Grace’s mother. Justin says that he was trying to make a tough call and thinks that letting Jasmine back in would be a mistake.

Tori takes Grace to the gym where Jasmine sarcastically notes that she’s breaking Justin’s rules. The fact that Tori already knows she’s planning to leave reinforces Jasmine’s belief that she needs to go. Tori says Jasmine’s one of her best mates: She couldn’t have got through the last year without her and she’s one of the last links to Robbo. She asks Jasmine to stay for Grace.
