Extended Summary

Evan follows Ryder into the house, to Ryder’s annoyance. He gives his name as Evan Slater, which means nothing to Ryder although he’s given pause when Evan says he’s a musician from Brisbane. Evan continues that he’s a Gemini who can accurately guess the temperature and says he wants to know about Ryder. Roo arrives in time to get a brief recap from Ryder before he walks out. Roo tells Evan he should go. Meanwhile, Willow finds Jasmine down on the beach, looking a bit the worse for wear. Willow notes she thought Jasmine didn’t get hangovers and Jasmine says she’s never drunk that much before. She is mortified about what happened, despite Willow trying to reassure her, and decides to go for a walk alone.

Walking up from the beach, Jasmine encounters Colby. They make awkward small talk and Colby explains he’s starting back at work tomorrow on light duties. After a long silence, Colby tries to talk about the kiss but Jasmine hurries away. Shortly after, at the Diner flat, Willow berates Colby for talking to Jasmine. Colby says he couldn’t ignore her and it was too weird to not bring up the kiss. He wants to go look for her but Willow says she doesn’t need someone swooping in to try and save her.

Roo asks Ryder what he thinks. Ryder says he isn’t bothered if Evan’s his dad or not; he never knew anything about him other than that he was a muso who walked out on them when he was young. Roo suspects that’s why Quinn was calling but Ryder doesn’t think they were still in touch or that she’d give out his details without asking. Soon after, Roo encounters Evan outside the Diner. He introduces himself and she explains that she’s Ryder’s aunt and Quinn’s half-sister. Evan says Quinn gave him Ryder’s details; she was meant to be phoning ahead but he got there first. Roo admits Ryder messed up tracking down Alf. She isn’t keen to put pressure on Ryder but Evan asks her to help him make things up to him.

Willow arrives at the gym, leaving a phone message for Jasmine. She hears a phone bleep in the office and finds Jasmine in there having a panic attack. Willow tries to reassure her. Meanwhile, Roo arrives home and tells Ryder about her encounter with Evan. She thinks he’s genuine but Ryder thinks he’s a conman. Roo isn’t convinced that someone would want to pretend to be his father just because he’s the heir to the Stewart caravan park and bait shop (and points out that that’s her). She understands his reluctance but thinks he can’t pretend Evan isn’t there and needs to call Quinn.

Willow gets Jasmine some water. Jasmine feels that she betrayed Robbo and used Colby and that he wants nothing to do with her. Willow insists that Colby wanted to come and find her. Jasmine remembers it happened before in the night club and thinks she took advantage of Colby when he was in a bad head space. Willow tries to convince her otherwise and advises her to talk to Colby. Jasmine goes round to the flat and apologises to a rather bewildered Colby.

Roo finds Ryder ending a phone call. He says that Quinn confirmed that Evan is his father and she gave him the details, and is annoyed that they took the decision away from him, Roo says she knows what it’s like to be abandoned by a parent and to stuff up with your kid but Ryder says he’s managed nineteen years without Evan and doesn’t want anything from him now. Meanwhile, Colby brings Jasmine a glass of water and tells her that he feels he’s the one who betrayed Robbo and should have showed self control. He reflects that Robbo is probably rolling his eyes at how useless they are without him. Down in the Diner, Irene and Willow reflect on how long Jasmine’s been upstairs and how much she’s come to rely on Colby. Jasmine appears and says it looks like she and Colby can be friends again. The others assure her no-one will turn their back on her.

Next morning, Roo encounters Evan outside the surf club and tells him how Ryder feels. Evan wonders if he should call Quinn and Roo explains Ryder isn’t too happy with her either. Evan isn’t keen on leaving without sorting things but Roo isn’t convinced it’s going to happen. At the Diner flat, Willow tries to get Colby not to take what she and Dean said to heart but Colby says he’s been making a lot of wrong decisions and messed up with Jasmine, deciding he needs to put things right.

Evan goes round to the Stewart house and tells Ryder that he looked for him when he was two but he thinks Quinn didn’t want to be found. Ryder asks if this is a self-help thing where he needs forgiveness. Evan notes he used sarcasm for self-defence as well and it worked until he was thirty. He invites Ryder to yell at him or punch him anywhere but the face. Later, he meets up with Roo again and tells her about his meeting with Ryder. He gives her his number so at least Ryder’s got it. Roo tells him her mother walked out on her when she was young and advises him to give Ryder time.

Colby meets Jasmine on the pier and tells her it’s not her fault but he needs some space: He let her and Robbo down and isn’t good for her. Jasmine protests that they can still be friends but Colby says she doesn’t need him in her life. Although he insists it’s not her fault, Jasmine doesn’t look convinced as he walks away.
