Extended Summary

Justin ambushes Mason with a coffee outside the Diner, having waited for his shift to end. He wants to get to the city and sort out the paperwork for Tori’s move. Mason says they can’t rush it although Justin is worried about losing the bed. Mason says he’ll talk to the doctors once he’s had the coffee. Meanwhile, Robbo is sitting by the beach with Grace. Jasmine joins them; Robbo says he’d have picked her up from the bus stop if she’d said she was coming, but Jasmine says she wanted the walk. She’s finished going over things in the city and is anticipating the move to the farm. Robbo tells her about the plan to move Tori. Jasmine looks thrown but says they should get Grace home.

At the Stewart house, Martha is admiring a painting that she brought back from the city, which Alf hoped she’d leave at the hotel. She considers hanging it by the door or in the bedroom. She notes she thought Alf enjoyed the art gallery and Alf says he enjoyed that she enjoyed it. Ryder comes through; Alf drily remarks it’s obvious where he was last night and Ryder retorts he doesn’t have to worry about that anymore. Martha observes Alf wasn’t so different, recalling her father threatening to kick him into the next paddock after catching him climbing out of her window. Alf suddenly remembers a delivery at the bait shop. In the Diner flat, Robbo asks Jasmine her opinion on the move. Jasmine wonders if Tori’s city team have agreed to it. Robbo doesn’t know but says Justin’s pinning everything on it. Jasmine says there are risks in moving her.

Ryder comes back downstairs and Martha asks what happened to his goofy smile. Ryder says Jade kicked him out. He ponders what happens in a relationship when one person does something wrong and can’t see that it is wrong. Martha says having the same values is important but a relationship between people who are different can work too. She asks if Jade could have a deeper reason for doing whatever she did. Ryder says asking that got him kicked out. Martha suggests asking again. Ryder says she’s smarter than Alf. He tracks down Jade and tries to ask her about the stealing but Jade refuses to talk to him, calling him super lame and saying she brought some excitement into his life.

Leah and Alf watch Justin, who is on the beach near the Diner, on edge. Leah approaches him and suggests he wait inside for Mason. Robbo then appears and tries to question Justin about moving Tori. Justin says he’s kept Robbo updated because he’s Grace’s father but he doesn’t get a say. Things get more aggressive between them as Justin accuses Robbo of taking Grace away to be a family without Tori and Robbo tells Justin he doesn’t think he’s in the right headspace to be making the decisions. They start shoving each other until Alf and Leah step in. Alf sends Robbo away, although before he goes he tells Justin to make sure he’s doing it for the right reason. Meanwhile, Jade finds Ryder waiting outside the shower block for her. He tells her that she’s a good person and doesn’t think she’d steal unless something was wrong. Jade says it’s just her mum and her little sister Avalon back home since her father left: Her mum lost her job and Avalon’s the only one in the class without a laptop, and she’s been sending her wages home. Ryder tells her to forget the $50 and he’ll get Alf to give her a rent extension. Jade calls him the sweetest guy and suggests they go back to how things were before.

Robbo has rejoined Jasmine in the flat. He says Justin wouldn’t give him a straight answer and made it clear he’s just Grace’s father. Jasmine checks he didn’t lose it and isn’t entirely reassured by him saying he didn’t knock Justin out. She offers to talk to Justin or Mason but Robbo thinks it’s pointless because Justin’s made up his mind. Downstairs, Justin asks Leah if he’s doing the right thing. Leah says the doctors and Mason wouldn’t let it happen if it wasn’t and he’s doing his best for Tori. She checks in with Irene and Marilyn, before Mason comes in and she explains Justin’s having doubts. Mason tells Justin that there’s always risks but the doctors are behind them.

Shortly after, Leah says goodbye to Justin and Mason outside the Diner. Robbo comes out as they’re doing so. Justin sees him and they lock eyes but neither says anything. Justin and Mason leave. Leah also looks at Robbo. Later, she is waiting for him when he comes back from a run, noting he was pushing himself. He guesses Justin and Mason have gone to the city and that Justin ignored what he said. Leah says Justin did think about it but is doing what he thinks is best. Robbo says that he cares about Tori aside from her being Grace’s mother. Leah accepts it.

Martha joins Alf at the bait shop. She has decided to hang the painting in their bedroom and is surprised when Alf agrees without an argument. She wonders if their chat earlier has left him feeling nostalgic. Alf doesn’t think he could climb out of a bedroom window now but does agree to lunch. At Salt, Jade is serving a customer. Ryder is on the phone to Alf about the rent extension, offering to pay her rent himself. He tells Jade Alf has agreed and she says she’ll give him a special thank you later. She takes the pay from the customer and pockets the money.

At the Diner, Marilyn and Irene ask Leah about visiting Tori and Leah says that’s part of the reason she’s being moved. Jasmine comes in and gets an update. She admits she doesn’t know the medical details but says there’s no guarantees. Leah admits that Justin knows that but won’t face it. At the city hospital, Justin and Mason look on as a collection of doctors, nurses and paramedics prepare Tori for transport, saying they’ll see her in a few hours.

At the Diner flat, Robbo frets that they haven’t heard anything. Jasmine assures him Tori will be carefully monitored. Robbo asks if she now thinks it’s a good idea. Jasmine says it wouldn’t have been her choice but they have to hope it goes well. She gives him Grace to cuddle to cheer him up. Robbo notes she’s smiled and Jasmine takes a picture. At Northern Districts, Justin and Mason watch Tori being brought in. Justin worries that Alex isn’t there to examine her. Mason checks with the doctor who accompanied Tori and assures Justin she was stable all the way and they’ll wean her off the ventilator if she’s still stable in the morning. Justin tells Tori tomorrow she’ll start breathing on her own.
