Extended Summary

Ryder emerges from the caravan followed by a dressing-gown clad Jade: He tells her to wait there and he’ll get coffees. Alf is only a few yards away raking leaves. Ryder approaches him and tries to get him to ask where he was last night but Alf says that that’s obvious and he doesn’t want any details. He then texts Martha to confirm Ryder was with Jade. Up at the house, Roo is about to go out to look for Ryder. Martha intercepts her and reminds her that she said she could sketch her at one point, claiming, not too convincingly, that the timing is coincidental.

Wendy is looking after Grace as Ian and Jasmine come back with pastries. Robbo emerges and confirms that, while they’re not doing it straightaway, he has agreed to move to the farm. Jasmine wonders when, since she’ll have to give notice. Robbo says they need to stick around for Des and Victor’s trial. Ian says they can discuss it later. Outside, a cheery Ryder passes Leah and Marilyn. Leah comments on not hearing from Justin; he might be travelling but she hoped he’d call before he left. Marilyn suggests he might be on his way back with good news. She also reveals Robbo’s parents are in town.

Jasmine is checking her phone on the flat balcony when Robbo joins her. She explains that she’s been looking for jobs near the farm and found something, but she’ll need to know when they’re going to give notice. Robbo suggests in four or five weeks. Jasmine notes she’ll miss Summer Bay but people can visit them and she has a chance of having a family. Downstairs, Ryder asks Marilyn for two coffees and two egg and bacon rolls, confirming the extra are for Jade. Leah notes she still hasn’t heard from Justin. Ryder says he just saw him on the beach.

Leah finds Justin sat on the beach. He notes that he was going to call her before they left but just wanted to get home. Cuddling up to him, she asks him what the doctors said. His expression suggests he doesn’t want to answer. Later, as they walk, he explains the doctors said they can’t do anything more for Tori so want to move her out of ICU. They want to move her to a specialist brain injury unit, which Mason seemed to be in favour of. Justin says it feels like everyone’s given up hope.

Roo storms through the caravan park, ignoring Martha’s attempts to get her to go back to the house. Ryder joins Jade outside her caravan with a coffee. Roo comes over, asking why Ryder stayed out without telling anyone. Jade goes into the van and Ryder says that if he doesn’t come home after a date that means it went well. Roo says they worry and doesn’t want him to get into trouble. Ryder retorts that she got pregnant at sixteen whereas he and Jade are using precautions. Up at the house, Alf, Roo and Martha arrive back. Roo sees it as evidence that Jade is a bad influence on Ryder, since he’s never spoken to her like that before. Alf points out he gave her similar lectures and she didn’t listen, but Roo continues to be worried about Ryder going down that path.

Robbo, Jasmine, Ian and Wendy are all on the Diner balcony. Wendy tries to get them to choose the colours for redecorating, eventually settling on off-white, and also tries to get them to come straight after the trial rather than wait four weeks. Robbo suggests selling the gym but Jasmine points out it runs okay without him so he just needs the right manager. He also needs to give Colby time to find a new flatmate. Downstairs, Leah brings Justin to the Diner and gives Marilyn an update. Justin ignores a text from Mason wanting to talk about Tori; they didn’t say much during the journey but he thinks Mason agrees with the doctors. He has no idea what Tori would want and ends up walking out.

Ryder and Jade discuss going for a swim or playing pool. Alf appears and asks to talk to Ryder. He says he’s not giving him a lecture because he can make his own decisions but points out that he should apologise for worrying Roo. Ryder goes up to the house and assures Roo he’s just there to talk; they exchange apologies. Roo still isn’t sure about Jade but Ryder refers to her as his girlfriend, even though they haven’t discussed that yet. Roo again tries to suggest she come over for dinner but Ryder refuses.

Leah and Justin are walking near the beach when Robbo and Jasmine accompany Ian and Wendy out to their car. Robbo introduces the two groups to each other and Wendy says she’s sorry about Tori. Justin replies that she’s not dead. Wendy babbles that they’re welcome at the farm any time. Robbo ushers Justin away, saying they’ll talk later, and explains to Wendy that he doesn’t know. After saying goodbye to Ian and Wendy, Robbo admits to Jasmine he doesn’t know how he’ll tell Justin. Back at the caravan park house, Alf and Martha tell Roo they’re going to the city for a few days: Martha wants to see an art exhibition and there’s a boat show on at the same time. Although she still doesn’t trust Jade, Roo agrees to stay out of the relationship.

Justin gives Robbo an update on Tori, before Robbo tells him about the plan to move to the farm. Justin accuses him of pretending Tori doesn’t exist and giving up on her like everyone else, telling him to go to hell. Near the surf club, John is on the phone saying he’s still working. Justin comes along and gets into his car. John tries to talk to him but Justin ignores him and drives off.
