Extended Summary

Robbo and Jasmine are walking with Grace near the beach. Grace is restless; Jasmine suggests she might be hungry but Robbo thinks she’s just tired. He says Lance has been on the phone asking if Jasmine will testify against Des over the kidnapping. Jasmine is happy to. They run into Irene, who notes Grace seems better. Jasmine asks about Bella and Irene explains about her staying at hers and the immunisations. Robbo looks suddenly worried and says he’ll take Grace home. Back at the flat, Robbo is now worried Grace won’t settle and thinks she’s caught something off Bella. Despite Jasmine disagreeing and pointing out she’s a trained paediatric nurse, he insists on taking her to a doctor.

At the farm house, Ben and Maggie apologise to Ziggy for blowing the secret with Dean. Ziggy admits she and Dean haven’t really talked about it and is unhappy with his reaction. Ben and Maggie speak up for him, suggesting she talk to him. Ziggy goes to the caravan park and knocks on Dean’s door. She says she’s sorry and he acknowledges he overreacted. Ziggy admits she put off telling him because she wanted to avoid an awkward conversation. Dean suggests they talk now; Ziggy is due at work but hasn’t had breakfast yet.

Irene, John and Marilyn are at the Diner with John making a speech about the value of the blueberry muffin. Alf comes in and John and Marilyn quiz him about Martha. He says she’s gone home to pack her stuff and will be back tomorrow. Against his advice, they start making plans for a party to welcome her to Summer Bay. Alf orders a tea from Irene, who suggests he leave them to it. At Salt, Ziggy explains to Dean that she applied for the position after she broke up with Brody and forgot about it. She notes it’s a week’s trial but if she’s accepted she’ll be expected to sign a year’s contract. Dean is initially non-committal but Ziggy says he can say if he doesn’t want her to go. Dean does, so Ziggy says that’s settled. Dean looks less sure.

Robbo and Jasmine arrive back at the flat with Jasmine teasing Robbo about the wealth of experience she had to get it right. She assures him it’s normal for parents to get worried but also wonders if he’s preoccupied about testifying. Robbo says he’s done it before but Jasmine says this is with his family’s murderer. Robbo says he arrested Victor because he wanted him to face justice. Down in the Diner, John and Marilyn are debating getting balloons. Irene puts a stop to it but they feel they still need a banner. Irene gives Jasmine a takeaway and Jasmine agrees to call downstairs if they need help. John accosts Ben and tries to rope him into the party planning. Ben gets out of it by pointing out he’s there to have lunch with Maggie.

Jasmine goes back to the flat with the takeaway but finds Robbo and Grace asleep. Later, when Grace stirs, Jasmine picks her up and decides to take her outside, leaving a note on the counter. Down in the Diner, Ziggy approaches Ben and Maggie and tells them she’s decided not to take the trial after her chat with Dean. Ben and Maggie are shocked and, after she’s gone, decide they need to do something.

Dean has just finished a surf class on the beach. Maggie comes over and he jokes about her being a client. She tells him he needs to talk to Ziggy. Dean considers the matter closed, saying he’s not standing in her way, but Maggie says he’s not supporting her. She says that cars are Ziggy’s passion: If she’s denied this, she’ll regret it and possibly resent Dean. At the garage, Ben learns Ziggy hasn’t turned down the trial yet although she still intends to. He reminds her of when she took his car apart to see how it worked. Dean has arrived to hear most of it, saying he was meeting Ziggy for lunch. After Ben has gone, Dean tells Ziggy to take the trial, saying they can manage a week apart.

Jasmine is sitting with Grace outside the Diner. Irene joins her and Jasmine explains about Robbo being asleep. Irene notes Grace has thrown up on her and Jasmine casually wipes it off, pointing out again that she’s a nurse. She seems to be settled in the role. At the farm house, Ben and Maggie arrive home. Ziggy tells them of the change of plan: There are only three other candidates, so she’s in with a chance, but she has to leave today because they’re meeting first thing tomorrow, and Justin has agreed to cover her shifts. Before being dragged away to help her pack, Maggie notes talking to Dean worked.

Dean is unloading a ute outside the surf club. John stops to remind him not to clog up the path. Ziggy drives up and tells Dean she’s on her way, reiterating that she’ll be back in a week. She kisses him, saying it’ll have to last him until then. Later, Ben finds Dean at his caravan. Dean offers Ben a beer while Ben tries to invite Dean to dinner, saying it’s not pity but because they like his company. Dean thinks there’s no chance of Ziggy coming back. Ben understands feeling you’re punching above your weight, pointing to him and Maggie, but insists Ziggy loves Dean. Dean goes into his van.

Robbo has a dream in which he remembers Victor taunting him over his family’s death. He wakes up and finds Grace’s cot empty. After calling out to Jasmine, he rushes out. He finds Jasmine sitting with Grace on a bench but takes Grace away, saying they shouldn’t have gone out without him.
