Extended Summary

Robbo is being driven in a police car with siren blaring. He is on the phone to Lance, saying he’s tried to call the safe house but is having trouble getting a signal. Back in the Bay, Justin rejoins Leah on the beach after a surf and she notes she was too busy reading to watch what she was doing. She offers to put sun lotion on his back and suggests they go back to his, since Alf’s away and Roo and Ryder are busy with exams. Justin’s phone rings; he wants to ignore it, but Leah says it might be about Mason or Ava. In fact, it’s Robbo, who tells Justin that Tori’s in labour and that the investigation’s over and they’re safe, but the call cuts out before he can say anything else. Justin tells Leah.

Maggie joins Ryder in the office, throwing the undrunk water bottle into a bin. She asks him why he did it and he says it was just a joke to relieve the tension. Maggie says he distracted the other students. She suggests calling Alf or Roo but Ryder says he’s eighteen and can take care of himself. Maggie says he’ll be reported to the examination board. Ryder exits and runs into Blake in the corridor. Blake is annoyed with him, but relaxes and thanks him when Ryder says he didn’t drop him in it and would incriminate himself if he did. They walk through a park area together; Blake acknowledges he would have been in trouble if he had drugged Maggie, but also that he’s probably failed the exam and isn’t looking forward to telling his dad. John runs into them and they admit they didn’t do well.

Leah and Justin come into the Diner and tell Marilyn about Tori being in labour and that they’ll be home soon because the investigation’s over. Justin worries about Tori having to give birth out there but the others assure him that Robbo will get her the best doctor and Jasmine’s there. At the safe house, Tori complains to Jasmine and Mike that she doesn’t want to give birth without Robbo but Mike doesn’t think she has an option. Robbo’s car pulls up outside and he races in, leaving his gun with Scott, and takes his place at Tori’s side.

Maggie has called Ryder back into school. She’s heard back from the examination board and it’s been decided Ryder won’t be allowed to sit his one remaining exam, meaning he won’t be able to pass. Ryder protests but Maggie says he disrupted an HSC exam and she’s already had calls from parents. She gives him until 10am the next day to give her a better reason for his actions. Ryder finds Blake on the wharf and is shocked to see he has a bruised face. He says his dad hit him when he told him he’d failed the exam and has done it before. Ryder tells him what Maggie said and that he’ll face the HSC. He wants Blake to come clean but Blake fears his dad’s reaction more than going to juvie.

Robbo and Jasmine are both in the bedroom with Tori, while Scott paces outside. Mike helps her deliver the baby and says she has a healthy baby girl. Back in town, Leah and Justin are eating at Salt. Justin is fielding a long phone call from Mason, pointing out that he won’t get news if Mason’s tying up the phone. He expresses regret that he’s not with Tori but Leah thinks he’d be a nightmare in the delivery room. Mason suddenly phones back, checking to see if there’s any information, and Justin notes he’d be worse.

Scott joins Tori, Robbo and Jasmine in the bedroom with the baby as Mike leaves. Tori admits she hasn’t thought of a name and Scott confirms she’s been asking everyone for suggestions. Tori has narrowed it down to three and asks Robbo to pick which one, even though he thinks it should be her choice: Charity, Joy and Grace. Robbo chooses Grace and Tori hands the newly-named baby to him. Meanwhile, Ryder is collecting a pizza from Salt and runs into John, who senses something is troubling him. Ryder says he’s got a dilemma, which can be solved by throwing someone else under the bus. John deduces he’s talking about Blake and suggests he needs to look out for himself.

Justin rejoins Leah after putting Ava to bed and notes she’s looking forward to meeting her new cousin. Even though he’s wired, Leah suggests they go to bed. However, he then gets a text with a photo of Tori and the baby and a caption saying Grace is looking forward to seeing her uncle. Outside the safe house, Jasmine is walking with Scott, who recalls being on a stakeout in the bush when his son Toby was born two weeks early and having to rush back for the birth. He notes he’s glad he was there to see him grow up. Robbo appears and Scott gives them some space. Jasmine asks about Tori and if they still need to leave the country. Robbo tells her it’s over: Dylan Carter, the people threatening them and the man who killed his family have all been arrested and are going to jail. They have their lives back.

Next morning, at the Diner, John and Marilyn ask Maggie how the exams are going and she notes two students were caught cheating and Ryder disrupted an exam. She leaves, passing Leah and Justin who show John and Marilyn the photo of Tori and Grace and note they should be home soon. John goes to the surf club and finds Ryder playing pool. He says he has an exam at midday but isn’t sure yet if he can do it and has an hour to decide. He explains about Blake drugging Maggie’s drink and how he’s worried about how his father will react. John says Alf would tell him to do the right thing and he can’t help Blake by covering for him.

Maggie finds Ryder waiting outside her office. She lets him in and he reminds her about the cheating, saying the new plan was to sedate her and then swap the papers. Maggie asks who did it and Ryder says Blake Golan. At the safe house, Tori, Jasmine and Robbo are packing and getting ready to leave. Tori jokes about missing the place, but then feels ill and passes Grace to Robbo. She asks them to open the blinds (even though light is streaming through the windows), then clutches her head in pain. Scott calls to Mike outside as Tori collapses. Mike tries to revive her.
