Extended Summary

Ryder, Raffy and Bella are sat preparing for their movie marathon at the Morgan house. Justin asks what they’re watching but Raffy says there’s no old people so Justin joins Mason at the table. Ryder and Raffy plan to walk to Stewarts Point tomorrow and invite Bella to come with them. Bella says she has her assignment to do but Raffy thinks she can ask Simone for an extension. Justin mentions Brody and Simone aren’t moving in together anymore but haven’t broken up. Raffy calls Simone a homewrecker despite Justin insisting they should support Brody.

At the Palmer house, John tells Marilyn that Jett’s in bed and knows to call him if there’s anything he needs. Marilyn asks about the investigation. John says it’s routine, but at the same time, Jett was new to the job and mistakes can happen. Marilyn asks what will happen if they think he was responsible for the deaths. John says the army could charge him. Meanwhile, Bella arrives back at the flat and, hearing the shower running, calls out to Colby not to use the hot water. She gets a text from Raffy arranging to meet at midday and texts back agreeing. Next moment, she gets a text from Simone asking to meet her at the school photo lab at the same time.

Next morning, Mason takes Raffy’s blood pressure. Raffy says she hasn’t had any seizures since she started taking the oil. Justin comes in from taking Buddy for a walk and Mason heads off to meet Robbo. Raffy asks Justin if he’s going to see Leah. Justin admits he’s not sure what’s going on there. He also asks her to go easy on Brody.

Down on the beach, Leah and Roo have just finished a gym class. Roo comments on the fact that Justin wasn’t surfing. Leah tells her about Justin booking the motel room and says if she’d gone when he said then it would just be like every other relationship she’s had. Roo reminds her there aren’t supposed to be any rules.

At the Diner, Bella complains to Irene about being expected to meet both Raffy and Ryder, and Simone. Roo overhears part of the conversation, saying she’s going into school to do extra work as well. Irene thinks Raffy will understand that Bella needs to concentrate on her schoolwork. Bella reminds her that Raffy hates Simone but Irene doesn’t think it matters and says Bella has to do what’s best for her.

John and Marilyn greet Jett. John insists on getting Jett scrambled egg, saying he needs something to eat. Jett thanks John for checking on him during the night but says he’ll say if he needs anything in future. Both John and Marilyn offer to iron him a shirt with John winning out. Jett thanks them both. Later, John shows Colonel Porter and another officer, Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Haynes, into the house. Marilyn says they’ll be out the back but Jett suggests they go out for the day, saying he’ll call them when they’re done. The officers commence the interview.

Leah and Justin share a stilted conversation at the Diner. Roo has a conversation with Justin, supposedly about the article he’s reading but really about his relationship with Leah. Roo says he needs to remember the rules of play and Justin says he’s not sure about playing that. Roo tries to get Leah to talk to Justin but she says he’s not interested and tries to say she’s not bothered. Not too far away, John and Marilyn chat to Raffy and Ryder about Jett’s interview. Bella comes along and tells Raffy and Ryder she can’t join them since Colby is taking her shopping in Yabbie Creek. They say they can do it next week.

Porter and Haynes continue to question Jett, who confirms he received a report on the increased danger of a suicide bombing and told his men. Haynes asks what precautions he took. Jett says he went over the procedures with them but can’t remember anything else. Porter says the doctor told them about his concussion and asks what he remembers about the location of the deceased. Jett haltingly says that they were having trouble with the coms so he called Corporal Sharpe in and was speaking to him and Private Simmonds about it but can’t remember more than that.

Outside the surf club, Roo approaches Justin, who is planning to go for a surf. She tries to get him to talk to Leah. Justin says Leah’s lost interest and maybe he’s not suited to that sort of casual relationship. Inside, Raffy and Ryder are playing pool. Roo turns up as Ryder misses a shot. They discuss Bella going shopping and Roo mentions she thought Bella was meeting Simone at the school. Ryder suggests her plans changed but Roo puts paid to that by saying she spoke to her two hours ago, before they did.

Outside the Diner, Bella shows Irene the photos she’s had developed. Ryder and Raffy turn up and Raffy has a go at Bella for lying to them. Bella tries to explain but Raffy accuses her of siding with “the homewrecker”. Raffy storms off and Ryder tries to reassure Bella before following her. Bella thinks they won’t be friends with her now. Irene says Raffy will calm down and Ryder didn’t seem to mind but Bella thinks Raffy won’t let Ryder be friends with her.

Inside, Irene tries to convince Bella that things will be sorted, saying she just needs to show Raffy that she has her back. Roo comes in and tells Leah that Justin is more interested than she thinks, before jokingly saying to stop involving her in her love life because it’s exhausting. Justin arrives home and is shocked to find Leah in his bed. She reminds him he gave her a key and says she didn’t mind the motel room, it was just a bad night. Justin says now’s not a good time. Leah waits a few seconds, then he comes back in and says since she’s there… They start kissing.

John and Marilyn have arrived home and John shows Porter and Haynes out of the house. They ask Jett how it went. Jett says they’ll find out soon enough and Porter didn’t give anything away. He feels guilty that men under his command died and he’s missed one of the funerals. Later, Marilyn is telling John she let Raffy know it wasn’t the night for a visit when Jett comes in and announces he’s booking a flight and needs a lift to the airport: It’s James’ funeral in Ballina tomorrow. John and Marilyn aren’t sure but he’s insistent. After Jett has left the room, John tells Marilyn that it’s Jett’s choice and he’ll go with him.

Clad in black, Bella picks the lock to the school and goes to Simone’s office. She spray paints the word “Homewrecker” on the door and then walks away.
