Extended Summary

In the surf club, John and Ben trade barbed comments about the state of the place in front of an exasperated Alf. Coco comes down and asks Ben for a lift home but Ben is busy with the shop. Raffy and Ryder come down and try to talk to Coco but she says she’ll get home another way. Ben asks the other two for an explanation. Down on the beach, Dean approaches Willow and tells her she left her phone behind the previous night. Colby and Chelsea join them and explain about Bella doing the test. Chelsea and Willow go off for coffee, leaving Colby to tell Dean about them moving away. Dean seems disappointed but accepts it.

Colby and Chelsea head up to the flat and wonder if they’ve come back too early. Maggie says there’s another couple of minutes but Bella says that won’t do any good and she’s done now. Colby gives her some money to go to the Diner. Bella suggests it’s because they want to talk about how stupid she is; Colby replies that she’s not stupid but they do need to talk about her. Once she’s gone, Maggie admits she didn’t do very well. Meanwhile, Raffy and Ryder are sat outside the surf club. Raffy is bombarding Coco with texts despite Ryder suggesting she let the dust settle. Raffy stops Ryder kissing her, saying Coco is the priority and they shouldn’t have waited so long before telling her. She decides to go and look for her on her own, again stopping Ryder from kissing her. Bella comes along and, when Ryder tries to walk away, follows him saying they’re hanging out.

Maggie explains that Bella is intelligent and expresses herself well but is at primary level with regards literacy and numeracy. She says they can’t put her in Year 7 so she’ll need a bridging course and ongoing support, offering to draw up a plan. Colby and Chelsea explain they’re moving but Maggie says they can take it with them and offers to make calls about schools that offer more help. Chelsea reassures Colby they can handle it. Down in the Diner, Marilyn is serving Maggie as she gets a call from Ben. Raffy comes in and asks Maggie to take her to see Coco. Maggie says Ben told her what happened and asks Raffy to let her handle it first.

Dean and Willow walk through the caravan park; Dean has filled Willow in on Colby going. Willow notes it’ll be just the two of them again, which gets another reaction from Dean. Back at the flat, Colby is blaming Ross for ignoring Bella’s education. Chelsea insists they’ll help her. She gets a text about a wedding dress fitting in half an hour but tells Colby she’ll postpone it to help him with Bella. Colby insists she go and says he’ll tell her what happens.

Maggie arrives home and comments on Coco being back there. Coco claims she came back to do washing but Maggie says Ben told her. Coco admits it was a bit of a shock and says it shouldn’t bother her given how long ago she and Ryder broke up but she doesn’t know how it’s going to work. At the Diner, Raffy tells Marilyn that Coco was willing to give up the camp for her and she left her out of the loop. Marilyn points out she was always planning to tell Coco but Raffy is worried they’ll stop being friends and notes Coco can hold a grudge. Marilyn thinks it will be fine but Coco is telling Maggie she’s not sure if she wants to see them again. She doesn’t have feelings for Ryder anymore but is worried she’ll be the odd one out. Maggie asks if Raffy did and Coco says she did at the beginning but they made sure she felt okay. Maggie suggests Ryder and Raffy will do the same for her.

Ryder and Bella walk through the caravan park; Ryder complains about having another chick problem and worries what Dean will do if he sees them together…right before Dean comes out of a van and sees them together. Bella doesn’t help by quipping that Ryder’s worried Dean will think they’ll have sex and Dean, perhaps half-seriously, tells Ryder he’s watching him. Ryder and Bella head to the house where they find Coco waiting with Alf. Alf leaves them alone and it takes some heavy hint dropping for Bella to do the same, with Ryder also having to tell Coco who she is. Coco says she’s come to Ryder because he’s a bad liar and asks why they didn’t tell her. Ryder says they wanted to do it together. Coco says they hurt her.

Willow has got a wedding SOS from Chelsea and enlists Dean to help her out after he calls Chelsea a bridezilla. Chelsea arrives and asks Willow to help out by getting quotes for lights, music, hair, make-up and food. She gives them a spreadsheet to divide them up. Dean insists he’s happy with them for getting a fresh start. Meanwhile, Colby finds Bella on the wharf, noting she didn’t make it to the Diner. He tells her she’s not stupid but not going to school has made things hard and explains about the bridging course. Bella asks if it’s true that it’s illegal for her not to go to school and suggests no-one would know since she hasn’t been in five years. Colby points out he’s a cop. Bella says she really doesn’t want to go.

Raffy admits to Marilyn that she’s texted Coco twenty-three times without response. Ryder and Coco turn up and Raffy babbles an apology but Coco insists it’s fine. She does however ask them not to rub her face in it. At the caravan park, Colby and Chelsea discuss Bella and the dress fitting. Willow and Dean arrive with the quotes, although Dean wanted to only get one for the florist. Colby takes Dean aside and warns him to be careful with Willow. They slip away for a surf. Chelsea gets a phone call from the venue. She says she was told it was still available despite her cancelling but finds that isn’t true.

Bella nearly walks out of the Diner but Coco calls her over and asks about her meeting with Maggie. Bella recalls Ross saying school wasn’t important but it turned out to be untrue like a lot of things he said. She asks Coco what happened with Raffy and Ryder. Coco accepts it’s strange having your best friend go out with your ex-boyfriend. Bella says she’s never had a boyfriend or a friend. Down on the beach, Colby reassures Chelsea about losing the venue, saying they’ll take the next available date, which is in a couple of months. Bella joins them and they tell her they need to put off the move for a bit. Bella seems more comfortable with the idea of staying in the Bay, saying she’ll get to spend the summer with her friends. As the three of them walk away with arms around each other, Ross watches them from the bushes.
