Jasmine learns the shocking truth about Robbo. Colby’s attempts to avoid Chelsea backfire. Can Willow stop Dean from spiraling out of control?
Extended Summary
Colby arrives back in town and is greeted by Jasmine. He says he’s been away for a couple of days and heard about Willow and Dean, although they’re not responding to his texts. He’s heading into work. Jasmine attempts to casually ask if he knows where Robbo went. Colby says Robbo texted him to say he was going away but didn’t give any details. At the surf club, Willow rejoins Justin and tells him what Dean said. They think Dean can sort himself out. On the steps of his caravan, Dean leaves a phone message for his mum, saying he just wants to know she’s okay.
Chelsea is on the phone as Colby arrives at the police station and takes a desk near her. McCarthy gives Colby a large file of traffic violations. He says Chelsea can help but Colby says he can handle it himself. Chelsea goes over to the desk and he tells her he had leave and went up the coast. Chelsea wonders if he was avoiding her. McCarthy appears again, telling Colby to investigate John’s report of vandalism outside the surf club. Chelsea wants to go with him but Colby again turns her down, saying he’s saving her from John’s tirades. Outside the surf club, Alf and John show Colby some graffiti on a lifesaving vehicle but can’t think of any suspects. John ponders getting the community service people to clean it. Colby runs into Willow nearby. She tells him about Dean phoning his mum and he suggests they sit down and talk.
Colby and Willow enter the surf club and she sends him upstairs while she talks to Mason. She asks him to cover her afternoon shift at the gym while she attends community service orientation. Mason sarcastically remarks that at least she asked this time but does agree. Jasmine comes up to Mason and asks if there’s a boxing class, saying she needs to hit something. Up in Salt, Willow tells Colby that Karen didn’t visit Dean when he was in jail. When he got out, he went home and she threatened him with a knife. Willow convinced Dean to cut all ties with her. She asks Colby to talk to him.
Mason leads the boxing class on the headland, also partnering Jasmine who is hitting the pads he’s holding. He calls a break, then asks Jasmine what’s wrong. Jasmine asks how long he’s known about Tori and Robbo but Mason is clueless. Jasmine tells him that they’re a couple and he’s having to cover because they’re gone away together. Mason heads home and complains to Justin, saying he’s having more work because neither Justin’s girlfriend nor Tori’s boyfriend are there. Justin says Tori and Robbo aren’t together and eventually admits it’s IVF business. Mason realises Robbo’s the donor and dismisses it as a bad decision, despite Justin trying to get him to support her.
Colby approaches Dean at the caravan park and tries to talk to him, saying Willow told him what happened. Dean says there’s things Colby doesn’t know and he doesn’t want to talk about it, storming off. Chelsea has been nearby during the conversation and asks Colby if Dean’s connected to the surf club vandalism. Colby wonders why she’s there and she points out that she lives there and, unlike him, is on a break. Colby says he was looking out for a mate. At the surf club, John is fretting about the community service he’s arranged, especially with Dean coming. Alf says Dean would be mad to step out of line on a good behaviour bond…then again, it is Dean. Willow turns up and texts Dean asking where he is. The community support officer, Phil, arrives. He tells the group that John will be their supervisor and will report on attendance and behaviour. John asks Willow where Dean is: She says he’s on his way.
Colby arrives back at the police station and tries to ignore Chelsea. She takes him to task for hanging out with gang mates but Colby says it’s nothing to do with her. McCarthy calls Colby to the office and asks him about Chelsea, saying he knows they’ve worked together before. Colby says she’s an outstanding officer and, when pressed, admits they dated. McCarthy says he heard they were engaged and she requested the transfer. He says the last thing he needs is a pair of jilted ex-lovers working there. Colby insists it’s not a problem. At the surf club, Dean finally turns up and tells Willow he lost track of time. John and Phil aren’t pleased he missed half the session and Willow offers to fill him in. Dean has little interest in talking to her or discussing Karen.
At the Diner, Jasmine complains to Irene about still not knowing the full story with Tori and Robbo. Mason calls Jasmine over to his table and tells her Tori and Robbo aren’t a couple…but are having a baby together, explaining about the IVF. Irene returns from the kitchen to find Jasmine looking shocked. Later, back at the beach house, Jasmine has filled Irene in. Irene is surprised but realises it explains Leah’s odd behaviour lately. Jasmine is glad she didn’t tell Robbo how she felt. Irene thinks there’s still a chance but Jasmine thinks there’s no room for her in Robbo’s life and she needs to move on.
Colby and Willow head to the caravan park where they find Dean sitting by a fire. Willow tells him Karen was wrong about him: He’s not worthless. They remind him he protected Colby over the car crash and did the same for Willow over the break-in. Dean says he knows it’s not Willow’s fault but still isn’t happy about giving up on Karen. They agree to give him some space. Willow heads to Salt and meets with Justin, starting to fill him in on the day. Mason appears and dumps the gym keys on the table, telling Willow to lock up. Justin tries to object but Mason is fed up of doing other people’s work. Justin tells him to stop taking what happened with Dempsey out on other people. Mason just walks away.
Colby is called back into McCarthy’s office; Chelsea is already there and has given McCarthy her version of events. McCarthy says she should have explained when she asked for the transfer. They both insist there’s no problem. McCarthy says they’re going to work together the next day: Colby can familiarise Chelsea with the area. He needs to know they can be professional, and if they can’t one of them will have to go.
