Extended Summary

Willow receives a package at the caravan park, which is seen by Dean. Willow has been buying a lot of clothes recently but insists she’s still ahead with her gambling winnings and notes she’s back on the market now. When Dean shows an interest, she tells him to get to work. Dean says she’s lucky not having to hang out with Justin anymore. When Dean gets to the garage, Justin is on the phone to his lawyer, disputing several of Ebony’s claims notably the loss of income. Ziggy explains the situation to Dean. Justin says the latest bad news is the insurance might not cover it, meaning they could lose the garage.

Raffy is wolfing down breakfast, to the bemusement of John and Marilyn. Ty comes in, wearing Summer Bay High uniform. Marilyn offers him a big breakfast but he just takes toast. Raffy rather sharply tells him he’s in her way. Marilyn gives them both packed lunches; Ty isn’t keen but she insists. Later, at school, Raffy sees him binning the food. He says he didn’t want Marilyn’s hippy rabbit food but didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Raffy has a go at him and he retorts that they’ll never love her like their own. Raffy slaps him and Roo steps in, ordering them into the office. She tells them to apologise to each other but they refuse. She says there’ll be consequences in the morning but now she has to call John and Marilyn to take them home. Ty walks out.

Justin, Ziggy and Dean are on their way to Salt to discuss a plan of action. Dean sees Willow nearby and asks to be excused, with Justin happy to do without him. Dean chats to Willow, who seems torn between wanting to know what’s wrong with Justin and wanting to keep her distance. Up in Salt, Justin and Ziggy have filled in Brody. Justin hasn’t been able to get hold of Tori or Ash. He also doesn’t want to get a lawyer involved and thinks there was nothing wrong with the car and they should fight it. Ziggy points out that would involve a lawyer so suggests he talks to Ebony directly. Brody is wary but Justin agrees.

Justin and Ebony meet at Salt. Justin continues to query some of Ebony’s claims but Ebony argues that she’s not able to work. Justin says that with the garage closed he’s not got money coming in either. Ebony concedes that the lawyers are the ones doing the best out of it. Justin offers to cover reasonable costs and says he’ll come back to her with a figure. After he’s gone, Ebony looks at her bag and smiles. Outside, Dean is hanging around while Willow is finishing off a class. Justin is on the phone to Tori and tells Dean the morning off was supposed to be for brainstorming, sending him back to the garage. He briefly talks to Willow about the problem; she is initially sympathetic but soon restates that they’re over.

At home, Marilyn questions Raffy about why she got violent with Ty. Raffy says she was just sticking up for John and Marilyn but is rather evasive. Marilyn presses her for anything she needs to know and Raffy seems on the verge of answering when John comes home; he found Ty but he wanted space. Raffy goes off to her room. Later, John asks Marilyn if maybe they’ve overreached themselves and are a one-child family. Marilyn is uncertain but agrees that Ty should be somewhere where he’s happy. John thinks he should ring the fostering people and say they’re not coping with Ty, even though it means they’re unlikely to foster again. Raffy listens in.

Justin tells Brody that Tori has agreed to him using the money they raised for Ava’s ransom to pay off Ebony. Brody thinks they should get a lawyer to look it over but Dean, who is eating his lunch at the bar, thinks they’re better off leaving lawyers out of it. He gets a text from Ziggy summoning him back to the garage. Brody is uncertain but Justin is convinced. Shortly after, he meets Ebony and offers her $25,000: 15 for the car, 5 for medical expenses, 3 for the motel and 2 for travel. Justin says they don’t want it getting ugly. Ebony reminds him she missed out on an interview because of the accident. Justin says she might not have got the job and Ebony counters that she could have. Justin offers her $30,000. Ebony says that just covers costs so Justin offers to help her get a job as well.

Raffy finds Ty on the beach and apologises. Ty asks if John and Marilyn gave her a nice speech to give but Raffy says they didn’t send her. She offers to let him hit her. Ty says he doesn’t hit girls and Raffy says she doesn’t normally hit anyone. She tells him about John and Marilyn possibly losing their chance to foster. Some time later, she has filled him in on her history, including Decker dying just after she found out he was her dad. Ty says John and Marilyn must be good if she chose them over her family. Raffy says it’s not that, but living with John and Marilyn is the first time she’s felt safe and secure. Ty acknowledges they’re good people. He says his mum’s not a bad person but couldn’t cope, and things were okay with his grandparents. He agrees to make an effort while he’s there but isn’t sure about staying on.

Justin and Brody show Ebony round the back of Salt; she’ll be able to work there on light duties until she gets better. Ebony agrees to the offer and says she’ll contact them about a start date. After she’s gone, Brody isn’t happy that Justin made the offer without consulting him. Back in her motel room, Ebony looks at the cheque and plays a cobbled together audio file in which Justin appears to say if she doesn’t take the offer and drop the court case things could get ugly. She comments that it sounds like blackmail. She plays eenie-meenie-mini-mo with pictures of her remaining targets and ends up on Colby.

Justin meets Dean at the caravan park and tells him Ebony accepted the offer. He sees Willow and goes over to her but she refuses to talk, accusing him of not being able to accept that she dumped him. She goes into her caravan but looks upset. Taking out her phone, she contemplates both Justin’s number and the gambling app. Dean comes in looking for some beer and convinces her to go out for a drink with him. Later, Ziggy drops by Salt to collect a takeaway from Brody. Dean and Willow are chatting at a table and Justin says it’s to get a reaction from him. Willow kisses Dean and Brody warns Justin not to overreact. Justin stops at their table and tells Willow that she wins and they’re over.
