Extended Summary

Tori is drinking a coffee outside the surf club. Ash appears with Luc and notes that he hasn’t seen her lately, adding that she ran away last time he spoke to her. Tori quickly makes an exit. Ash then bumps into another pram. Although neither child is harmed, the woman pushing the pram, Liz, complains that he’s broken her wheel. At the Diner, Tori complains to Leah about Ash, with Justin turning up halfway through. Leah thinks Tori should accept he’s genuine but Tori decides to text Colin about another date. Leah tries to dissuade her, pointing out their last date was a disaster, but Tori says that was down to Ash. She gets a text back from Colin suggesting they meet at Salt that afternoon. Justin tells her that Ash told him weeks ago that he liked her but Tori says it’s too late. Justin comments to Leah on her supposedly being the intelligent one in the family.

Scarlett blames Kat for leaving the folder unattended, saying anyone could have got hold of it, including Robbo. She argues that Kat went to great lengths the previous week to prove Robbo innocent but didn’t do the same for Brody because she’s not sleeping with him. At the Palmer house, Robbo is fixing the sink. Marilyn senses he is worried about what happened on the boat and tells him Dylan wasn’t very nice. John comes home and is curt with Robbo, saying they haven’t got a plunger. Robbo says he’ll go and get one rather than leave the job half done.

Ash fixes the pram wheel but warns Liz that the fitting is dodgy. Liz protests that the pram is top of the range and says his wife would know. Ash says he doesn’t have one and is raising Luc with help from her grandma. Liz says she’s the same since Phoenix’s dad left and suggests they meet later for a coffee with the kids. Irene turns up, doting on both babies, and Liz quickly realises she’s the grandmother. She suggests Ash call her after nap time. Irene, Ash and Luc head home. Irene thinks Liz wasn’t cracking onto Ash but arranging a play date. Ash doesn’t want to give her the wrong idea but Irene says that since things aren’t going anywhere with Tori he should call Liz.

Kat goes for a run on the beach before encountering Scarlett near the flat. Kat thinks Scarlett should have come to her first but Scarlett says Kat would have messed it up. Kat is incensed and tells Scarlett to move out. At the Morgan house, Tori is getting ready for her date as Justin tells her he’s going to take Brody to an NA meeting and then stay overnight and see Ava. He accuses Tori of being scared to go there with Ash. Tori meets Colin at Salt and finds Ash and Liz already there (with Luc and Phoenix). She dismisses the coincidence and asks Colin about his job. He makes a joke about a “hairy” day (involving examining hair samples) which Tori finds more funny that it deserves. Liz is chatting to Ash about baby food but he is paying more attention to Tori’s exaggerated laughing.

At the Diner, despite Marilyn trying to advise her otherwise, Scarlett asks Alf if she can have her old caravan back, saying things didn’t work out with Kat. Alf and Marilyn however think the two of them have a lot in common, being strong independent women involved in the law. Scarlett notes it sounds like a sitcom as they encourage her to give Kat a chance. Not too far away, Justin runs into Kat and says they’re still mates despite what happened. Kat apologises for what happened with Brody but tells him about Scarlett looking at her files and turning vigilante and now accusing her of being bad at her job. Justin tries to smooth things over.

Marilyn comes home to find John and Robbo arguing over where to hang a picture, with Robbo thinking the wall isn’t strong enough where John wants it. He eventually gets fed up and hands it to John before walking out. At Salt, Colin is explaining his job to an overly-enthusiastic Tori, rather bemused at her constant laughter. Ash tells Liz he’s going to get more drinks and Tori joins him at the bar. Ash reminds her she wasn’t interested and she corrects him that she didn’t want to be a rebound. Ash argues that that’s what she’s made Colin. He says that he’s with Liz as a play date for the children but suggests he could make it a real date.

When Kat comes home, Scarlett apologises to her and Kat returns the sentiment. Scarlett says she didn’t mean what she said and didn’t think her actions through. Kat admits she should have handled the case better and searched Jay’s house but was upset at missing out on the promotion. Scarlett asks whether she should pack or not. Later, Kat says that her instincts just tell her Robbo’s a good man. Scarlett is impressed by her leap of faith and says she’ll go along with it. She asks if she can stay and Kat agrees.

John is doing the hoovering but Marilyn unplugs it and says if he really wants to make it up to her then he should apologise to Robbo. John thinks he’s dodgy but Marilyn points out he’s not dissimilar to John a short while ago: Been through a trauma, can’t remember what happened, worried he’s done something bad. She says he’s part of their community and they should help him. John goes to see Robbo at the caravan park and admits he’s been a goose and was jealous of the attention Marilyn was giving Robbo. Robbo offers him a beer. John tells him about his own experience, not being able to remember his childhood, only getting bad memories back and worrying he had a darkness inside him. He says it’s the uncertainty and that Robbo might never know the full story but John thinks he’s a good man.

Colin suggests to Tori that things aren’t working out. Justin, who has just come in, loudly agrees and expresses a similar sentiment about Ash and Liz. Liz gets up and tells Ash he’s paying; Colin helps her take Phoenix’s pram downstairs and suggests they have a drink somewhere else. Justin says if they get married he wants an invite. Tori walks out and Justin tells Ash to go after her, adding that he’ll keep an eye on Luc…and also helping himself to Ash’s beer. It is evening before Ash tracks down Tori nearby. He tells her he doesn’t know how else to convince her and then kisses her. Tori responds but then rapidly walks away.
