Extended Summary
Justin showers post-surf, as Ben approaches and gives him the good news – the Astoni family is here to stay. Justin thinks it’s great news, and assures that it’s the best place in the world… Back at the Morgan House, Tori and Mason attempt to get her head around the fact that Brody acted as Zannis’ dealer. Brody urges his siblings not to tell Justin, as he enters and clocks that something is not right. After being filled in, Justin assures Brody that he knows exactly how he feels. Brody tells his siblings that they can’t call the police – he’ll just move the drugs through Salt, then Zannis is gone. Despite opposition, Brody holds firm – he got them stuck in this mess, and he’s going to get them out.
At the Farm House, the Astoni family (sans Coco) is unpacking all their boxes. Ben hands Ziggy a box labelled ‘private’ and she orders him not to open it. Maggie enters the room and subtly asks Ziggy to help. Ziggy retorts – she’s painting her nails, to which Maggie asks whether she should try looking for a job. Ben agrees with Maggie – why doesn’t he ask Justin whether there’s a job going at Salt. Maggie says that she has to look for herself, and Ben offers to drive her so she can ask Brody.
A frazzled Brody enters Salt to be greeted by Ziggy, who thanks him for saving her, but he brushes her off. She continues, stating that she was wondering if he could give her a job. Brody orders Ziggy out when he sees the delivery coming and she says that she thought she was starting to like him, before heading off. Brody signs for the package and texts Zannis. They meet outside the Surf Club and he hands over the package. As Zannis tells Brody that he has another job, sirens begin blaring and the police arrive. Kat orders the two men to put their hands where she can see them, but they both make a run for it and are tackled to the ground by police as Ben watches on.
At the Police Station, Tori and Justin come rushing in as Zannis is put into a holding cell. Justin fires up at the sight of Zannis but McCarthy calms the situation – he’s not worth it. Zannis claims that Brody is the real criminal as he is escorted away. When he’s gone, Kat removes the handcuffs from Brody, informing him that the set-up worked. McCarthy tells Brody that he was brave today, and Justin assures him that he has a disease. Then, Kat enters and tells Brody to check into the station every day so that Zannis’ associates think that he’s out on bail. On the topic of him moving illegal substances, Brody’s case is now with the DPP, but his cooperation will be considered. In the Waiting Area, Tori is comforted when Ash arrives and she fills him in on what happened. He gives her a hug as Kat walks out, and Tori quickly hurries off with her brothers, leaving Kat to sneer at Ash.
Back at the Farm House, Ziggy enters and tells Ben that she went to Salt, the Gym and the Juice Bar, and all John could say was “we’ll keep you in mind”. Then, a flat Ben informs his daughter that he watched Brody get arrested by the police. She assures him that she thought Brody was one of the good guys, but now she’s not sure. That Night, Ziggy texts Brody and asks him whether he’s okay. With that, Brody gains the strength to put the scorpion bag in the bin and take the rubbish out.
Ash and Kat walk into the Pier Apartment, mid-discussion about how Tori has a crush on him. Kat asks if anything happened between them and he hesitates. She presses, and he tells her that they had a moment. Ash tells Kat that it’s nothing to worry about but she assures it is – and it’s really starting to annoy her. The next morning at the Diner, Ash (with Luc) runs into Tori and Justin and pulls her aside, asking whether she has a thing for him. She denies it, but Ash isn’t convinced. He calls Kat and tells her that she was right. Later, Kat tells Ash that it’s cute that he only has eyes for her. Kat pushes to Ash to stop letting Tori babysit Luc – everything will become much easier if he stops seeing a woman with feelings for him.
In the Diner, Justin sits alone after Tori goes to work and Ben enters, asking Justin exactly what’s going on with Brody. Justin tells him it’s none of his business but when Ben mentions that Brody’s been seeing Ziggy, Justin feels the need to open up – Brody’s had an ice addiction. Ben can’t believe his ears, tells him to forget his surf and walks out. Back at the Farm House, Maggie informs Ben that she’s got the job – she’s the new Principal of Summer Bay High School. Ben tells Maggie about Brody’s addiction and they agreed that they must nip a budding romance between Ziggy and Brody in the bud.
In Salt, Ziggy enters and tells Brody that it’s good to see that he’s not in gaol. Brody reveals that he was working with police and explains that that’s why he was acting weird the day before – but he assures Ziggy that he’s not a good guy, he fell in with the wrong crowd. Ziggy says that everyone has skeletons in their closet, before offering to make him a deal – she won’t ask about his past, if he doesn’t ask about hers. Agreed? At the bar, Brody, having agreed, bonds with Ziggy, affirming that fact she falls for people, like Jarrod, because she sees the best in them. Brody tells Ziggy that he’s bad news, but Ziggy won’t have it. And with that, Brody and Ziggy kiss passionately.
