Extended Summary

Maggie and Ben are enjoying their extra time in the Bay. Coco arrives to break the news that Ziggy’s gone home. Maggie and Ben try to call around to find Ziggy. Alf offers to keep an eye out and introduces Coco to Raffy. Raffy’s psyched to have a new friend to hang out with. Raffy and Coco bond and at the end of the day, Coco’s sad to have to leave Summer Bay, having finally found a potential real friend that isn’t just online. When Ziggy shows up, she apologises to her parents for disappearing. Maggie decides they should leave as soon as possible, staying on was a mistake. Coco enters and announces she actually likes Summer Bay (having made a friend in Raffy), she doesn’t want to leave. Ziggy laments it’s three against one now. Ben suggests they can buy Ziggy a bus ticket home if she really wants to go. Ziggy relents, they’re staying another week.

Justin can’t get in touch with Brody and he has to make a bail sign in in two hours. Mason is worried about the state Brody was in last night. The siblings start searching for their brother. Ziggy’s driving the Salt van home when she’s shocked to hear Brody wake up in the back. Brody’s got a text from Zannis, but more importantly, what the hell is Ziggy doing with his van?! Brody demands his keys back and Ziggy tries hitching a lift. A car pulls over but Brody stops Ziggy getting in, worried about her. They argue back and forth and Ziggy storms off into the bush. Brody is forced to get out and follow her, he’s probably going to miss his bail sign in. Brody finds Ziggy and she complains about how her parents are always on her back. She’s over it. Brody knows how that feels, but he knows his family only do it because they care. Brody thinks she should talk it through with her parents and offers to drive her back. Ziggy agrees and asks why Brody needs to get back so quickly. Brody avoids answering. They wander back to the road only to find Kat waiting for them. She’s not surprised to see Ziggy Astoni is involved in Brody’s disappearance. Brody has some explaining to do. Kat arrives at the Morgans with Brody and warns him about missing bail again, even if it is to help a friend. Brody admits he was hallucinating their mother again and had to sleep in the van. Then he ran into a girl hitchhiking and picked her up, that’s why he was late to bail sign in. The hallucinations have stopped too. At the beach, Brody receives another text from Zannis asking if he’s in or out. Just at that moment, Ziggy finds Brody. Ziggy explains she told her mum it would be okay to spend the rest of their holiday in Summer Bay. She flirts and invites him for a swim, wandering into the water. Brody watches her go and texts Zannis back, “I’m out.” He follows Ziggy into the water, carefree as he launches himself into the waves. Has Ziggy’s nature been a positive influence on Brody after all?

Kat’s on her way to work just as Ash arrives home from with Luc. They have the meeting with the adoption lawyer today, but Kat needs to work. Ash thinks Kat is avoiding being involved. Kat heads to work as Tori walks in to see how Luc is doing, noting the tension between Ash and Kat. Ash confesses, the longer Kat takes to decide about her involvement with Luc, the more it feels like a no. If the judge approves Mick’s DNA test today, he could get access to Luc, so it’s important Ash presents a steady relationship. Tori wonders if the whole thing with Kat is just for the custody case, Ash reckons it’s a subject they would have had to face one day, it’s just sooner than Kat may have wanted. Kat finds Tori. Brody’s missed his sign in. They head to Salt to see if he’s there and start chatting. Kat tells Tori having a baby isn’t on her radar. Ash didn’t have a choice, but she does. They’re only going through with custody to ward off Mick and that doesn’t feel right. Later, Ash tells Irene that the family court has thrown out Mick’s request for a paternity test, which means they don’t need to rush the adoption process, although he reassures they still want to go down that path. At home after work, Kat’s concerned to find out she’s been requested to testify against Dylan Carter in his upcoming corruption trial. Ash thinks that’s good news, he deserves it. Kat changes the subject and is glad to hear the pressure is off about the adoption. Ash can tell she’s relieved and knows she’s struggling. He wants the three of them to be a family, he wants to share everything with Kat. Kat argues the adoption isn’t happening now so it’s a moot point. Ash disagrees, he wants Kat to want this as much as he does, commit to being a family. He’s given her time but he needs to know what Kat wants and he’s not letting it drop this time. Kat asks Ash for a few more days but Ash argues if she’s not happy now a few more days won’t make any difference. Kat gathers her courage and admits the truth, she’s not sure if being a full time mum is right for her, she doesn’t even know if she wants to have kids of her own. Ash is taken aback. Kat continues, but she loves Ash. Ash asks where Luc fits in. Kat wonders if maybe she just needs more time to bond with Luc but Ash points out she’s going for promotion. Desperate to hold onto her relationship, Kat grasps at straws, she could ask her boss to delay it. Ash worries that could just make Kat resent Luc. It’s time they got real. Ash loves Kat but as hard as they keep trying, they’re never going to work. Kat’s distraught but remains stoic. She goes to pack her things. Are Kat and Ash over?
