Are the police too late to catch the developers? Is Angelo a sore loser. What could send Martha packing?

Extended Summary

When Colleen overhears Charlie telling Roman about the development and the cancer risk associated with it, she flies into a panic. Rachel tries to calm her down and suggests she keep it to herself until they have some hard evidence, but Colleen thinks the public deserve to know, and it’s soon the talk of the town. When Jack finds out, he’s furious that nobody’s brought it to him sooner, given the implications for Martha and her condition.

Unfortunately, by the time they get a warrant to search the development site, Tim’s had time to cover everything up, and they find nothing. Then Tim arrives at the station, all innocent, with Belle’s camera. He claims it was found in some bushes near the site, but it’s so clogged with dirt as to be ruined. Realising the gossip may have tipped Tim off, the police decide to hold a town meeting at the Diner to urge calm and halt the further spread of news until they’ve finished their investigation.

For Martha, the news of the cancer cluster is the last shock. That the very home she loves could have poisoned her is too much to bear. Upset, she tells Jack that she needs to go away, to learn to cope and find her strength. He agrees to take his leave, go anywhere she wants, but that’s not what she means. She needs to go alone.

Belle knows it’s time to break up with Angelo, but not wanting to break his heart, decides not to tell him about she and Aden. Little does she know, however, that he saw her kissing Aden, and then retreating into her bedroom with him. When she does break up with Angelo, he gives her every opportunity to tell him the truth about her and Aden, but honestly not wanting to hurt him, she holds it back. Hurting, Angelo speaks to Roman, who admits Aden was having an affair with Belle, believing Angelo already knows.

Angelo then brings up Belle’s phone records at the police station, more proof of how much contact she had with Aden behind his back. When he next speaks to her, he tells her he knows she was with Aden the night before. Caught out, she admits it, but insists it was the first time. Again Angelo feigns ignorance, until the town meeting when he can’t hold it in anymore, and blurts out what he knows and what he thinks of Belle in front of everyone. Aden chases after him, furious that Angelo would humiliate Belle in front of all her friends and family. Angelo responds calmly. He’s a sore loser, and Aden better watch his back from now on.
