What is really going on with Ross? Belle finds a new cause to fight for.

Extended Summary

Belle is still dating Angelo, and while he’s crazy about her, she’s feeling more reserved about him, wanting to take it slow. In truth she’s not really over Aden. And worse, she’s not sure who she is anymore, she feels like she’s lost her passion, doubting her future as a photographer. Irene does her best to cheer Belle up, even buying her an expensive art book.

Then Belle’s approached by Murray Buchanan, the environment officer of the local council. He’s familiar with the work she did for the Coastal News, and he wants her to help him stop a local development he claims is being built on a toxic waste dump that’s been covered up for years. Though doubtful at first, Belle agrees to help.

Though feeling somewhat worse for wear after her first chemo session, Martha’s feeling confident about her future, especially after hearing Bridget’s story.

When Ruby arrives for cards and dinner with Ross, she can’t understand why Morag is so worried by his disappearance. It seems to her like Morag is going way overboard. Then, while Charlie’s out driving, Ross stumbles out into the middle of the road, and constable Fitzgerald only barely avoids hitting him. She finds him confused and disoriented, and though he tries to play it down, attributing his state to wine, sleeping pills and jet lag, it’s obvious to Charlie that something’s not quite right with him. However hard Morag tries to raise her worries, Ross is unwilling to consider the possibility he might have a problem, driven by inner fear to outer anger. Finally, Morag cracks, telling Alf that Ross is no longer the man she married.
