Will Nicole get away with her party? Is honesty the best policy for Martha? Nicole’s party is no fun for Melody.

Extended Summary

The Pier Diner grand opening is going great, and it seems everyone is set on offering Martha champagne. Now that she’s pregnant, she has a hard time coming up with enough excuses to avoid drinking. Eventually she decides to leave early, and Rachel goes with her. Rachel explains that due to the short period of time between breaking up with Roman and getting together with Jack, it’s too close to tell who the father is. Worse, the tests needed to find out for sure would increase the likelihood of a miscarriage, and require letting at least one of the men know about her doubts. Rachel thinks Martha has to tell Jack, but Martha’s worried it will jeopardise their newfound love. Instead she decides to fudge the dates and swears Rachel to secrecy.

When Matilda gets a message about Nicole’s party, she and Belle decide to head over there and bring some of the kids back to the Den. When they arrive, they’re not impressed. The party is getting more and more out of control. Aden swears it has nothing to do with him, and he’s only stayed to try to keep things under control, but Belle is sceptical. Nevertheless, his actions throughout the night do seem to support his words. Despite their best attempts, Belle and Matilda are forced to give up on bringing anyone back to the Den.

As Melody waits at Nicole’s party, Annie convinces Geoff that he should go, AVO or not. But when he gets there, it’s not what Melody or Annie had planned. Geoff feels this has all become far too complicated and risky, and tells Melody to go home. To her shock and devastation, he’s breaking up with her. Geoff and Annie then take their leave, but Melody doesn’t want to go home, and retreats upstairs. A very drunken Axel soon finds her, sent upstairs by Aden to sleep off his intoxication. He does his best to comfort her, but when she leaves she’s withdrawn and uncharacteristically vehement in her anger at Geoff. Though furious when Melody finally arrives home, even Christine can see that something isn’t right with her daughter.

As the clock ticks, more and more gatecrashers arrive, and it seems less and less likely Nicole will get away with this. But despite all odds, she and Aden manage to get everyone out, and remove any trace of the party, before Roman gets home. Except Axel, who staggers downstairs to ask Roman where the party went. Busted!
