The danger against Sally increases, and Martin finally raises the money to buy his take-away food business – only to find it has already been sold.

Extended Summary

At the mobile home, Martin berates Lance for giving his money away. Lance says it’s his money but Martin says if he’d asked him he’d have talked him out of it. Lance says Pippa needed the money to buy clothes and food for Sally and he isn’t going to ask for it back. Martin says that if Lance isn’t going to show him any loyalty they aren’t friends any more.

At the Diner, Adam tries to persuade Carly to go on a date with him but she refuses. Bobby reminds Carly she’s lost an hour’s pay for turning up late before wondering what’s wrong with Danny, who is sat at the counter looking miserable. Alf arrives with some sauce and tells Bobby about the break-in at Morag’s and how Danny’s changed his mind about moving out. Danny listens in as Alf, Bobby and Carly discuss how the person after Morag is probably someone they know, like the Summer Bay Nutter, and will soon be caught. He hurries down to the beach where he talks to his father again, saying the deal’s off and he’s not taking any more chances. He says no-one will believe Sally if she says anything but agrees to deal with her in his own way. Nearby, Sally and Lance are walking. Sally thinks Lance should ask for the money back but Lance says Martin needs to learn you should help your friends. Danny watches them.

Martin goes to the store and makes his pitch to Alf about his multi-billion dollar business idea. Celia comes in during it. Martin says it’s fast food and Alf realises he wants to buy Henry’s hot dog stand, saying Henry’s been trying to sell it for months and he isn’t interested. After Martin’s gone, Alf reminds Celia they also sell fast food and there’s no point helping the opposition. Celia wonders if someone else will buy it.

At Morag’s mansion, Danny is packing his things ready to move out after staying an extra night. Morag sees him looking in a cupboard for one of his books and gets it for him. She still isn’t keen on him moving out and thinks Bobby will try to stop him working for her. After he’s gone outside to get her a present, she takes a can of spray paint out of the cupboard and hides it in her desk. Danny presents her with a golden retriever named Banjo that will be her new guard dog, saying he won’t let anyone in without her say so. Morag doesn’t seem entirely happy with the idea but, shortly after Danny has gone, Martin arrives to make his pitch to her and Morag gets Banjo to scare him off.

Sally goes to see Martin at the mobile home and tells him she’ll get the money back from Pippa if he gives Lance a job. Martin is interested until Celia arrives with a business proposition for him and Martin tells Sally to leave. She heads back to the house where Steven is giving Danny his caravan key. He asks about Pippa being away and learns they’re looking after themselves. After Danny’s gone, Steven learns Carly has got an extra shift at the Diner and reminds her he’s going to a football game with Greg so Carly will have to be home by three to look after Sally. In his van, Danny lies asleep, hearing the voices of Carly, Alf and Sally talking about the police catching the stalker and him talking to himself, and wakes up with a start.

Celia gives Martin her conditions for giving him the money for the hot dog stand: She wants him to wear a shirt and tie, 60% of the profits will go to her and she also plans to sell things like salad sandwiches and steamed fish. Martin realises she is trying to protect the store’s business but seems okay with the idea. He rings Henry but learns he has already sold it to someone who made a better offer. He asks who and, storming down to the front, finds Lance running the hot dog stand. Lance explains he used his share in Macklins to get a loan from the bank. Martin accuses him of stabbing him in the back but Lance offers him a job as his partner, showing he’s put both their names on the contract. He possibly has cause to regret it soon afterwards, as Martin starts giving away free hot dogs to girls he fancies and giving Lance cooking instructions.

At the Diner, Bobby admits to Danny she’s worried about Morag and keeps looking at people and wondering if they’d got a split personality. Danny wonders if someone could be doing it in his sleep without the other personality knowing about it. At the counter, Adam is trying to get a date off Carly again but she heads into the kitchen, telling him to answer the phone. It’s Steven, saying Carly needs to be home at 2.45 rather than three to look after Sally. Adam writes a note and asks Danny to give it to Carly but he puts it in his pocket.

Steven says a hurried goodbye to Sally when he hears Greg’s mum outside, telling her Carly will be home soon and reminding her not to let anyone in unless it’s a friend. Shortly after, Danny opens the door. Sally opens it slightly and Danny asks to come in. Sally says she’s not allowed to let anyone in unless they’re a friend. Danny says he’s a friend. Sally looks uncertain.
