Lance leaves town to destroy the reputation of “Image” once and for all, and the Summer Bay Bunyip returns.

Extended Summary

Carly and Steven are depressed about Tom over breakfast. They get a phone call from Pippa at the hospital to let them know that Tom has had an intracerebral haematoma. Steven says it’s like a brain hemorrhage. There’s nothing they can do about it.

Andrew is reading the paper at the flat and can’t believe how positive the article about Image’s performance at the Sands Resort opening is. Martin arrives, excited about the article and the $2,000 he’s received from Nina. Andrew wonders how much Nina has made. Stacey reminds Martin that they need Lance on side.

Lance arrives at the Diner but only wants a piece of toast. He tells Bobby and Carly that he thinks he caused Tom’s collapse with the backing tape prank. They assure him it had nothing to do with him; Tom had been pushing himself for ages. Lance perks up at this and orders two cheeseburgers, double fries, a chocolate milkshake, banana split and a Mars bar!

In the surf club workshop, Adam tells Matt he’s been given notice that he can’t sleep on his yacht any more unless he pays $200 to register as a resident. He asks Matt to have a word with his uncle. Steven arrives with a new raft design.

Bobby pins up the photocopied dodgy raft design on the Diner kitchen wall. Carly doesn’t think it’s important any more with Tom in hospital but Bobby thinks it will do her good to keep busy. She plans to get the timber and tools from Alf. Carly points out they need to make sure it fits through the door if they build it inside.

At Morag’s house, Martin tells Marilyn she needs to make sure Lance stays in the band but Marilyn doesn’t want anything to do with him after what he did. She certainly doesn’t want him thinking she wants to date him again; she has lots of guys who want to go out with her now and she has a responsibility to her fans! Martin tells her that if they have no group she has no fans.

Andrew enters the Diner and Carly tells him what Lance has just eaten. The count has risen to three burgers, three Mars bars, two milkshakes and two bags of chips! Lance says he’s trying to get fat to avoid being a sex symbol; it’s his last chance! Andrew has an idea for how he can finish Image off for good… Back at the flat, Andrew makes a phone call arranging an appointment for Lance for this afternoon.

Matt returns to the surf club, having had no luck with his uncle. He offers for Adam to stay with him so long as he doesn’t mind the floor; it’s the least he can do after stealing the beach inspector’s job from him. Adam says the way things are looking at the moment he won’t be strapped for cash.

On his yacht, Adam tries on a fur coat and talks to himself about the face and feet he’ll need. He practices his bunyip voice. After dark, he catches a lift to Yabbie Creek with Martin.

Carly suggests Steven help with the cleaning to take his mind off Tom. Steven wonders how they will manage financially and considers leaving school. Carly says they just have to believe that Tom will be OK.

Stacey and Andrew discuss dinner and Stacey is frustrated that they’re acting like they barely know each other. She suggests they go out on a proper date. Marilyn arrives at the flat looking for Lance as she wants to put Martin’s plan of being nice to him into action but he can’t find him. Andrew claims not to know where Lance is.

Lance is walking along in the dark when he hears a roaring noise. He runs off and Adam laughs. At the mobile home, Martin doesn’t believe Lance has seen the bunyip.

Stacey and Andrew return from dinner and Stacey suggests they spend more time together. Andrew is wary of starting something but Stacey says they’ll never know if they don’t try. They kiss.

Bobby has had a call at the Diner from Pippa the next day and tells Carly there’s no change with Tom. Adam comes in and asks if they’ve heard Lance saw the bunyip last night.

Andrew has received a letter asking him to fill in at a welfare centre in the city for six months. He tells Stacey it might help them to decide what they want, but Stacey already knows what she wants. Lance bursts in and tells them they need to come back to his place. Amazingly they get there just in time to see the beginning of Saturday Morning Live with Jono and Dano. Lance is going to be interviewed. Andrew, Stacey, Marilyn and Martin look worried.
