Ryan Kelly

Ryan was a fan of Phoebe’s who arrived in Summer Bay with the intention of meeting “a girl”. He quickly made Roo’s acquaint, who encouraged him to say hello to Phoebe when he was starstruck by her. Whilst he rejected the suggestion, he later ogled Phoebe and Kyle from a distance, and that night, watched Phoebe from the bushes. The next day, he manufactured running into Phoebe and was disappointed to learn that she was putting a pause on her music career. Later, John caught him looking through Phoebe’s window before he watched the video of Phoebe’s assault and promised to take her away from this world. Meanwhile, Phoebe was elated to receive a tiara, believing it to be from Kyle for his ‘princess’, unaware it was from Ryan.

As Ryan began to enact his plan to win Phoebe over, he learnt Kyle was going to be out of town. He cornered Phoebe in the house, whose screams for help alerted John, who scared Ryan off. His attempt to apologise led to Kat warning him to stay away and assisting Phoebe in gaining an AVO. However, it didn’t keep Ryan away who watched Phoebe throw out the tiara. After learning of the ordeal, Kyle tracked Ryan down but he was stopped from hurting him by Ash, who threatened Ryan to leave town. Despite the warnings, Ryan remained in the Bay and upon learning of Brax’s trial, he broke into the share house and planted cameras in Phoebe & Kyle’s bedroom. He later chloroformed Phoebe and kidnapped her.

Phoebe awoke in a room alone with Ryan. He forced her to wear a white dress and vowed to protect her image. When he demanded that she sing for him, she tried to get away by locking herself in the bathroom, but she soon gave into to his demands and sang Amazing Grace at his request. As he lost himself in the moment, Phoebe kneed him in the groin and tried to escape. Meanwhile, Kat, Kyle and Ash found the recording device in her room and were able to track her down, getting to her as she opened the door. Ryan was then arrested by Kat and charged with stalking, kidnapping and resisting arrest.

It was confirmed by Kat a week later that Ryan had pled guilty and has been sentenced to seven years non-parole in a high security psychiatric facility interstate and will have to undergo evaluation to be released.
