Peter Moss arrived at Summer Bay Caravan Park looking to rent a van for a few days, and Michael directed him up to the house to speak with Sally.

When they met, Sally couldn’t shake the feeling that she’d seen him somewhere before. She asked if he’d stayed at the park in the past, but an amused Peter denied doing so. Still, as she handed him the key, the sense of familiarity lingered.

Outside, Peter ran into Michael again, who mentioned that he was welcome to use the barbecue area—except for the following day, when they’d be hosting a birthday party for Sally. The news caught Peter’s attention, and when he asked how old she’d be, Michael told him she was turning 17.

Later that day, Peter saw Sally in the diner and struck up another conversation, confirming that her birthday was indeed the next day. He brought up their earlier chat, asking why she’d thought they might have met before. Sally simply said he somehow seemed familiar. Picking up on Sally’s unease, Shannon stepped in to change the subject, asking how long Peter was planning to stay. When Sally asked if he was travelling alone, Peter explained that his wife had passed away.

The next day, Peter stopped by the house to wish Sally a happy birthday and offered to show her some of the family photos he’d brought with him. Among the pictures of his family home, he showed Sally a photo of his late wife, Agnes, and another of his daughter, Caitlin. He asked if Sally had ever visited the suburb of Croydon, but she didn’t think she had. Peter cryptically stated that maybe it would come back to her, and he went on to show her a photo of the family dog. When Sally stated she loved dogs, Peter wasn’t surprised in the slightest.

When Peter eventually left, Shannon was quick to ask what sort of person takes his photo albums on holiday. Sally replied a really boring one, before retreating upstairs in case he came back.

When Peter later came out of his caravan, he was transfixed by watching Sally talking with Michael.

As Sally’s party was getting started up at the house, Peter arrived with a gift for Sally. Sally was thrown by the gesture, and explained that she couldn’t accept as it was a family rule. Peter left it on the table in case she changed her mind, and when she reluctantly opened it she found an expensive looking charm bracelet.

Sally showed the gift to Pippa and Michael, with Michael voicing his disapproval. Sally explained that things were getting a bit weird, and Pippa suggested Michael have a talk with Peter. Sally gave the bracelet back to Peter, explaining she couldn’t accept, and Peter understood. But Sally began to feel uncomfortable as Peter loitered nearby.

When Michael later confronted Peter, he explained that his behaviour was starting to frighten Sally. Peter insisted that was never his intention, claiming instead that something wonderful was happening—something beyond human understanding. Alarmed by the strange remark, Michael told him to pack up and leave the next day, warning him to stay away from Sally. As Michael walked off, Peter grew frustrated that he wouldn’t listen.

Later, Sally was stunned to find Peter waiting in her bedroom. He assured her he meant no harm but insisted she had to come with him. Terrified, Sally ran downstairs shouting for Pippa and Michael. As Michael reached for the phone to call the police, Peter dropped a shocking revelation—he claimed to be Sally’s father.

Pippa told him that Sally’s father had died years ago, but Peter clarified that he wasn’t speaking of blood ties. He believed his daughter Caitlin had been reborn as Sally, explaining that Caitlin had died the very day Sally was born.

Though Pippa and Michael urged him to leave, Sally wanted to hear him out. Peter went on to say that recognising people you’ve never met could be a sign of a past-life connection. He explained that Caitlin had died in a car accident, and when Pippa gently told him he needed to accept his daughter’s death, Peter replied that he had—until he met Sally.

When Peter asked if he could stay a few more days, Michael told him that the vans were booked out. As a defeated Peter stepped out, Sally couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.

The next morning, Peter said goodbye to Sally, adding that he’d see her around. Without thinking, she replied, “Not if I see you first.” Peter froze—Caitlin used to say that exact line every time he left the house. Sally had no idea why she’d even said it, she didn’t usually, but the coincidence only deepened Peter’s belief. Now torn, Sally asked Pippa and Michael to let him stay so she could talk to him properly, frustrated by how quickly they dismissed the idea.

With Selina and Shannon agreeing the coincidences were unnerving, Pippa quietly admitted Sally might have a point. After more pleading, Michael finally agreed to give Sally fifteen minutes with Peter before he left.

During their chat, Peter mentioned Caitlin’s dog, Jiminy. Sally immediately said she had a doll called Jiminy—named after Jiminy Cricket. Peter gently took her hand, convinced she really was Caitlin. Sally repeated the claims to Michael just as Peter returned to hand in his key. When asked where he was heading, Peter said he sold his home after Agnes died and now went wherever life took him. Claiming a van had suddenly become free, Michael allowed him to stay—on the condition he stopped the reincarnation talk.

Over dinner, Sally listed the strange similarities between her and Caitlin, but the family remained doubtful. She revealed that Peter blamed himself for Caitlin’s death—he’d panicked during the accident, and if he’d swerved, she might still be alive.

That evening, Peter returned with more photos, hoping to trigger a memory. When Sally admitted nothing looked familiar, he left, disappointed. Michael told Sally it was kinder not to fuel his hopes.

The next morning Peter suggested visiting his old house, certain being there would bring everything back. Pippa and Michael refused when Sally approached them about it, saying it wasn’t fair on him. Yet Sally still felt there was more to it. Outside, she overheard Peter calling Sam “Mr Baggy Breeches.” When he explained it came from an old song and began to sing it, Sally found herself joining in—despite having no memory of knowing the song. Peter revealed he used to sing it to Caitlin.

Sally sang the tune to Pippa and Michael, but they’d never heard it before either. Still hesitant to let Sally go with Peter to his old house, they finally agreed when Shannon offered to go along.

En-route, the three of them were singing the song again when a car suddenly approached on the wrong side of the road. Peter swerved, sending their vehicle into a tree and knocking him unconscious. Shannon flagged down help while Sally stayed with him.

At the hospital, Kelly confirmed the police had verified Sally and Shannon’s account of the accident—Peter had been run off the road. A shaken Michael quietly noted that this time, Peter had swerved—he knew exactly what to do.

As they waited, Sally insisted Peter had been right all along—the accident mirrored the one Caitlin died in. Pippa called it coincidence, but Michael was beginning to believe fate had given Peter a second chance and made known his theory to Sally.

Kelly later told Pippa and Michael that Peter’s condition had worsened and he wasn’t expected to survive. Sally sat at his bedside and told him she understood now—they’d been brought together to give him a second chance to save Caitlin…to save her. When Kelly returned, she confirmed that Peter had passed away.

Sally broke down, but through her tears she managed a smile at the thought that maybe they’d meet again—and if he was singing “Mr Baggy Breeches,” she’d know it was him. She kissed him on the cheek and told him she wouldn’t have minded if he’d been her dad, before leaving the room in tears.

Back home, Sally found the bracelet Peter had given her on the table. Turning it over, she spotted an inscription she hadn’t seen before: “My darling Caitlin, all my love, Dad.
