Pete was a Melbourne police officer who was known to Charlie Buckton. He met her and Miles when they came to Melbourne to search for Melody and helped them show her photograph around the market, telling them he’d circulated her details but no-one matching her description had been seen. Unfortunately, Melody’s new friend Archie Maddocks had just stolen a wallet and, on seeing Pete in uniform, dragged Melody away and ran off before Miles could speak to her. Pete later called Miles and Charlie after Archie was beaten up by the youths he had robbed and convinced Archie to tell them all he knew about Melody.
