Ian Harrington

Ian was the father of Spencer and Chris. He and his wife disapproved of Spencer’s relationship with Maddy and tried to keep them apart, leading to them running away together. They briefly returned home after being tracked down in Summer Bay but nothing changed so they left home again. Ian followed them to Summer Bay, finding Roo at the caravan park and demanding to see Spencer. When Harvey, Spencer and Maddy returned home, Ian insulted Maddy and again tried to insist Spencer speak to him but Harvey and Roo ordered him out. He returned the following day and told Spencer if he didn’t come back with him then they were finished. Spencer hugged him and said goodbye, prompting Ian to leave, speechless.

Ian’s other son Chris would also later settle in Summer Bay. The following year, when they were being held hostage by Sean Green who mistakenly believed their father lived with them, Chris rang Ian to confirm where he was, leaving him confused and somewhat irritated.

In 2015, Spencer heard that Ian had been badly injured in a car crash and decided the time had come to reconnect with his family, moving home.
