Extended Summary

Ash wanders the beach, calling out for Ava. Brody and Mason arrive home but have to tell Justin and Raffy that they haven’t found her, although Mason reassures Raffy that she’s just run away. At the police station, Colby checks in with Murray, telling him to get more people out. He goes to check with Alf and Leah at the bait shop. Ryder thinks Ava has just thrown a tantrum and will be back soon; Colby sharply tells him not to tell the family that. John, Ash and Hunter reconnoitre near the surf club before ringing Justin to check for news. Justin gives a list of places they can go; Mason talks him out of searching himself and Brody says he’ll go search Yabbie Creek.

Alf and Colby enter the Diner where Colby collects some food from Marilyn in case the police have to work through the night. Colby passes Jasmine as he exits and she suggests they catch up soon but Colby’s mind is on Ava and when she tries to engage him in conversation he quickly cuts it short and hurries off. At the Morgan house, Justin and Mason discuss the fact that Willow’s searching in Mangrove River. Tori comes home but dismisses questions about Robbo, saying it’s a long story, and suggests they focus on Ava. Mason suggests that he and a restless Raffy search the bush behind the house; Justin warns him to keep Raffy in sight. He tells Tori he has a bad feeling.

Ash runs into Tori at Salt and tells her he’s searched the place in case Ava was hiding there. Tori sarcastically congratulates him on his performance in court. Ash says he just told the truth but Tori calls it an ambush. Ash says he just did what he needed to get Robbo put away. Tori asks if he’s heard. Ash goes to the police station and asks Colby about Robbo’s trial being halted. Colby knows nothing about it so Ash asks him to call the feds or the taskforce. Colby ends up yelling that Ava being missing is the priority. There’s an awkward pause as everyone present stops and stares at him, then he quickly leaves.

Ash fills in Irene, Marilyn and Olivia at the Diner, with Jasmine listening from nearby. Marilyn wonders if it means Robbo’s done something worse but Irene doesn’t know what could be worse. Hunter comes in, having been searching for Ava until late. Olivia offers to accompany him in the morning and he agrees to meet her first thing. Meanwhile, Justin leaves Nina a message saying he has to talk to her about Ava, while in his flat Colby pours himself a drink and looks at a Missing poster similar to the one on Ava, for a girl named Bella Nixon.

Tori joins Justin at the back of the house. He comments that it’ll be dark soon and thinks he should have checked on Ava again. He decides he has to go out and look for her. Tori reminds him the police said someone had to stay at home but he points out that she can stay there. However, next morning Justin is still wandering along the beach, calling out for Ava.

At the police station, Colby briefs Murray and other officers on the search area. Justin comes in and tells Colby he’s been searching all night. Colby tells him they can put out an alert to the media and also an amber alert which means people will get messages on their phones. Indeed, Raffy is looking at one at the Diner. She tells John and Marilyn the photo was taken when Ava first came to the Bay, then chokes up briefly saying she has to be with her family. John and Marilyn drive her. Irene and Jasmine look on, with Irene suggesting Jasmine talks to Colby about search volunteers.

Alf, Leah and Ryder watch a news report on Ava’s disappearance at the caravan park house. Mason comes in and watches the end of it with them, then asks Alf if he can search the empty vans in case Ava’s hiding in there. Ryder says he has to go out too. At the Morgan house, Brody is setting up social media to alert Ava’s friends. Justin remarks to Tori that he still hasn’t got hold of Nina and worries that she’ll first hear about it on the news. Ryder comes in and awkwardly asks Raffy if he can help her; they hug.

Hunter and Olivia are wandering along a remote road; Olivia isn’t sure Ava would come this far but Hunter reminds her Ava caught a bus to Summer Bay on her own at night. Olivia assures him she still wants to be friends, then spots a bag lying in the grass. Hunter climbs a fence to check on it and tells her to call the police. Soon after, the police are cordoning off the area as Justin and Tori turn up. Colby shows them the bag and they confirm it’s the one Ava supposedly took with her. Colby says there’s no evidence that Ava herself was there and the bag was probably dumped from a moving vehicle, suggesting foul play. He says they need to dust the house for fingerprints, which means they’ll need a copy for everyone who they already know was there.

Justin has his hand scanned at the police station; Tori, Brody and Raffy are also present and Mason arrives to have his done. Justin and Brody decide to go see Ava’s grandparents and friends in the city, with Mason agreeing he and Tori can keep an eye on things there. As the Morgans leave, Colby sees a man in the office. Murray says he’s repossessing and deleting everything pertaining to Robbo or Beckett Reid; McCarthy referred it upwards and was told to co-operate, but no-one knows who exactly he’s working for. Meanwhile, at the Diner, Jasmine asks Leah about Colby and admits that they kissed. Leah suggests she goes up and see him to offer support.

Colby takes Ash and Tori into the store room at Salt and tells them, strictly off the record, that someone high up is erasing all trace of Robbo from the police station records. Tori remembers that Samantha told her to forget about him. Colby then heads back to his flat and looks at a file pertaining to Bella. Jasmine turns up and asks if she can help him. He responds by kissing her and then carrying her to the bedroom.

Ash and Tori are ruminating on things at Salt, with Ash pointing out the court case was supposed to bring closure. Tori suggests that they’ve got it and doesn’t think they’ll see Robbo again. At that moment, a group of federal officers are milling around in a makeshift-looking headquarters, with a montage of photographs on one wall that includes the pictures of Robbo and his family. The convoy of vehicles from the court house pulls in.
