Tori struggles with her feelings as Ash continues to deteriorate. Has Robbo destroyed any chance he has for freedom? Can Hunter save the day for Jennifer?

Extended Summary

Ash is brought into hospital, with Tori taking charge and Justin trailing along. A group of staff including Jasmine receive him and are told it’s suspected renal failure. Ash crashes again and they have to shock him. Later, Tori chats to Justin in the corridor, saying Ash has stabilised but there’s a long way to go yet. She goes back into the room where Jasmine is setting up a mannitol infusion, having received verbal instructions from the renal registrar. Tori complains that Ash’s obs are overdue. Jasmine says she did them and has written them on her hand but Tori says they need to be on the chart. Jasmine says she’s had other patients plus been chasing up the renal team. Tori tells her to get someone else to cover the rest of the ward and focus on Ash.

Olivia is walking home and sees Jennifer resting on the table, with a blanket draped over her. She goes over and asks about Hunter. Jennifer says he dumped her and notes Olivia’s only pretending not to be happy. Olivia asks if she’s staying there for the night and offers to call her parents or a cab. Jennifer says her mum’s away and her dad’s not answering, plus she’s lost her key. Olivia thinks Nick cares because of the way he was at uni but Jennifer says that’s just how he is in public. Olivia suggests she crash on her couch which Jennifer considers awkward. Olivia says she’s not leaving her alone so choose where she wants to go. She ends up taking her back to Leah and telling her she was going to sleep in the park. Leah says she can stay the night there. She offers to call her mum but Jennifer doesn’t want to go back to living with her, saying she doesn’t get on with her mum’s new boyfriend. Hunter has come in during the chat and says he didn’t want Jennifer to leave. Jennifer says breaking up with her suggests he did. She turns down his offer to sit up and talk.

Robbo receives a late night visitor: Lisa Petrov. It takes him a few moments to realise she’s the lawyer Tori organised. Robbo says Tori was hoping to be there when he met her the next morning. Lisa says her firm asked her to squeeze the case in and points out she’s doing it for free. Back at the hospital, Tori and Jasmine check on Ash, who is beginning to come round. They remove his feeding tube and Tori tells him about his kidney problems. Ash still feels ill and throws up. Tori tells Jasmine to get the renal team to assess him, then admits to Ash that if his kidney doesn’t start working again he’ll need a transplant or permanent dialysis.

Lisa goes over Robbo’s case: He has been charged with the murder of Dennis Novak, escaping custody and the assault on Ash, while there are outstanding warrants on Beckett Reid for attempted murder and kidnap. Robbo insists he isn’t Beckett Reid, despite what Novak said and despite the passport. He says Tori should be there to explain the medical side. He rings her at the hospital but she says there’s no chance of her getting there before the morning. Jasmine brings her Ash’s results and she says to take him off the mannitol since he can’t take any more fluids. She chats to Justin and Mason in the corridor, saying it’s still touch and go. Justin privately tells Mason that Ash told Tori he loved her while he was under the car.

Next morning, Leah talks to Hunter about not getting hold of Nick still. Jennifer comes down with her bags but Leah tells her to stay until she talks to Nick and gets Hunter to get her breakfast. Hunter and Jennifer sit in awkward silence for a minute. Jennifer apologises for coming back there but Hunter says they’re still friends. A short time after, Hunter finds Nick supervising a road gang, having been told where he was by the council. Nick recognises him as the boy that got Jennifer drunk. Hunter says that’s not what happened, as he’d know if he spoke to Jennifer. Nick says she’s a spoilt princess and wants an apology first. Hunter says she nearly ended up sleeping in the park. On hearing she’s safe, Nick says he’ll talk to her after work. Hunter says he needs to talk to her now.

Jasmine chats to Irene about Ash at the Diner, suggesting Irene pop in on him. Mason turns up and Jasmine says she’s having one of those days, adding that Tori’s been a nightmare. Mason explains that Tori and Ash were a couple until recently. Soon after, at the hospital, Tori and Jasmine check on Ash, who is becoming more confused, asking Jasmine to get him out of there and saying his car’s outside and he needs to get to the garage. Tori tries to calm him and says he needs dialysis.

Hunter arrives home with Nick, who tells Leah he didn’t listen to her messages because he didn’t recognise her number. He and Jennifer soon end up bickering and Jennifer storms off upstairs. Nick tells Leah he can’t back down: Jennifer’s mother spoiled her and he needs to set boundaries. Leah says Jennifer needs someone to be a parent. Meanwhile, Tori and Justin try and reassure Ash as Jasmine sets up the dialysis machine. Ash still seems somewhat confused and frightened but is less aggressive.

Nick and Jennifer come downstairs and say they’re going to try and meet each other halfway: He’s going to accept she’s not a child and she’s going to accept he’s not the enemy. Nick notes he misjudged Hunter and Jennifer says he sucked as a boyfriend but has potential as a friend. Later, Hunter runs into Olivia on the beach. Olivia apologises for bringing Jennifer back but Hunter says it worked out for the best. Things are somewhat awkward between them but they resolve to stay friends.

Jasmine finds Tori taking a moment in the corridor and says she heard about Tori’s connection to Ash. Tori insists it hasn’t affected her judgement. Jasmine worries she’s overstepped the mark but Tori, while still abrupt, ends up thanking her. Meanwhile, Robbo and Lisa are having to meet without Tori again. Lisa says she has a solution: Robbo pleads insanity. Robbo insists he’s not insane, despite Lisa pointing to his amnesia. He worries about ending up in a psych ward but Lisa thinks it’s the only way to avoid decades in prison.

Justin and Mason bring Tori breakfast. She is hoping that the dialysis will clear the toxins and Ash’s kidney will start working again, otherwise he’ll be hooked up to the machine for life. She goes to see Robbo who tells her he fired Lisa: He’d rather rot in jail than say he’s insane.
