Ziggy defies her parents decision to move to Summer Bay by fleeing to the city. Marilyn and John discover the reason behind Raffy’s rebellious behaviour.

Extended Summary

Outside the caravan, Maggie makes unsuccessful attempts to phone Ben and Ziggy. Coco says they’re not any more likely to answer this time than any of the others and also thinks it’s up to Ziggy, but adds that she won’t get far anyway since Ben wil talk her round like he usually does. However, Ben is following Ziggy to the car park, telling her she can’t stay at their house because it’s about to go on the market. Ziggy says she’ll move in with Jarrod. Ben wonders who Brody is and he introduces himself. In answer to further questions (and despite Ziggy telling him he doesn’t have to answer), he explains he’s an owner of Salt and Justin’s brother and had to go to the city anyway. Brody and Ziggy drive off with Ziggy ignoring Ben asking her to call them.

Marilyn isn’t certain that they’ve done the right thing with Raffy but John hopes that she’s in her room knuckling down. Raffy emerges and says that she’s done the assignment and is off down the beach. John asks to see it (with Marilyn suggesting similar in more conciliatory terms) and Raffy says her laptop’s on her bed. John says she lives by their rules while she’s staying there and can’t go out until they see the assignment. Raffy says she’ll move back home and John wonders who’ll tell Tori. Raffy angrily goes back to her room. At Salt, Ben fills Maggie in. Maggie considers moving back to the city but Ben thinks Ziggy can survive on her own for a few days, saying the move is meant to be a change for all of them.

Brody drops Ziggy off outside Jarrod’s house. Ziggy thanks him for keeping her company the last week and says maybe she’ll see him during his visits to the city. Brody drives on a short distance, then stops and looks at the conversation with Zannis on his phone. Ziggy goes into the house, calling out for Jarrod. From his bedroom, he calls that he’ll be out in a sec and to get something in the kitchen. Ziggy walks in anyway to find Jarrod getting dressed and a girl naked in his bed. She walks away, calling Brody to come and pick her up. Jarrod claims it meant nothing and says Ziggy just left for two weeks. Ziggy gets in the car with Brody and refuses to tell Jarrod who he is.

At the Diner, Marilyn is telling Alf and Roo about the problems with Raffy. Mason is passing and hears Raffy’s name. Marilyn says she’s doing her assignment and turns down Mason’s offer of help, pretending that everything’s fine. After she’s gone, Marilyn tells the others that they don’t know what they’re doing. Alf points out they did a good job with Jordan and Roo adds Jett as well, both reassuring her. Marilyn goes home where John says Raffy’s still in her room and he hasn’t looked in because he doesn’t want to disturb her. Marilyn wonders if Alf’s right and they do know what they’re doing. However, when she goes to check on Raffy she finds the room empty and the window open.

Raffy and Coco are sat in a secluded corner of the caravan park. Coco is morose about Ziggy being gone, wondering if it will just be the three of them rattling around a big house. Raffy says she’ll probably be there all the time, explaining she isn’t living with her family but with a couple who she’d thought would be cool but who just order her about. Coco points out that they are the adults. Alf comes up and angrily tells Raffy that Marilyn’s been worried. He takes her back to the Palmer house. Raffy complains that there was no need for a search party and Alf retorts that he found her with two phone calls and she should realise she’s lucky. Raffy tells John and Marilyn not to worry about her and they’re not her parents but her landlords. They shouldn’t act like it’s something it’s not because they’ll be gone in five minutes.

Brody and Ziggy are in the park, with Ziggy having filled Brody in. Brody asks if there’s anywhere else she can go. Ziggy says all her friends still live with their parents and admits she doesn’t have a job. Brody quips that she’s basically homeless and suggests she go back to Summer Bay. Ziggy isn’t so keen and Brody tells her he’ll take her wherever she wants to go. Later, they’re at Salt when Ben and Maggie turn up. Ziggy says she’ll give living with them a go. They ask what happened to Jarrod and Brody says there was an old lady living in the house, suggesting that Jarrod might have been evicted. Ben thanks him for looking after Ziggy and the family leave. Mason checks Brody is okay.

Marilyn does her best to cheer up Raffy, who says that everyone leaves in the end: They die or get sent away or send her away. Marilyn says they’ll always be there for her and John agrees, telling her that everyone needs someone. Back at Salt, Brody tries to tell Mason he’s fine until he admits he’s been polishing the same glass for ten minutes. He says that Ziggy isn’t interested and sees him as a “nice guy”. Mason tells him he can’t use Ziggy as a substitute for drugs. Brody insists he’s on top of things with the programme and the meetings. Mason says he’s proud of him. Zannis watches from the balcony.

Ben, Maggie and Coco do a tour of the house while Ziggy stands aside looking sulky. Coco is appreciative of some of the furniture left behind and they note they can use a combination of the furniture there and the stuff from their old house. Ben suggests the glass table Diana bought them for their wedding could be “accidentally” broken in the move and the others agree. Maggie suggests they could build a private space out the back for the girls. Ziggy, speaking for the first time, asks if that’s supposed to make her love the place and snaps that she’ll always hate it, rushing out. Later, Maggie finds her sitting alone and says they never meant to make her unhappy. She suggests they could help her save up for her own place and maybe she could track down Jarrod. Ziggy tells her about finding him with another girl and says he’s probably still with her. She cries and Maggie comforts her.

Zannis surprises Brody on the balcony and tells him he’s open for business again and wants Brody to work for him, reminding him of the delivery he took. Brody refuses but Zannis says there’ll be benefits. Despite Brody repeatedly trying to push it away, he places a packet of ice in Brody’s pocket and says he’ll be back when Brody’s got a clearer head.
