Home and Away Spoilers – Will Abby find comfort with Remi?
Next week on Home and Away in the UK, Abby is left heartbroken when Richie ends their relationship—but could she be about to find a very unexpected rebound?
Richie (Rocco Forrester-Sach) is facing the consequences of his catastrophic mistake, when the investigation into Summer Bay’s crime wave took a horrifying turn.
After Justin’s stolen van was traced to a campsite, Richie joined David (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) at the scene. But when one of the suspects became aggressive, Richie panicked and fired his gun, despite David ordering him to stand down.
As David stepped in to stop the situation escalating any further, Richie pulled the trigger and accidentally shot his boss in the abdomen.
David was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, where new doctor Amelia Carlisle (Nicole da Silva) discovered signs of internal bleeding. When David then went into cardiac arrest, Amelia was forced to perform CPR as Jo (Maddison Brown) and Lacey (Sophea Pennington) arrived to find their dad fighting for his life.
Although Amelia managed to stabilise David and remove the bullet, his condition remains uncertain.
Next week, David wakes up in hospital, bringing huge relief for Jo and Lacey. His first concern is for his daughters, but Amelia can see that he’s far from okay himself despite putting on a brave face.
Lacey’s already struggling to contain her anger over what happened. When she and Jo later collect David’s belongings from the police station, she asks Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) whether Richie has been charged yet.
Cash explains that the matter is being handled by the conduct commission, but Lacey doesn’t see that as enough. David wasn’t hurt by one of the criminals he was trying to catch—he was nearly killed by one of his own officers.
Meanwhile, Richie’s barely holding himself together.
At the surf club, Justin (James Stewart) offers Richie some sympathy, unaware that he was the one who pulled the trigger.
Richie admits the truth, and by the time Abigail (Hailey Pinto) arrives, he’s breaking down. Even the news that David’s expected to recover can’t ease his guilt.
Abby tries to stand by him, but Cash has serious doubts about whether Richie can cope with the pressure of the job after everything that’s happened, pointing out that he officers like him can’t be trusted.
Richie overhears enough of their conversation to be shaken even further.
Richie later admits that his confidence around firearms now feels horribly misplaced, leaving him questioning whether he’d ever been ready for the job. Abby refuses to let him hide from what happened, urging him to apologise to David properly and offering to go to the hospital with him.
However, the sight of Richie in his hospital room sends David straight back to the moment of the shooting. His heart rate spikes, forcing Amelia to order Richie out whilst she works to calm David down.
Lacey and Jo arrive in the middle of the chaos and are horrified to find Richie there. Richie only wanted to apologise, but his presence has left David panicked, Lacey furious and Abby caught in the middle.
Back in Summer Bay, Richie starts to unravel, convinced that his police career could be over before it has properly begun. Abby tries to convince him that losing the job wouldn’t mean losing himself, but Richie is too overwhelmed to hear it and asks for space.
Abby’s loyalty to Richie soon causes more trouble when she crosses paths with Lacey at the surf club.
When Lacey gets worked up over Richie’s visit to David, Abby tries to calm the situation by reminding her that the shooting was an accident. But her attempt to explain Richie’s side only makes things worse, especially when she suggests David got in the way.
Lacey snaps and slaps Abby across the face.
Whilst Abby is left stunned, Richie returns to the bush campsite, attempting to make sense of what happened.
Cash finds him there and is honest about the difficult days ahead. Richie could be facing serious consequences, but Cash also makes a surprising offer—he’ll drive Richie to the city for the hearing and act as his support person.
Before they leave, they head back to the share house so Cash can collect his things. Abby asks if she can go with them, but Richie turns her down, explaining that the hearing is going to be tough and he needs to focus.
Then comes the blow Abby wasn’t expecting.
Richie tells her that he’s not in the right place for a relationship and that she deserves better.
Abby is hurt, pointing out that Richie doesn’t get to decide what she deserves, but he leaves with Cash all the same.
When she later finds Eden (Stephanie Panozzo), Abby is crushed after being slapped by Lacey and dumped by Richie in the space of a few hours.
She had genuinely believed Richie could be the one, only for him to walk away just as she was trying to stand by him.
Eden covers Abby’s shift at Salt and sends her home, but she’s not comfortable leaving her alone for the rest of the day. With Cash away supporting Richie at the hearing, she reluctantly turns to Remi (Adam Rowland) for help.
Remi isn’t convinced he’s the right person for the job, knowing that Abby usually has no patience for him.
His doubts seem justified when he arrives at the share house and Abby immediately snaps at him, but her mood shifts once she realises he’s only there because Eden was worried.
Remi’s solution to heartbreak isn’t the most sophisticated, but it does the trick—tequila.
After a few drinks, the awkwardness begins to fade—even if Remi’s attempt to joke that Abby may have “dodged a bullet” with Richie proves badly timed.
The evening takes a more sincere turn when Remi tells Abby she deserves someone who actually sees how great she is. Abby is caught off guard by the kindness, admitting it may be the nicest thing he has ever said to her.
By the time Eden gets home, Abby is no longer sitting around crying over Richie. Instead, she’s dancing around the living room and trying to pull Remi into joining her.
Eden laughs as she watches the unlikely pair together, surprised by the change in Abby after seeing her so devastated earlier. Then her smile fades as she realises what may be going on.
The next morning, Abby continues the unexpected show of gratitude by cooking Remi breakfast before work.
Once Abby has gone, Eden shares her theory with Remi. After seeing them together the night before, and now finding Abby making him breakfast, she’s convinced her sister may have developed a rebound crush.
Remi is completely baffled by the idea, insisting that Abby is simply trying to get over Richie. But Eden isn’t so easily talked out of what she thinks she saw.
Could Abby’s heartbreak over Richie have sparked an unexpected crush on Remi?
