Nicholas first introduced himself as somebody who had known Stacey for years and informed Phil that he had asked her to marry him and that Stacey had agreed. Whilst swimming somebody stole Nicholas’s clothes and he was reported by Celia and Betty Allsop. Finger of suspicion fell on Phil but he denied it.

Nicholas conspired with Gordon Macklin to buy the caravan park from Tom and Pippa and put in an offer which The Fletchers initially accepted but they later declined forced Nicholas to offer Tom a job in England. Meanwhile he was rowing with Stacey over what was going on with her and Phillip and she eventully broke off their engagement. Nicholas asked Morag to buy the Caravan Park and sell it to him and Morag agreed on the proviso he ruin Bobby. Nicholas was also revealed to be behind the prank letters to Ailsa and with Morag’s blessing he framed Roo as the culprit. Morag then tried to set him up with Roo but the relaionship failed to materialise and Morag got cold feet about supporting him.

Stacey became suspicious of him and began her own digging, eventually discovering documents proving he was involved in dodgy dealings. After Stacey confronted and exposed him he left the bay.
