Kate Ritchie (re)joins Nova FM

Kate Ritchie’ss on-again-off-again relationship with radio is firmly on again, after it was confirmed that she will be replacing Meshel Laurie on Nova FM’ss national drive time slot.

Kate will be joining existing hosts Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold on the 4pm til 6pm weekday slot as of January 2014, after it was announced that Blackwell and Sheargold’ss current co-presenter, Laurie, is to present a new breakfast show on Nova from next year.

Kate, who found fame playing Sally Fletcher on Home and Away from 1988 until 2008, and who recently returned to the show for a guest stint, is no stranger to Nova FM. She joined the Merrick & Rosso breakfast show back in 2008, but this was short lived, and the show ended the following year. Since then she has continued to make regular appearances on the station, including filling in on Fitzy & Wippa’ss show with Sam Mac while the pair are on holiday.

Speaking of her move back to full time radio, Kate said: I couldn’st have asked for a greater gig to come along … it’ss perfect.

I love the freedom of radio (as well as cheeky boys) which is why I can’t wait to get back into the Nova studio on a regular basis with Tim and Marty. I can’t say I ever loved the 4am alarm clock and that’s what makes this drive shift a dream job!”

Paul Jackson, Group Program Director at DMG Radio Group said: “Kate was a natural choice as she’ss no stranger to the audience and her style of banter fits perfectly the real, relatable, conversational style that has made our drive show number one across Australia.”

Kate made a brief appearance on Fitzy and Wippa’ss show last week to surprise Chris Hemsworth. She ‘scalled into’s the show to ask Chris, who has taken Hollywood by storm since leaving Summer Bay in 2008, “back in your Home and Away days, who was the woman you just absolutely adored working with and would swap Natalie Portman with any day?

Good luck Kate!
