Chris Hemsworth reunited with his ‘favourite girl’ Kate Ritchie

Chris Hemsworth has taken Hollywood by storm since playing Kim Hyde in Home and Away from 2004-2007. Yet despite starring in blockbusters such as Thor, The Avengers and Star Trek Into Darkness, he still credits Home and Away for where he is today.

In an interview with Fitzy and Wippa on Nova FM, Chris said “I loved Home and Away and I credit everything I do to it. I was 19 when I started working on that show. I had such a great time.”

The interview also saw Chris reunited with Kate Ritchie, aka Sally Fletcher, with whom he co-starred during his three years in Summer Bay. Fitzy and/or Wippa introduced an “excited” caller as ‘sKate from Campbelltown’s, who asked “I know these days you get to work with people like, I don’st know, Olivia Wilde and Natalie Portman, but, back in your Home and Away days, who was the woman you just absolutely adored working with and would swap Natalie Portman with any day?”

Hemsworth, who took a few seconds to twig just which Kate he was talking to, answered: “Yeah, I’sd have to say Kate Ritchie … not only the most talented, but just the most stunning woman and, no, she’sd be definitely … if they had to re-cast, they’sd have to take the role.”

Chris went onto say that he didn’st do many scenes as he wanted to on the show. When asked if there was ever any kind of relationship between Kim and Sally on the show, Chris joked “I kept pushing for it, but I think Kate kept fighting it …” with Kate quipping that she had to “beat you off with a stick”.
