Home and Away to hit the UK

Yes, we’sre a little late in reporting this one… but there may well be some of you out there who haven’st heard the news that Home and Away is set to come to the UK to film a number of special episodes later this year.

Channel 5 announced earlier this month that the show is set to film a number of episodes in London in October. While details were initially kept under wraps, it has since been revealed that the Braxton brothers – Brax (Darryl), Heath and Casey – will all be travelling to the capital for a storyline that will see the boys “embarking on a desperate fight to hang onto what is most important in life – love and family”.

Greg Barnett, Channel 5’ss commissioning editor, commented: ‘Although we can’t reveal much about the storyline at present I can promise fans this is going to be one not to miss. It’ss great to have the show filming these very special episodes in the UK and as a huge fan myself I’m very, very excited!’s

Lucy Addario, Home and Away’ss series producer, commented: “We are thrilled that Home and Away will be returning to London to shoot this exciting storyline. It is also a wonderful opportunity to bring the heart and soul of Summer Bay to the home of our loyal UK audience.”

Lincoln Younes, who plays Casey, has spoken to TV Week about the trip, and commented that he is “so excited” about his up and coming trip. However, he mentioned that a number of the cast were disappointed at missing out on a trip to the UK: “I think a few people were a little bit disappointed they didn’st get to go – and that’ss normal – but the show is going international, and, hopefully, that’ss a precedent for more trips.”

This isn’st the first time that Home and Away has graced the UK’ss shores – there have been two previous visits, in 1988 and 2001.

The show first filmed in the UK in 1998, when Irene and Marilyn visited the small town of Ironbridge, Shropshire, to visit Selina who was suffering with Malaria. The area is renowned as the birthplace of the industrial revolution.

In 2001 Fisher, Hayley, Irene, Will and Nick took a trip to London for the UK launch of Fisher and Hayley’ss book, ‘sA Letter to Byron.’s During their time in London the group manage to get around quite a few places, including Trafalgar Square, the Tate Modern, the Original London Sightseeing Tour, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye and Westminster Bridge.

The Braxton trio are due to film in London in October, with the episodes hitting screens in 2014.
